UNPROFESSIONAL
I will not subscribe to this service because I was unable to access even a single article. Furthermore, they do not fulfill the promise of providing one free article per day. I have no intention of using this application or visiting their website, as they seem more interested in profit than supporting free journalism.
Bias, imbalance, misleading headlines and factual inaccuracies
NYT reporting on Israel and Gaza has fueled false narratives, antisemitism, Jew hatred and antizionism. Additionally Kristof's shoddy piece should have never been run even as an opinion piece and it was disgusting to print the day before the 1200 page report came out on Hamas' rapes, sexual mutilation and torture, and other atrocities of October 7
Unusable on older iOS
Aside from the incessant vertical video integration, the terrible privacy policy, and the fact that this app makes the majority of NYT’s journalism exceedingly difficult to find, this app is also just completely broken on older iOS operating systems. Like, literally, completely unusable.
Best to use the NYT RSS to keep up to date on what’s happening, and read articles in browser (computer browser, preferably). Print is fine too, as long as you don’t mind waiting a few days - everything’s right there.

If there’s a search function, I can’t find it
Having scrolled endlessly through the app, looking for a search function, I have finally given up, realising the content I was looking for wasn’t worth the effort.
Paid and not even reliable
I shouldn’t have to pay for information, that’s stupid. I downloaded the app because I wanted to read an article I googled. Upon opening the app I can’t find the original article anywhere even when I search the exact name and date.
Don’t download this slop.

Trash search
The search function on this app is trash. Even when I search the exact recipe title I know is in collection, the results don’t show it.
Pandering
Your pandering is apparent in the news you choose to report. Mostly news about Trump’s stupid leadership or the valiant but hopeless efforts to rein him in. You’re telling your target audience, “Hey we know this guy’s an idiot but here are a few glimmers of hope.”
Otherwise you continue to represent inside the beltway views. I just came back from Taiwan. Why didn’t you cover the visit to NYC, Boston and Washington by the head of the KMT? I think you covered her meeting with Xi. In Washington she met with several legislators. Her message is that the island and China can coexist. You just would love to see trouble sparked between China and Taiwan.

The constant pop-ups to upgrade my subscription are getting annoying
Every single time I open the app I get a pop up asking me to upgrade to their family plan. This is getting seriously annoying when I’m already paying for a subscription.
How the mighty have fallen
Awash in bothsiderism, Trump sandwiching, and vapid clickbaity style and fashion articles, NYT is a shell of what it used to be
Please fix this thing…
Your new integration with the athletic news is garbage. Infuriating.
How to cancel?
It’s very expensive per month once your trial price is done. And cancelling is not easy. Can someone reading this cancel my subscription?
NYT's coverage is really slanted now.
The hard-right Israeli gov't success is their main concern right now. That and very conservative, big money, NYC interests.
Your prices are too high
I hate that you charge for recipes at the bottom of the page that I read online. You are Very expensive paper to keep reading. I’m moving towards retirement. When I am retired, I will no longer pay for The New York Times electronic newspaper.
front page won't stop reloading
can't read anything as the front page keeps reloading every few seconds
The content is the problem
The New York Times ceased practicing any semblance of objective journalism in the Trump era and became a publisher of opinion, now anti-Zionist.
MUST sign in just to look at the headlines? Goodbye NY Times
June 2026 - We MUST sign in just to look at the headlines? Goodbye NY Times
So Biased Against Trump
It is ridiculous that you never have anything positive to say about Trump and his administration. Your a sick paper

I will cancel subscription
Hate the new way to save or listen to an article
We’re you bored and needed to do something to the app? Why did you change how to save or listen or read comments. It is so irritating on my ipad, I have to ‘catch’ the options as they float away. It worked before, please put it back. Thank you, a regular NYT reader
Frustrating App
I appreciate very much the news coming from the Times, but in my experience, unless your signal is super strong, the app does not refresh, nor indicate that the news you’re viewing is old. On the road I can go for days without seeing new information. Same headline as yesterday and the day before. It needs to either tell us this is old news or load a “lite” version of the news until there is a fast enough signal. Very, very frustrating and it’s been a problem for years.
Bad behavior
A few months ago the app sucked down 3.5Gb of cell data-my entire daily allowance-in 15 minutes, during which time I was only reading articles, not watching video or listening to audio. Until this is fixed, I’ll access it via the website.
NY Times App
Frustrated with the App. I like being able to listen to the times articles while I am busy doing things that do not permit me to look at my phone and read the articles myself. Unfortunately, I can choose to listen to one article and then I will hear one podcast after another. While they might be interesting podcasts, my goal when I subscribed to the Times was to follow the news. If I have to continuously be looking at my screen, I would read the article not listen to it. Sorry NY Times but I think this App is a failure

Red hot (derogatory)
This app consistently makes my phone run so hot and drains the battery much more quickly than any other app I have. Kinda weird to have an ad every page when I’m a subscriber. Whatever.
App navigation
The journalism is 5 stars. The app is 2 stars.
I regularly tap on push notifications only to have the article fail to load. Then when I try to find the story myself, it has seemingly disappeared. This defeats the entire purpose of sending notifications in the first place.
The app is also difficult to navigate. Important stories get buried, search is not always helpful, and finding content you were just notified about can be surprisingly difficult.
The New York Times should be setting the standard for digital news experiences. Instead, the app often feels clunky and unreliable.
Great content. Frustrating app.

Are you charging me more?
There two features that I used to enjoy with my TNYT subscription: the games and the out loud read articles. All of a sudden those features disappeared. Apparently TNYT wants to charge me separately for those them. It never wrote me an email explaining the the policy changes.
The Resistance
If you’re looking for a pusher of TDS, you’ve found it. Echo chamber for the socialists. But, hey, the Games, Sports and Arts sections are good.
Every article is an editorial
I have read and respected your journalism for decades, but find in the current environment virtually every article has a very strident editorial pitch to it. There is no pure news. Just give readers the facts; politically unadulterated facts. Please,
Sketchy-Advertising
The NYT articles are pretty good with lots of variety. Beware of any advertising on the site, they don’t vet advertisers and have fraudulent companies selling junk. Mirbloom and Modsees are just two examples. Never click on an advertisement!!!
Gone too far
Just so disappointed with the NYT. Every Single Bit of coverage is so biased, so left, so sad.
It’s one thing to report news, it’s another to completely take a single side on every single issue

Terrible app
The Washington Post app for subscribers works great and includes a printed paper interface in addition to the standard one. The NYT app rarely loads pictures and you must pay extra features standard in the Post app.
Using a VPN makes this almost unusable.
If you use a VPN the articles won’t load properly even if you’re logged into your account.
Stop launching other apps!
Opening content in other apps could be an option, (with user permission), but absolutely should not be default behavior.
