banned for life after “missing” 3 reservations over a two year period
I used to use OpenTable all the time sometimes when the restaurant isn’t busy, the hostess wouldn’t mark down that the reservation was completed and I never thought that would be an issue. Turns out if you miss three reservations in any period of time they literally banned you for life based on your phone number. unreal. Also, there’s no customer service or anyone to speak to you about this issue. Very unfortunate that most restaurants rely on this terrible app to book.
They harass you if the restaurant doesn’t check you in properly
I took my parents out for a Father’s Day brunch and made my reservation via OpenTable. However, the restaurant didn’t check me in properly and now OpenTable is harassing me to prove that I was there. I didn’t keep the receipt, and they require a bank statement showing the time of the charge, which my credit card does not provide. Seriously, since when does it fall on the diner to justify that they ate a meal?
Beware of the rewards program
I’ve realized i have not been receiving points for making reservations through the app while logged in…apparently it has been happening for some time. No one has gotten back to me from customer service.
SCAM
We made a reservation for our 4 year anniversary, drove an hour to the city, and we had to pre pay for the dinner $300. When we showed up the building was completely shut down, the phone number put on open table did not answer our calls when we arrived, open table said it was not their problem and refused to refund us, absolutely disgusting.
