Please get some developers to fix the bugs in the app especially if foreigners like us are being forced to use it since Google maps doesn’t work well out here.
I can’t even set up an account
I tried setting up an account from my home network immediately I was suspended. It says I need to verify identity, but there are no avenues to verify my identity.

Terrible App
Traveling in Korea and setup an account to use navigation while in the country. Typical Korean app…most are useless or very difficult to use for visitors. I visit frequently and lived here for several years.

Suspended my account because I am based in the US, and not in SK. I had saved a bunch of places on my account and now I have to start from scratch on KakaoMap.

Randomly suspends accounts
Don’t waste your time. Do a search for “NAVER account suspended” and you’ll see thousands of complaints exactly like mine: they suspend your account hours after signup claiming you need further verification, and when you send your passport and other info they have no business asking for, they accuse you of identity theft and say go away, with no recourse. It’s insane.
Fix broken login
App security measures are TERRIBLE. Incorrectly identifies users as bot accounts and blocks all login with little recourse
Garbage
Not very useful if you’re not a native to South Korea, aka foreigner. Garbage if you’re trying to navigate using the Public bus system. Not sure if there is anything out there that is in English that can help you get around the public bus system. It sure as hell is not this app. I had way more success using Chat GPT.
Sign-up problems. No effective support.
Completely unable to sign up for an account which cripples many features. I have attempted several times to create an account, and it’s locked for fraud each time. I have even provided a picture of my government-issued passport as requested by support - no luck. It’s a shame that navigating within Korea basically requires either this app or its major competitor as both of them are nearly inaccessible to foreigner tourists. While I have no doubt that they work OK for Koreans, using them presents major problems for tourists attempting to visit the country, and the app developers seem incapable of providing support for foreign users.

Wrong positioning, wrong direction-navigation shouldn't default my current location as the starting point. That's extremely foolish.
Won’t show restaurant rating
It doesn’t show restaurant ratings for foreigner. I can’t even copy address from the app. UI is slow and not smooth at all.
Occasionally Functional
After using this app in Seoul, it is occasionally accurate for trains but is very inaccurate buses. Missed multiple buses due to incorrect labeling and time schedules. App is difficult to navigate to find sites, restaurants, and cafes.
Demanding login and receipts for reviews
Yeah this policy stops businesses from getting the negative reviews they deserve. Fix it or I’m moving back to Kakao maps

It’s Gotten Worse
This used to be my map app of choice in Korea, but the decreasing quality led me to KakaoMaps. Movie times used to be on theatre descriptions and they’re gone. The search function is completely useless. Voice navigation is so bad I had to turn it off. Very disappointing.
AWFUL app
I have to delete and redownload this app every couple of weeks because all my bookmarks and saved locations get erased by itself like clockwork. It's annoying and always inconvenient.

Use kakaoMap if you’re a foreigner
The app was working fine for me until I booked a service through the app. After my appointment was confirmed and I had been charged a deposit amount, my account got suspended from signing in with NAVER stating “the account was joined from abuse-suspicious location or in an abnormal process.” Upon searching on Reddit, Facebook, TikTok this seems to be a regular issue for foreigners. Even after appealing and sending the necessary documentation my account is still suspended. For foreigners, there is no direct contact information (phone number, chat or email) for help.
Randomly deletes everything you’ve saved
Tried to use this to save locations I wanted to visit on vacation. One day I opened it and every location I had saved to visit was deleted. Only the default list was there and it had nothing in it, and there was no way to get anything back. Asked on Reddit and turns out the same thing happened to others. It’s good for navigation imo cause you can search in the Roman alphabet but horrible if you want to save anything for later. Like what map apps are often used for. Get this for searching in foreign alphabets and kakao map for everything else.

Why this app is published in oversea App Store if it doesn’t allow foreigner to register at all

While registering, it asks your cell where you can selecte the number from all over the world. Verification code received. And nightmare began.
On the second day the account is suspended, note: I found this out 2 days later as there was no notification at all even it asked you for cell and email. It asks you to verify yourself and the tells you your network is suspicious.
This is by far the worst app experiences and if you don’t support people from foreign countries, just not release it to app stores, or clearly say it during the registration process. Such a WASTE of time.

Take my money and block me
I booked a tour on the app. They charged my credit card and then blocked my account. No way to contact anyone to resolve this. What a scam!
Too difficult to use as a foreigner
This app is VERY difficult to use as a foreigner. We ended up defaulting to Google maps and Uber (US download). Without a Korean ID, credit card, and phone number it’s not user friendly at all for foreigners. I stopped using after one day of trying to use and log in so I could save locations. Back to Google maps and Uber.

The only reason I used this app was because Google & Apple map don’t work in Korea. Korean Govt hasn’t given permission to Google & Apple Maps to operate in Korea, because to save these 2 Junk apps Naver & Kakao map.

Bugs in new update
New update makes it so that the app keeps using gps location even after closing the app. The blue gps symbol stays on the top of my screen forever, even when my screen if off. Please fix this. I don’t want to keep having to force close the app from the app switcher and then reopen the app.

NAVER is terrible
Well I’ll start by saying that the map itself isn’t too bad but google maps is just as good it just won’t draw you an exact line for walking or driving in South Korea like NAVER does. When setting up a NAVER account make sure to use a email as a backup and turn off your vpn while using it for booking something like a restaurant reservation. If you don’t your account will get suspended and you will be unable to recover it. I got a message saying my device was coming from somewhere suspicious location (vpn) and that it is suspended. Why would they not like vpns idk makes no sense to me people should have the right to protect their data but I guess not if NAVER is involved. I think the only suspicious party is NAVER for there total lack of customer support and ability to foresee potential issues with there app and come up with reasonable solutions.

Naver please fix your app. Why am I getting suspended from my accounts left and right and losing all of my saved stars. I appealed, sending my passport and personal information and yet you send an automated response of “oh there’s nothing we can do”. I am certainly not the only one who’s gone through this and to do it to me twice in two days is diabolical.
Deletes everything you saved
I tried to use this to plan my trip to Seoul but one day I logged in to bookmark a few more places and EVERYTHING I had saved was gone. I heard people saying good things about it so I didn’t make a second map anywhere else so everything is just gone and I can’t get it back.
Can’t create account
Need korean phone number to create an account in Korea even though i have a valid US number that got their verification code
Didn’t tell me where I was
I was recently in Korea with my family and I had heard that NAVER map was a good mapping app. That is not true, I thought that the app would tell you where you are located, and it doesn’t. Which isn’t helpful suggesting that it was my first time in Korea. We were frantically looking for signs and often had to ask locals where certain things were located. I don’t suggest using NAVER as a guide for your Korean trip.
Impossible to Make An Account
If you're a foreigner, good luck trying to use this app. Basic features like pinning locations are locked behind a login, and every available account-making feature doesn't work. The captcha doesn't work, phone verification codes never get sent, and they say they offer Facebook login but then it says the app is disconnected and cannot be used. Completely broken and useless.

Downloaded to iPhone before my trip to Seoul. Got to Terms of Use page. Scrolled thru terms to end. No checkbox. ACCEPT button greyed out. Can’t get past this screen. Does this only work IN Korea??
