Nest Payroll

I understand that setting up taxes is nuanced and complicated. But I think that is the point of this service. With that in mind, you would think that they’d be able to support challenging or unique circumstances, and navigating tax bureaucracy. They have a number to text to, but no one responds. They take days to get back on support emails and then the content is incorrect and/or unhelpful. I wish we had not used this.

They claim that ongoing tax support is included with an active subscription but when I requested my tax records while my subscription was active, I was told I would need to pay for past months when I didn’t use the service + $139 for year end reporting. I only used the service for a couple months then my child went to daycare, and they won’t give me tax records for this time without me paying hundreds of dollars extra. Their advertising is completely misleading. I’m reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint with my credit card tomorrow. BEWARE!

Yes, it does payroll, but impossible to not make errors, no ability to print reports, no ability to track spending. No web portal, iPhone only…

They advertised themselves as covering my state on their website. But once I signed up I found out that they do not cover employee withholding for state taxes in my state. They were very nice and the customer service was responsive. They told me that household employees in my state don’t legally need the employer to do withholding, so the don’t cover it. They suggested my employee do estimated tax payments and even volunteered to walk her through it. However I was able to find another payroll agency that would do the state withholding, so canceled with Nest and went with the other company.
Good/responsive customer service, but they clearly don’t offer quite as much service as the bigger agencies, and they didn’t voluntarily advertise that they don’t fully cover my state.
