Awful changed spending tracking features
The new “Trends” feature in place of the old spending tracking makes no sense. It used to be that you could track and mark targets for how much spending you did besides things like rent or bills that were beyond your control, and then in another section you could see how much was just withdrawn overall that month. Now the replaced feature is not intuitive at all, and if you “exclude” a category from spending, it still counts towards your target but is removed from your withdrawal summary from the month? That makes NO sense. Please, PLEASE change it back- I have no idea who you tested this with, but it is awful.

If I wanted to transfer the money from my Monzo account to my bank account, there were no options to just do it without exposing and opening my bank transactions to them and to a third party app. I did not feel safe doing that so I had to find a different way to send my own money back to me and the struggle was not worth having the app. So I am uninstalling it after this review.

The froze and cancelled my family's account on a Friday. And later I couldn't even log in for the help feature. I called the number and the card and the lady just said only the email help department can answer any questions on that. So I emailed and the response just said the can't provide information on the decision to cancel. It messed up our financial situation so bad, I have one paycheck was direct deposited to the account after it was closed because my payroll lady is out. Now I'm missing a full check and they won't even communicate. Avoid them at all costs.

Can’t Change Address or Use Cards with Apple Wallet
Will not let me add cards to apple wallet despite using digital wallet prior to 10/2025. Have been asking support for months to correct. Will not send me an updated physical debit card to my updated address because they do not “accept” the USPS OFFICIAL CHANGE OF ADDRESS DOCUMENT as an acceptable document for an address change?
This bank would be great otherwise but these very simple admin changes has caused an insane amount of inconvenience and confusion for ZERO logical reason.

They know their product is inferior
The fact that it’s nearly impossible to close your account, and that you have to chat with them and then the instructions they give don’t work, means that they know their product is inferior and the only way to keep clients is to make it next to impossible to leave. They are worst than a shady used car dealership that holds your keys or Driver’s License. And now I’m worried about them having my personal information. So do not use this product. There are so many better apps out there.

Doesn’t work on iPad
When I tried to access my account from an iPad my account got locked and I was forced to do face recognition which does not work on the iPad (the video is blank).
If your application doesn’t work on iPad, please prevent users from installing it, as it is extremely scary to have your account locked for legitimate access.

Worst customer servi from a “bank” I’ve ever experienced in my life
Not sure what I was smoking the night I decided to make this my primary bank account but I can tell you when I found out what it was I’m throwing it out.
I’m waiting for my direct deposit to hit so I can transfer it out of this “bank” and close the account completely.
The customer service alone has infuriated me to the point that there isn’t even a point in staying with the bank when there are 100 other mobile banks with better service, features and UI. Attempting to cancel a dispute for a charge that I was able to locate and confirm has been a nightmare.
Especially when they are charging $10 a month for “pro features” that are provided for completely free by other banks. If you’re going to take and sell my data, the least you can do is provide me with a proper experience.
The virtual cards are nice but I get those free with no hassle and great service from Revolut and Chime. That’s really the only thing cool about the bank account. The UI isn’t amazing, the “offers” are pretty pitiful, and the support chat (which is really more like sending an email since they take forever to respond) just does whatever they want with your request.

Don’t even know why I got a card
Got the app to access the card I received in mail and after 10 or attempts trying to use MY phone number it kept acting like I didn’t have an account and then would tell me the phone number was in use, so I finally used someone else I know’s phone number, did the verification and everything, all for it to say it’s gonna send me ANOTHER card . I was just simply trying to access the card I already got in the mail. I never heard or even used this app I already have enough finance apps that do work, this is very suspicious and weird.

$10/mo but still no way to cash a check
I’ve been a huge supporter of Monzo since they launched the U.S. app. It’s come a long way and I’ve been very impressed and happy with the progression.
Despite it being the top requested feature they still don’t have a way to cash a check. Although this has inconvenienced me semi-regularly, I kept holding out for a day that I’d be able to cash a check in the app. Now they are going to be charging for features that I’ve had access to since the beta. The app will become somewhat useless to me since I’m not going to pay $10/mo for the stupid “pro” features it includes-and STILL, there’s no way to cash a check.
Monzo is trying to cash in on their users naivety, hoping they won’t notice the number one requested feature from the beta is still yet to be seen. Well, I noticed. So bye.

DON'T USE APP
Banking with them for a year so , terrible service and unorganized system . You would have to wait hours even days and/or weeks if It gets to the point . Useless phone number that you can't even talk to a human mostly "call volumes are high" responses when you attempt to reach out . Please do yourself a favor and don't try this app. Everything is fine until you dispute unauthorized transactions and they do not refund your funds, but close your account-horrible customer service. I had the most awful experience with this mobile banking. I sent a complaint to the bank regulator and I'm almost going to court to be able to recover my money. Monzo doesn't care about customers but Money. So try out other better options to do business with.

Don’t lose your money! Use chime or other apps
This app closed my account after a few weeks without reasoning even though all my funds were legitimate. It took them two months after restriction to finally close the account and I am yet to receive my remaining balance from them. They have no customer service number, just a chat where they take hours or days to respond. AI generated responses and bad customer service overall. Honestly, I’ve never had a worst experience with a bank in my life.

Difficult to Contact Support
Devs….fix this immediately.
This is a banking app.
I think it’s ridiculous that you guys have the chat option hidden within the “report fraud” section and NOWHERE else in the app.
It should not be that difficult for anyone dealing with a bank to have to search that hard to contact their bank.
The “Help” button at the bottom right. Is merely just a FAQs section. The chat option should be front and center at the very top. Above the FAQs sections.
NOT hidden with the fraud reporting.
Customer service, should be #1 priority. Get with the program. Make it easier for your users to contact you.
Also, make it easier for us to update our address.
Otherwise. If that wasn’t an issue, I’d give Monzo 5 stars. It’s a fantastic banking app. I will update my review, when this contacting support issue and change of address is addressed.

Extremely Upset
Today, November 14, 2024, I received an email from Monzo, abruptly announcing the closure of my account without any prior warning or explanation. Despite my calls and emails, I’m met with silence-no response, no assistance. It’s appalling for a bank to behave this way, disregarding the trust of its customers.
Let me be clear: my account information is entirely legitimate. I use this account as a safe place for my savings, only transferring money when necessary. To have it closed with no valid reason speaks to nothing but ignorance and poor handling on Monzo’s part. The fact that others have reported similar issues makes this even more alarming-had I known this was typical of Monzo, I would have closed my account myself long ago.
The impact of this closure is distressing. I have essential expenses, including medications, bills, and my daughter’s birthday tomorrow, all of which rely on these savings. Monzo’s abrupt and baseless actions have caused a deeply hurtful inconvenience. I’m now prepared to take this further, and I’ll be working with others who have faced similar treatment to pursue a class-action lawsuit. This experience has been unacceptable and a betrayal of customer trust.

Cool app, bad customer service
Switched over from Chase because the budgeting features looked impressive. But I’ve had a frustrating experience with Monzo’s customer service reps. They blocked my card because of a fraud dispute and have not reactivated it or even provided an update in over two weeks. I’ve been unable to access my money and nobody responds via their chat support. They also don’t support Zelle. Never appreciated these basic things from the bigger banks until now.

WORST BANK
Honestly the most unreliable bank ever, they’ve frozen my money for no apparent reason. I’m an international university student about to get evicted because Monzo blocked my account and I can’t afford the rent. I’m overdue by almost 2 weeeks and when I call Monzo to ask why they blocked my account they don’t say. I’ve called about 20 times and they’ve lied to me each time saying they’d call back in a few hours. It’s now been 3 weeks and I can’t even afford the bus to school.

Disappointed
A month ago I would have given 5 stars, however I filed a dispute for a charge I didn’t recognize, which then caused Monzo to block my debit card temporarily(so they say) until the dispute is finalized. I wasn’t even able to order a new card, which wouldn’t be that big of a deal but I get my paychecks direct deposited to this account and now I have no way of accessing my money unless I do a bank transfer Which takes 2-3 days. So the dispute was finally finalized on 10/1/24 and it’s 10/11/24 and my card is still blocked and Monzo support won’t respond to my chat messages or my emails. I’m so frustrated because I need my money. This is the worst customer service ever. I can’t wait to get my money out of there and close that account. Horrible!!

First, I posted a video on TikTok showcasing their abysmal customer service/support, in the video, you can see that I have a chat open, an email thread, AND am on the phone with Monzo’s customer service during their hours of operation (8AM-5PM PT). I have been on the phone for 3 hours, waiting on an email reply for 17 hours, and waiting on a response from the “live” chat for 2 days 8 hours and 47 minutes. This company does Not care about you, or me.

Everything about this service has been One Star. •”Miles-Parker”: Agent who was well, pretty rude and unhelpful anytime I told him I cannot upload my Residential Lease in the chat. He then says “We’ve equipped you to be able to upload all the necessary verifications” and doesn’t respond for almost two days, also that is not true the only things you can upload are pictures and a Live Photo. So I emailed Monzo and attached my Residential Lease to it, got an email almost two days later-- asking me to resend the information I just sent… Still waiting on account creation, this is crazy. Currently on the phone now calling and have waited for 23 minutes so far. I will not be changing this review because the customer support behind Monzo is abysmal. It seems like you cannot make a Monzo account or will have EXTREME issues if you happen to have an ID or Drivers License, that doesn’t match up with your current address. Beware guys and save yourselves the headache. Also Monzo- if you see this and reply telling me to contact your customer support, I have been trying to. They don’t answer or reply. And if they do reply, it will be ONE time per day, at around 2-4AM. So, just hope that you’re pulling some kind of one-nighter and get to respond in time otherwise they won’t reply for the rest of the day until 2-4AM as stated before lol.
