Unfortunately will not load with any USA based card I have even though it now claims foreign support. Update: essentially app does not support visa - the most widely used system. Highly recommend the developer turn on visa support for reasonable experience for folks visiting Seoul.

Just an awful experience with Tmoney App for foreigners. There are no clear directions to add funds using debt/credit. Even transit staff and locals are confused by the system: zero clarity.
Other reviewers are right, some card readers can’t read the phone wallet’s nfc. When this happens and you leave the station, you are charged the maximum fare. I’ve lost money again and again from this glitchy system.
Sadly It’s been this way for years. As of April 2026, it’s still awful to ride transit in Seoul as a foreigner.

다른 옵션이 있다면 절대 쓰지 않을 어플
어플 자체도 문제가 있고, 환불규정도 이게 과연 법적으로 허용되는 게 맞는지 궁금한, 제가 써 본 최악의 페이 어플입니다.
-실물동행카드: 대체 왜 매번 갖다대야 하는지 법적 근거나 기술적 한계가 뭔지 궁금함
-환불 수수료: 신용카드 결제 후 취소건을 환불해주지 않고 강제적으로 페이로 보관하게 하는데, 본인들이 이자를 주지는
않고 이를 환불하려 하면 도리어 수수료를 내야 함. 이게 대체 무슨 상황인지? 불법일 것 같은데.. 법적 근거 제시 필요함. 금감원에 문의 예정임.

앱 설정에서 언어 한국어로 변경해도 영어로 계속 나옴
전혀 언어설정 오류수정이 안되고있음 핸드폰 언어는 영어로 사용중이고 앱 내 언어 설정에 언어 선택할 수 있어서 한국어로 체크했는데 왜 내 휴대폰 언어 설정까지 바꿔야 하나요?

정말 앱을 바보로 만들었나 한글로 언어선택했는데 대부분 매뉴 영어로 나오고 그 외는 다 한글로 나오는 이런 짬뽕같은 앱. 계속 한글로 언어선택해도 앱 실행하면 다시 영어로 변경되어 있음. 아 진짜 욕나온다
Stay away ! It doesn’t work !
I successfully downloaded and added funds. It kept malfunctioning in every train station to the point of not letting us through. At the airport it no longer work and I still had 54,000₩ After multiple embarrassing failed attempts at just about every store and numerous ways someone suggested to delete and redownload. I did and now all my funds are gone. No one to help or assist. Thanks Korea, no desire to comeback! Save your headache and go to Japan!

I charge the t money transit but the money didn’t come in and my money is gone.I charge 3time I lost 90000won.I also contact the center but I didn’t get my reply yet

Useless for foreigners without SK bank
If you don’t have a SK band card, you can’t use this. You also can’t add money to the Apple Wallet implementation of Tmoney unless you have a SK bank card. Thanks!
Can’t load money from credit card issued in U.S.
Foreigners who don’t have Korean authentication has to go to Browse menu which I happened to figure out accidentally cause nothing works. There’s no instruction for that. And Add to Wallet image has to be tabbed. And then there’s no way to add money cause they don’t accept credit cards that was issued in U.S.

교통카드에 왜 본인인증과 확인이 필요해요?
일년에 한번은 한국에 들어가고 교통카드는 필수라 드디어 애플페이 연동 가능하다고 해서 기대했는데요. 교통카드 하나 발급받는데 핸드폰 번호 본인 인증이나 은행 인증이 왜 필요해요? 편의점에서 현금으로만 충전해야하는 불편함을 벗나 했더니. 어휴.

일본,미국,영국, 어디 가더라도 모바일 교통카드 충전 다 되는데 여기만 국어 배워도, 세계에서 조건 없이 제대로 되는 것이 다 안 됀다.
이래서 누가 이익을 먹는지 궁금한다.

Travelers are not welcome
Even with the Korean phone number if it’s prepaid phone it won’t work. I am in Korea now and tried register with the phone number from LGU+ it won’t let me.

What a joke of an app for foreigners or tourist visiting
Me and my wife tried to download the app and register with no luck. If you don’t have a phone number from Korea best of luck to you. This is a joke, even though I want to pay in cash I’m not able to, even thought I want to pay with the app I’m unable to register and that is all after I had to use a translating app and screenshot each screen so I can understand the instructions.
Do better! I can’t be the only foreigner with this issue. Embarrassing leaving money on the table. Luckily my bus driver understood and let me and my wife ride for free and would accept cash or any money.

스마트폰 후면에 카드를 갖다대면 50% 확률로 인식이 됩니다. 거기까진 봐줄만 해요. 귀여워요.

이 4가지 중 어느걸 선택해도 계속 똑같은 “카드인식하기“ 화면만 나오고 진행을 해도 그 이상 다른 화면으로 넘어가지를 않아요.
심지어 카드를 인식을 성공해도 ”내카드관리“ 메뉴에 들어가보면 등록이 안돼있어요.

외국인도 한국에 많이 오고 살고 티마니 카드 사용하는데 주민등록번호가 도대체 왜 필요 한지…?? 편의점에서 살때도 필요없고 한국 번호 없는 외국인들도 많은데 번호는 산다고 쳐도 주민등록은 어떡하라고? 외국인의 차별….. 🤬

현제 티머니GO 앱이 한국으로 위치가 잠금되어 iCloud 계정이 해외로 되어 있으면 아에 티머니GO 앱 검색도 안됩니다.
많은 분들이 여러 이유로 iCloud 계정이 해외 국지로 되어 있을수 있습니다. 만약 구독 서비스가 연결 되어 있으면 iCloud 위치 변경이 아에 불가능 합니다.
예전 시외버스 나 고속버스 앱들은 지역 상관 없이 앱스토어에서 검색/설치 가능 했는데 새로운 티머니GO 앱은 한국 지역으로만 설정 되어 있어 설치자체도 안됩니다.

* Payment is the Biggest Problem: You can link a T-Money card to your Apple Wallet, but unless you have a Hyundai credit card, you can't top it up directly through the app. This makes the mobile wallet feature almost useless for tourists.
* Charging Requires Extra Steps: To add money, you must use a charging machine at a subway station. You have to open the app, navigate to your card details, enable "Service Mode," and then place your phone on the machine to complete the transaction.
* Slow Tap-in/Tap-out Speeds: Physical T-Money cards work instantly, but the one in your Apple Wallet can randomly take 2-5 seconds to register at subway gates or on buses. This might not sound like a lot, but it can cause delays and frustration for people waiting behind you.
* Don't Forget to Tap Off the Bus: This rule applies to both physical and mobile T-Money cards. If you forget to tap your phone on the sensor when getting off the bus, you will be charged the maximum fare for that route and won't be able to use your card again until the next day.

Difficult for foreigners
It was very confusing to add this T-money card to the Apple wallet even though it’s visible on the transit section of the wallet. I was able to add it to my wallet by opening it on the t-money app. The problem is… if you don’t have a Korean cell phone number under ur name , you can’t even set up the t-money app so it’s completely useless for people who are traveling to South Korea. There should be an option for foreigners. Also I see a lot do travelers not knowing to tap in and tap out as they leave so explaining that on the app would be nice.

The App Store shows English as an option, downloads the app and went through the registration and English is not an option. Deleted.
외국인/교포 - 심각하게 불편합니다
해외에서 태어나고 한국 공항버스를 예매하려는데 심각하게 힘듬니다. 우선 외국인은 회원가입 자체가 불가능한거깉습니다. UX에서 해매는 것과 해외 셍용카드 결제, 통신사가 한국으로 고정된것 등등 산 넘어 산 입니다. 혹 한국에서 배제되는 느낌이 드네요.
