Not for everyone, obviously. But…
There’s another annoyance… you cannot stream, mirror, airplay or whatever else you may have unless is a google cast device. Yes I am serious. That’s stupid. Not everyone wants to watch all this material in a tiny little screen and not everyone has a Google Cast.

They need to work on this app, not designed well
There’s a lot of little issues they need to work on this app. For the last 15 minutes, I’ve been just trying to get to the previous video of one of the episodes and it’s not easy to use. I highlighted three courses I wanted to take and they don’t seem to be getting saved anywhere so I have to look them up every time.
Honestly useless
Short videos with good edits to seem valuable but you can save money and watch it on YouTube
DO NOT UPGRADE IN-APP
Masterclass’s content is phenomenal. That is not what this review is about. It is about the fact that you cannot download content on the “standard” subscription, learning this only after purchase and being forced to upgrade to “Duo” subscription for $179.99, the the upgrade never being applied to the account. If you download this app DO NOT subscribe via in-app purchase. ONLY do it through masterclass website. The customer support is hot AI garbage. I’ve spent days trying to get my account fixed to simply get what I paid for. Still no luck.
Very difficult to cancel
The content is great, it’s pricey because of those who are offering these classes. I wanted to cancel because of the price and they have made it very difficult to cancel a subscription. There is not an option to cancel within the app, but they make it very easy to delete your account (which does NOT cancel your subscription) which removes access to the account so even though you have just paid for a subscription, you no longer get to use the app. How is this legal?

Money Scam
Mediocre content at best, learn nothing useful. They will get you in, then hide your subscription from your list of Apple subscriptions. You’ll forgot you have it, and then they will renew your subscription for twice the amount and refuse to refund you the money. And that’s after you spent several hours figuring out how to contact anytime at MasterCheats.
Good content. Bad apps.
The content is good and interesting. The Apps, both iPhone and Apple TV are really cumbersome. There are a bunch of things that they are trying to use other methods than the usual way of working on Apple devices and it makes it super cumbersome. Each time it’s so challenging to find out how to do some simple things. Some things I can only do in the iPhone App and some things only in the TV App which is so stupid to have to switch back and forth … also dumb little simple thing, their profile picture upload isn’t working properly. Kind of simple, good example of the rest of things not working correctly.
Worthless App
Cancelled them MONTHS ago after having purchased a year’s worth, because it’s a complete waste of money. Deleted it from my apps. Thought it was history. But today they charged me for an annual renewal. Can’t cancel again because they aren’t downloaded on my phone anymore. Having to go through my bank to cancel the fraudulent charge.

Good content, horrendous app
On iPad, the app is slow to open and you have to click the buttons multiple times before anything happens. Downloading classes is painful. There is no way to download all the lessons at once, you have to download each lesson individually. Downloading also runs into errors sometimes, but all you get is a question mark.

Peter Attia is a mandated reporter and as a physician has failed his greatest moral responsibility. His content should be removed from your platform. I would like my money refunded if his course will remain on your platform.
Garbage classes, garbage company
The classes are what they are, if you need famous people telling you platitudes go nuts. But the app sucks, it’s impenetrable. And the company is worse, scammers through and through. Just trying to cancel is impossible, and they will keep attempting to charge your card long after you’ve told them to stop. I have inquired with my payment processor about legal steps to get them to stop.

A few years ago, the classes were more comprehensive, giving you a deeper dive into the subject matter that felt more like taking a class-often complete with supplemental material.
A lot of the recently added “classes” are just a single 1-hour lecture. Feels more like a general overview than an actual class. I also do not appreciate their use of AI animations. Rather than hiring an animator, licensing stock footage, or filming actors (all of which would pay human beings for the content they create), it feels like MasterClass is cutting corners with AI slop to keep the costs down.
The result is a product that feels cheaper and less inspired than it used to be.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY-Predatory billing practices
I had ordered a year subscription to masterclass in 2024 and without reading fine print was unaware that I would be billed again the following year- and a higher rate at that. After I was billed I found that there was no forgiveness for this and masterclass does not allow refund of payment if you forget. Fine- I figured out the NOT straight forward or easy way to cancel my subscription via their website and concluded that I would make the best of the money I paid already(that over-drafted my bank account).
Now they are claiming I don’t have an account connected to my email and I cannot access material without resubscribing. And when I try to contact them via help I am met with extremely unhelpful AI.
Do yourself a favor- DONT SUBSCRIBE. The content is meh anyway. You can find their videos on YouTube for free- or better yet MORE INFORMATIVE CONTENT. Save yourself the insane price and hassle.

Masterclass in Extortion
Low quality videos that do nothing to educate you. You will drop it in a week then get slapped with a lovely $200 renewal when you forget to cancel with no hope of a refund for a product you never used. Good luck
Beware of Auto-Renew
I received a Materclass subscription as gift in 2024, and now have been charged $191 the past two years for a service I have not used since the initial gift subscription expired. Searching my inbox, junk & trash email turned up NO invoice for the initial renewal charge in 2025, and it’s been so long since I used the service, I thought the invoice I just received was a phishing scam. So, if you are considering gifting a Masterclass subscription to someone heed this warning, as it may ultimately cost you that relationship.
Currently unusable app
The app doesn’t accept my login credentials that I confirmed are correct on the website. When I restarted my phone and reinstalled the app, I logged in online, and opened the app, and it was a black screen with a gray bar at the bottom. Nothing else loaded.
Separately, when the app was working the suggestions upon opening the app were generic and not tailored to what I took the time to say I was interested in. They also never changed in the month that I was able to use the app successfully.

Awful
The app is awful, there is no way to back out of the video player so you have to kill the app if you need to back out. It constantly auto resumes videos when I don’t want. And courses I’ve saved often don’t show up in my list. Finding specific courses in their catalogue is frustrating.
No notice on renewal
The app auto renewals without any notice. I have asked for a cancellation the same day of the renewal and the bot is telling me it isn’t possible. Hopefully masterclass will do the right thing and if so, I will delete or update.

App only works if connected to WiFi. I bought the app so I could listen during my walks . I wasted my money. I spend my entire walk watching the cursor spin until I get an error message. Save your money unless you plan to only listen at home while connected to WiFi. Kind of defeats the purpose of a mobile app.

This app is absolutely HORRIBLE! Paid for a subscription that I never use - all because of the horrible app. You can’t contact anyone, because in the app (that is horrible) it says there is no email associated with the subscription - even though it is clearly showing my email. Terrible service and even worse app.

I requested my account be deleted on 12/23/2025. I say “requested” because users can’t just delete their account; you have to initiate the deletion process. On 12/28/2025 - 5 days after attempting to delete my account - I was charged $180. I was told by customer service that my account hadn’t yet been deleted and that refunds are not provided under these circumstances.

I found this app disappointing and borderline deceptive. The ads are classic clickbait-promising depth and transformation but delivering very little substance. Most of the instructors come across as self-important and spend more time repeating vague truisms than actually teaching anything practical or actionable.
To make matters worse, the subscription auto-renews without adequate notice. That alone is enough to erode trust, especially when paired with marketing that already feels misleading. Overall, this app prioritizes hype and ego over genuine learning value. I would not recommend it.

Terrible Customer Service
This has been the WORST experience. Your website clearly crashed and there is no support to resolve this problem. My pregnant wife is crying and nobody can make this right. We are going to lose this promotion and am going to post on social media.
Auto Renewal
We were set up on monthly payments then at the end of the first year they decided to switch us to the yearly plan with no notice and charged the full years amount.

The content is pretty shallow and uninspired. I watched a partial course and couldn’t find any more. I was automatically billed for a renewal on a gift subscription without any notice. No ability to cancel online. Terrible customer service. I deeply regret purchasing.

I added a card to the account and they billed me for a plan I didn’t select or request. Crazier is that the subscription 8 months in the past.

Unable to login via fb from iPhone
I have been unable to login for more than a week. Log ok on macbook laptop chrome and safari. I make sure to log out to any other devices before trying on the mobile app. Fails constantly with message "unavailable to log you in through Facebook. Try again later" it's been a week and renders this subscription useless if I can not use it on my mobile device. I will revisit and reconsider this review if the issue gets fixed asap. Bad Cancellation UI
Makes it hard to cancel and then emails you snarkily from a no reply. Link to sign in then goes straight to a place to add a new card. Dumb
Deceptive Billing
Very deceptive billing practices. They sell your information. Very difficult to get a hold of customer service. This company doesn’t practice any of the classes they offer.

Automatically renews without alerting. There are ways to make money not forcing people to renew it and if they try to cancel not providing a reasonable resolution.
Courses Are Impossible to Navigate
The courses themselves seem pretty good however the interface is awful. You can’t just go back and find your classes that you signed up for both search library discover everything just send you to find more classes and doesn’t take you back to the class that you’re working on. The AI is practically useless like what am I gonna learn from an AI about dribbling or shooting a basketball? The AI doesn’t help you navigate the course. The AI doesn’t help you troubleshoot support issues. The AI doesn’t help you find missing documents that are supposed to be part of the course. There is no support with this app or MasterClass, you can totally tell this is put together by some tech bros who fired everyone because AI was going to magically run everything.
Deceptive billing
My subscription had expired, but I got an offer to renew at a discount. When I signed up under the discount not only did they bill me twice for the same discounted subscription they also billed me for a renewal of the old subscription that had expired. When I asked them for a refund, they said @sorry we're having technical difficulties refunding your money." So instead of spending $80 today I got charged $400 with no idea when i will get my money back. So that's the end of my using MasterClass ever again.
UPDATE: they sent me a refund for one of the $79 charges, but the fine print states that the actual refund won't occur for 7-10 days. So Masterclass just skimmed $400 from my account 30 seconds after subscribing, but they are going to hold onto that money that i didn't authorize them to take for a couple of weeks.

Impossible to Cancel and Feels Like a Scam, Extremely Disappointed
This app operates like a trap. Trying to cancel is a nightmare, they make you jump through endless hoops, ignore cancellation requests, and keep charging your card anyway. It genuinely feels designed to lock you in against your will. No transparency, no respect for customers, and absolutely no accountability. I’ve never dealt with a service that fights this hard to keep charging you after you clearly ask them to stop. Avoid this app at all costs.

Like any media company, Masterclass has a clear left wing bias. I don’t mind hearing different opinions, but almost every course I’ve taken has clear ideological left wing viewpoints…it’s nauseating.

Signup, canceled, charged a year later
I signed up for the, watch a few masterclasses, found out it’s fluff, no substance the classes, and cancelled. I signed up for a year, no money back, no problem. But then I just got charged again! No way to enter into contact with customer service, or talk to them. Very frustrating.

I was very disappointed in the variety of options and lack of interesting classes. I was excited to use it and then found very little to listen to.

The app says cancel on the website. When i click “Cancel Subscription” on the website it dumps me back to the home screen without canceling!
Mobile App is no good
My mobile app experience is very disappointing. I bought this a year ago and was excited to use it on the go. After a month the content being fed to me was not what I asked for. You would think it’d be possible to search through the library but it is limited on the app. Very disappointing. I would like my money back.

Shady Renewal
Like so many unethical app developers, this one has a silent annual renewal where you get zero notice it’s renewing. I’ve hardly used the app and now I’m out another $120. Also there is no easy way to even cancel it inside the app. Shady!
