App no longer syncs with watch
I paid for the Premium subscription, but The app no longer syncs with my watch. I am unable to get it to sync my own quotes. I only get the quotes that come with the app. I prefer my own quotes for my specific life circumstances. I miss seeing them on my watch when I look at the time each day. I contacted their support team but they did not help me. I got an email stating that they were working on the problem but I never heard back from them. No follow up, no help. So sad.
Update: Monkey Taps reached out to me about 3 weeks ago saying they would look into the problem, but I have not heard anything from anyone. Nothing. I guess I will have to request a refund and find something else.
Update: 5/7/26: still no answer and no help from customer service. I gave up and deleted this app and got a full refund. I now use an app called, Complicate It, that syncs with my watch using my own quotes.

Spam + Expensive
It’s not free, you have to pay yearly for it which wasn’t fully disclosed up front. They constantly spam you with notifications and the streak thing is a complete joke, doesn’t even work properly. Just go watch a YouTube tutorial and make an app like this for free with Visual Studio.

Subscription
I canceled my subscription a few days before the end date on my free trial but the app still tried to charge me and there’s nothing I can do about it and I would like to download apps on my iPhone but since the charge didn’t go through for $51.18 it messed up my phone called apple support and they say the only thing to do is let the charge go through I don’t have the money for it and it should have charged anyways

It’s a rip off. $40 for some quotes. I cancelled before the subscription charged my account and then it was still charged. POS company.
Horrible app once you download you will never be able to remove the app.
If you’re thinking about downloading this app don’t do it!!! I downloaded it and then once you get to the end you have to sign up for the service. So I just deleted the app. Now I have an alarm on my phone set at 6:00 am every morning 7 days a weeks that you can’t stop!!!! No sleeping in on your day off.

Insulting Quotes, Really??
This is the terrible quote I got on my paid version today. Uninstalled and canceled subscription.
The "motivational" quote: "You're not as good as you think. You don't have it all figured out. Stay focused. Do better." And this was not a one time thing - I turned off categories about relationships, but kept getting quotes about leaving toxic relationships or quotes like "let him go you're better off without him." Ick. It's this app that is toxic.

I never leave reviews but this app irritated me so much. It asks about 50 questions before it surprises you with a subscription package

this stupid app didn’t even ask me if i wanted to get the premium status but they charge me $35 a month anyway. I’m assuming I won’t get my money back but it’s stupid that they will randomly charge people without asking them. $35 is a lot for this dumb app
Horrible company, beware of scams
They will automatically renew your subscription to an annual subscription before the free trial ends then refuse to refund you when you cancel the service before the trial is over

There is no “free trial”
They charge me $19.99 as soon as I subscribed for the “free trial”. I didn’t understand why it was only a free trial. I tried to contact support and they don’t even have customer support. It has been more than a month I didn’t get a refund.
Deleted app that still sends notifications
I deleted the app yet it still gives me notifications at 7 in the morning.

I used to really like Motivation App. It had a clean design, solid quotes, and one feature I genuinely thought was cool, you could use wallpapers directly inside the app. It felt like a small but thoughtful touch. What made it even better was that there were free wallpapers available, so even if you didn’t want to pay, you could still get value out of it. But lately, the app has gone downhill hard. Now they’re charging absurd prices for wallpapers, something that used to feel like a bonus feature now feels locked behind a paywall that doesn’t make sense. It’s not even about supporting developers anymore, it just feels greedy. The vibe of the app completely changed. What used to feel motivating and well-designed now just feels like it’s trying to squeeze money out of users at every turn.
It’s disappointing, because the app actually had something good going for it. Honestly, I can’t recommend it anymore.

Can’t turn off notifications
I have my notifications turned off on the app and I’ve even deleted the app off my phone. It still goes off every day at 2:48. I’ve tried everything. Apps becoming a pest.

There used to be a few nice options for free, and I really liked those; but it really made me want even more, so I purchased the subscription FOR THE YEAR. But NOW YOU GET NOTHING except a black screen and plain white lettering AND CONSTANT REQUESTS TO UPGRADE. That’s what I got for being a faithful customer!!! So I’ll do my business ELSEWHERE!! Am cancelling the entire app!!!

Love the motivation....when it works
I've had this app for a while and it's been great, until it hasn't been. Recently it takes MANY tries to open the app, if it will open at all. No matter what I do it gives me a problem and won't open. I lost my streak due to this issue. It's very disappointing and not very motivational.

Some stuff should be free
I’ve had this app for six almost 6 years now. And I understand that the creators do have to make money by paying advertisements and offering a premium features for a monthly subscription. If you want to try and charge me for fancy backgrounds fine. If you wanna charge me for specific quotes to be unlocked, fine. Make your money.
But I highly disagree with not being able to have access to the quotes that I’ve liked, and the quotes that I once shared to add to the app. I liked those quotes for a reason, because I was feeling really down or it just spoke to me on a different level. So you mean to tell me I can never look back on those liked quotes simply because I do not wish to pay the subscription? The quotes that got me through tough times that inspired me that I might want to share with other people and therefore also guess what technically advertise for this app.
Second thing and this is what really hurts me. I added quotes from my dad to this app, hoping that I could look back and see them seeing as my dad has now passed. But I can never look at those quotes again unless I pay money. So those sentimental, heartfelt words that he shared with me or that I shared with the app that I heard from somewhere else. Even though they’re my own words, even though I shared them, I don’t have access to that? That just sits wrong with me.
