Why force Bluetooth to add a product?
I have a Gen5detect Absolute which does Not have Bluetooth functionality. So, why does the app not allow me to skip turning on Bluetooth and continue with adding the vacuum I own to "My products"?
I will not allow the app permissions that are not necessary. Therefore, I am unable to register my vacuum to my account.
The whole reasons I'm even trying to use the app in the first place is because I need to contact support for an issue with the seal in the main housing coming out on the new vacuum. I'm no way should a vacuum as expensive as this one have any issues so shortly after being it's service life.

Who came up with this design, unusable and very unintuitive. Too many taps to get basic info. Return to old design please.

I have two Dyson vacuum cleaners registered in my online account. Neither one will show up in this app. When I try to add a device it wants to connect to something using Bluetooth. What?????

Terrible App Design, Dropped Connections
The old app design was awful, the new design is even worse. You can’t see graphs easily, the UI is bloated and unorganized. Ads? Yeah, it’s got that too. Can’t stop trying to monetize us customers.
And the worst part? After all that garbage they fail at even the basics: the machines still won’t stay connected and need constant reboots to come online. Insanely frustrating.

Dyson VisNav 360 IS AWFUL
There are major problems with this app, and in over two years, Dyson is refusing to update the app so it’s actually functional. The vacuum works okay if your house is completely rectangular, but if you have a diagonal island or a diagonal wall, forget about it. Every other competitor to Dyson will allow you to set a diagonal wall divider, but when I asked Dyson when and if they would be adding this feature, they told me that as a customer, I have zero right to know when OR IF they are going to make any changes to their app. So I’m stuck with a $1300 vacuum that can’t vacuum my house because our house has diagonal walls in addition to rectangular walls. And don’t even get me started on the fact that it doesn’t empty the bin. If I vacuum my living room, I have to empty the stupid thing three times. So why bother it with a robot vac if you constantly have to babysit it? And it also can’t run at night because it needs light. But the software is substandard, and Dyson has zero interest in fixing it because all they care about these days are hair dryers. If any company could’ve made the best robot vac on the planet, it was Dyson. But they choose not to, only releasing a miserable excuse for a robot.

I have a Dyson floor fan that’s a couple of years old. This app worked fine last year with it. It does not work this year. It tells me it can’t work with my model. What changed?
Obnoxious and Intrusive Marketing
Love my Dyson products, but this app is absolutely terrible lately as they’ve been sending pure marketing sales junk via app notification, despite having the marketing notifications via app checkbox UNCHECKED. The only other preferences in the app for notifications is for filter life and any device issues. Those are the only ones I have on. So stop sending marketing to my lock screen! Get it together, Dyson!

The robot cleans great, however the Dyson network often goes down during cleaning. It’s not my internet, it’s Dysons. Please advise. I’ve always turned the unit off and back on. That didn’t help. Thank you.
Navigation is Terrible
The unit cleans well but the mapping feature is not worth the price. Have to manually put it on the charger 9 out of 10 times. The mapping just gets worse and worse with every update.

So impossibly dumb
A user can never delete a device, regardless, if it was defective and returned. Support technicians are not allowed to delete that device from my app. hardly a premium experience.
Precise location always?
I cannot believe there is any reasonable justification for a vacuum to have precise location *always* in order to get software updates
New version app sucks
Your latest version of the app is destroyed all connectivity that existed between my cell phone and all of the Dyson devices that I have in my home and none of them will reconnect it. It’s all a definite problem with your app fix it and fix it now.
New app design not great
I’m so glad that I can turn off the “New app design”. It’s too condensed, visually boring and bland (so grey), foregrounds the fact that I have to use the remote to control the heat (which I know and don’t need to be reminded of), and hides viewing graphs. Please always make this “New app design” optional or get rid of it all together.
High money- low quality
I bought three of these Dyson lamps in 2022. Two of them have since either needed a new power supply & the other was irreparable. The app CONSTANTLY losses connection & feature wise is sub-par. Dyson has a premium vision for these but low budget execution. Buyers beware.
App needs 24/7 location data
The app claims this is to keep my stick vacuum software up to date. But it’s an upright floor vacuum…what software needs updating? The app provides no benefit for PencilVac owners other than showing the battery charge level (also shown on the vacuum’s screen) and the number of minutes you most recently spent vacuuming. You can’t even see the history of use. Feels like they are just trying to harvest and sell my private location data.

Their developers have completely broken the registration process by requiring you to connect their fans to the internet before you have been asked for your WiFi details so the fan can connect to the internet. Obviously this means it’s currently impossible to register a device. Facepalm.
Their support is worse than LLM support, so maybe they’ll actually start using AI for that too (it would be an improvement).

Sub-Par Navigation
With other brands using lidar this unit uses optics. Which causes it to not perform optimally. My unit regularly gets “lost” and ignores designated “avoid” areas. For the money the unit performs poorly. No way to manually set vacuumed areas… nor is the interface user friendly. I expected more from Dyson but sadly this product falls short.
No DISTRESS notification!
There is NO distress notifications pushed to the iPhone when the robot needs assistance in order to enable distressed notifications on your iPhone. You actually have to listen to the sound of the robot running with your EARS at that point once you find out that you can’t hear your robot running step one immediately go to the app and see if it’s docked if it is not docked then you get up look around for the robot wherever it is and rescue the robot. STEP TWO GO TO THE APPLE APP STORE AND WRITE A REVIEW SAYING THERE ARE NO PUSH NOTIFICATIONS WHEN THE ROBOT GOES IN DISTRESS. if HomeKit was turned on, I’d be able to have my vacuum turn the lights on in the room as it approaches it right now I have to walk upstairs and turn the lights on for the robot. Thanks Dyson This is a five star product as soon as they turn on Siri shortcuts for the 360 navigation robot. Right now Dyson is only allowing Jeff Bezos and Mr. Or Ms. Google to control your robot. With Google and Mr. Bezos, they’re able to track and view your home

We’ve had three replacement machines over the past 18 mos. Cleaning works quite well, but the software and mapping system are terrible. Constantly have to re-connect to the WiFi, never works remotely and despite multiple times mapping my apartment, it still cannot sort its way. Dyson should withdraw the product and relaunch after it fixes all the problems!

APP needs lots of work
Love the vacuum, APP falls short and needs work!
I programmed to vacuum house daily at 10.
Vacuum stopped in one of the rooms and just shut down while I was at work. The app did not show me where or why the robot stopped and I was unable to access it online.
I also own an iRobot roomba , and I get notified of any issues during the cleaning cycle. Once notified I am able to stop the clean and send it home to its dock.
I am also able to “ping” it if it gets stuck or lost, under a bed, corner, etc so I am easily able to locate it with a sound.
Sadly, the Dyson APP doesn’t do that. I’m hoping they improve the app with some updates that include these features.

Mapping is terrible
Love the way the vacuum cleans. Programming needs some serious Program avoid areas doesn’t work half the time.Docking still has trouble.
I got the Tim Walz Edition
It has yet, about 12 times to map out my home. It’s a single floor home. 2 bedrooms not a difficult home. Right now it’s been “ returning “ to base for 7 minutes and counting. I put it on do the entire home 1000? Square feet and when I look at the map it quits after 230? I can still hear it trying to find home base! This is great at cleaning when it can find it but on a whole MAJOR WASTE OF MONEY!!!

I got the Cool purifier for Christmas and love it so far…wish there was at least a link to a written version of the tutorials…I guess I’m the type of person who likes to be able to reference user guides and learn about my new purchase. Is there more?
