I bought a lifetime subscription and I wish I hadn’t. It teaches language in such a strange way. I can’t retain anything I learn. It doesn’t remember what you have trouble with and reinforce it. It is not worth the $200 I paid for it and now I’m stuck with it..
Hands-free hangs all the time.
The hands-free spoken part of the app often hangs when I forget a word, or am too slow to repeat a long phrase. Since this part is required to get past a lesson, I get stuck for days at a time. Not conducive to learning at all
Not a real free trial. I was charged immediately.
I tried the free trial and was charged immediately without clear notice. That’s not what most people expect from a ‘free trial.’ The app itself might be fine, but the billing setup feels misleading and left a bad first impression. Be careful before entering payment info.

Can’t cancel!
I just checked out the free trial and could immediately tell this is not easy to use. I’m trying to cancel but they don’t seem to have that option.

Inadequate Translations and Fluency Level Appropiation
After clicking advanced, the app is still continuing to try and teach me how to say basic introductions and vocabulary. And Привет does not mean Hello.

I thought I liked this app and I used it for about a week. I was using this specifically for the hands free. And every time I get half way through the lesson, it starts to act like it doesn’t hear me. And it says “skip for now?” And hears me say “no.”
It will continue the lesson and then if I get an answer wrong it disconnects and makes the WORST “you’re connection is low noise”

Extremely difficult to cancel
I wanted this for my kids to learn a new language. A lot of websites said they have a “family” option, but the website was very difficult to find any information about this. I went ahead a got a premium subscription, only to immediately be told I could add other users for 3x 4x what had already paid. Then it was extremely difficult to cancel my subscription and end auto renewal - I had to navigate multiple layers of a website I could only even access by getting a link emailed to me several times. It’s deliberately extremely difficult to cancel. This whole app feels like a scam. Avoid like the plague.

A nightmare to cancel
I wanted to cancel the subscription and it was honestly a nightmare, you can’t do it from the app, you are redirected to another website and it just kept getting worse, I then tried to cancel it and it didn’t even give me the option. Still fighting to get this cancelled ASAP.

Impossible to get any useful information
I’ve been charged for Mondly. The charge is on my credit card statement. But I’ve spent too much time trying to figure out my basic account information. When I try using the app, it just keeps asking for more money! Thus far for me it’s not only useless but a useless and costly hassle.
liked the app until they started using ai for image generation
i genuinely wish i could stop having to find out that companies that i really believed in, and stood behind have opted to go to AI for assets, or employee replacements. AI is killing the planet, and i really wish that you’d just use stock photos > ai slop. the sentences are okay, less clunky than duolingo for sure

Better Options Available
I‘m very disappointed in Mondly. I wanted to learn some Czech and based on what I had read this seemed like a better option than the more popular apps. Boy, was I wrong. I am unable to go back and review the words it says I already know…and there seems to be no clear reason for Mondly choosing the words and phrases. As further evidence of its disorganization, it shows I’m learning Spanish, Korean and French?? What?? I feel like I wasted my money on the premium version. My simple advice, stay away and find a better option.
Not sure what it is teaching
While there is an opportunity to practice speaking, the app does not seem to pick up what I am saying. I think I am saying it reasonably well but the app does not recognize it as such and provides no feedback for improvement. It just says say it again over and over and over again. It also likes to start with difficult phrases right away. Keep looking for a better app.

Even with a strong signal, it will error out with losing a connection. Makes it difficult to use hands free while driving
Very limited, basically only good for vocabulary
I was really hopeful for this app. I have pretty decent vocabulary and grammar knowledge with Hungarian and I want to be able to practice. The voice practicing forces asl response rather than allowing me to try something new. For example the prompt was what sport do you like, and it gave me some options to say back, such as I like to play tennis. I said én kosarlabdazni szeretek, I like to play basketball and it marked it wrong. Also I’m a hands free exercise it requested for me to say the sun is yellow. “A nap sárga” Hungarian doesn’t have word order though, so “Sárga a nap.” Should be relevant as well, but was marked wrong. Why would I pay money to repeat canned responses?

I love that you can buy a lifetime subscription (have to find it off the app, Google it) but I’m learning Japanese and I use 3 different apps and it doesn’t explain almost anything when it comes to sentence structure and half the words you can’t even look up while learning so I have to Google it.

The conversation practice doesn’t really recognize and accept inputs other than responses suggested and a bit buggy
so so… depends on Language
5 star for latin based (Western) languages and 1 star for Asian languages.
