I really want to give an open source map application my business, but it’s worthless when searching marks incorrect addresses and navigation directions lead me down private roads with locked gates, and that the search results are not only hard to read, but give global results, not ones scoped my local location.

Poor database programming
Whoever wrote the sql on locations has no idea what they’re doing. You can’t allow code to group physical locations that are geographically separated by 50 miles or more into one label. Hire programmers whose native language is English. Also audit your code!
Trash. Used to be good
This thing is the worst most infuriating unintuitive app I’ve ever used. Something as simple as typing in an address and just go is impossible. Type in full address as the app has no clue what I’m talking about. Says it’s 3899 miles away when it’s like 50 miles away. And in the wrong city. App used to be simple. Now you need a 5 million page book to tell you how to use it. Glad I just paid for it and now finding this out.
Cursor navigation problem.
I am using iPhone 16 Pro with IOS 18.4.1. I just upgraded to OSMand 5.0.
The tracking behavior works correctly when in the most magnified map view. The navigation cursor stays in the GPS coordinates and the map moves accordingly.
Any other magnification level the map stays fixed and the cursor moves through the map in the correct GPS position until it exits the fixed map.
This makes the app essentially useless.
This same problem occurs also with IOS 18.3.2 on an iPhone 12.
I contacted OSM support and they suggest I communicate this way for the developers.

Doesn’t work most of the time
I want to like this app. I really do but when I put an address in everything has to be spelled out. Dr has to be drive. E has to be east. And yes, I’ve updated the app and the internal maps. Most the time I have to use another app because it can’t find a address. Or it uses the street name and returns a result in a city that’s in another state. I entered Brooks street today and it returned a result 1200 miles away in a city called brooks. I hate having to go back to the other big map app. And if the free version is this buggy I can’t see spending money to see it full capabilities. Shame. It has promise but way too many issues.

When putting in the current city, and country for directions it continued to say I was in another country hundreds of kms away

I’m not the review type. Paid for a subscription right off the bat. I’m a handyman and on accuracy. On the dozen occasions to guide me to a specific house, I was at least four houses away from it. Google maps was right on.

Not User Friendly
No satellite image & would not bring up any businesses to even see TO enter to navigate. All 3 addresses I randomly chose said “Access Denied” all in cartoon so would not allow me to zoom in to see the actual street OR location and only showed landscape names not street names with no option to customize. Useless unfortunately and I was excited as a review said it was offline and didn’t use data but it does and it saves your searches so found that in settings so I could delete it. I need a map for both options to use online and offline that doesn’t take up storage by saving anything unless I ask it to or download for offline viewing later. Once these “bugs” are worked out and able to use satellite and zoom in to see actual places with labels including all streets and businesses I’ll give it a try again.

Device memory crusher
I wanted to find an alternative to Google maps. Loaded this app. App required I download maps. I initially only downloaded my state; but I travel all of North America regularly, so I downloaded North America. I noticed while learning the app that my device memory was dramatically decreasing as it worked in the background. Immediately deleted the app. My device memory is still significantly reduced & I can’t find where it stored the files to delete them & free up my storage again.
Outdated maps
Maps are not up-to-date and at least 3 years behind. I was not able to find my own street/location. I have tried to contact the company for support but without any result.

Not for the USA?
I really loved the idea of having downloaded maps on my phone for motorcycle travel but I have yet to find a single address within the US that this program will find. I type in the exact, specific, legal address and it doesn't even come close. Most of the time it's not even in the same state.
So, when i just click on a destination and try to get routred there, the app simply shuts down, 100% of the time. It has never worked for me. iPhone 15 Pro. Although it's only $10, I hope they issue me a refund as the aap serves no purpose for me now.

How do you change units????
It’s stuck on imperial units. Can’t find anywhere in the menus to change to SI. Pretty confusing when the road signs don’t match.

I bought monthly subscription because this feature and i can’t download it…
Last Update is horrible
You still haven’t made updates to Car Play functionality that people have been begging for and now the app keeps crashing. Since the update, when running on my phone and in Car Play the map keeps “recalculating” every 1-2 seconds and then eventually crashes after 30-60 seconds. I’ve even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire app.

Useless for state parks and National wildife areas
Tried to use this app to plan camping trips to South Carolina, Georgia, amd Alabama. Even major state parks are not in the database, and forget about National wildlife management areas. You also can’t just use a general location, like Santee, South Carolina - you have to know a specific address to do a lookup. I paid for an annual subscription - a complete waste of money. Since Apple Maps now allows downloading of offline maps, this app has become superfluous anyway.
Not good for NYC
Does not provide correct directions. When typing an address, the app does not recognize it from the few starting characters like in other navigation apps, you have to type complete address.

Does not work
The app keeps crashing and can’t even find simple addresses in the US. Navigation feature does not work and does not show the route. Route creation feature is useless because to set points you have to click on the map, you can’t enter businesses or addresses. I like all the routing customizations but it does not work. I have latest version app and iOS as of 1/11/24.
Fake app
Worst app I’ve ever used. I enter a destination, a city name, or address all with PERFECT spelling and it only recognizes cities like Los Angeles or New York. I’m not from either of those places so I’m deleting this fake app.

Just can’t be trusted
Really wanted to like this app because I hate Google tracking everything about us,,, but it just isn’t robust enough. Have used it a few months on a few trips. This last trip the app seemed to know the destination was approximately 260 miles away but when calculating a route the time and distance estimates were wildly inaccurate like by hundreds of miles and several hours. The route on the map seemed correct but while traveling beyond cell service in somewhat remote areas of MT, WY, and SD I wasn’t happy with “guessing”. Don’t trust this app. And yes I spent hours tweaking it and attempting to understand how it works. The app is not mission critical and can’t be trusted. Best of luck for those that want to tinker with it. Just doesn’t make the cut for real world application.

After downloading my state, it doesn’t even have my address, or my work address. Neither are in remote locations. Extremely hard to set a favorite. Overall very clunky and glitchy. Almost every feature I tried did not work.

I have supported this app for several years. Recently they are pushing a new subscription model, which I don’t understand… but I’m not willing to pay any more and not willing to lose features when I currently can’t even download offline maps anymore which has left me in a jam… this is a critical feature of this app, and tapping the “maps and resources” button just causes the app to completely freeze…
This app has always been a bit broken, but I’ve been willing to support it because I care about open street map, and want to see it succeed… however it is rapidly burning through any good will I had towards it and I will probably cancel my annual subscription to this app at this point. Others should probably follow suit.

Moved CarPlay behind paywall
They are now charging for functionality that previously worked without a subscription, like CarPlay. I previously bought map packs, etc. I wont be using this app any longer. Introducing new functionality is fine. Taking away features is not.
New update crashes continuously
This was a great app but the new update has ruined it. Crashes regularly on Carplay. Is a danger and can no longer be used in the car. How can you release such a buggy version? Some of the many bugs: distance to next waypoint freezes, route line disappears, app quitting at random, route partially showing a straight line to target instead of street routing, etc. Was there no testing?
UPDATE: And, -without warning- it now requires a subscription to use it with Carplay! Buggy AND subscription? Looked around, found Sygic after testing many. Much better! Thank you OSMand for making me look for an alternative

iOS has substantially less features than Android
iOS is missing many features that the Android version has. Chief among them is being able to input GPS coordinates to provide accurate offline fixes of your position. Pretty disappointed to be honest. They really need to spend the time to update their iOS product so that it has the same functionality as the Android counterpart.
Reinstalls after delete
I delete the app from the iPhone and within 24 OsmAnd maps reinstalls by itself. How do I stop this?

I have lived for 47 years on a road that goes between two cities. This app cannot find my address and if I click on my location it miss identifies the road. OSM website has the road labeled correctly.
