The title explains the review. I get done with the “Get Started” section and am met with a paywall that I can’t even move past. There is no free version of this app. I even tried to re-open the app and it just took me right back to the beginning, implying that I needed to do my account creation process over to be met with the same result. Makes no sense.

It’s just an app with a bunch of videos you can find on YouTube with dual captions.

Cancelled and still charged
I downloaded this to see how it worked since I’ve been doing Speak and Duolingo. I made sure to go into the App Store to cancel just so I wouldn’t be charged the $20 right when I downloaded it. I was still charged the $20 and when I tried to report it in the store for a refund it was already saying it was cancelled. Just a heads up for people who download this app.

Claimed to give me a 7-day free trial then charged me the next day. After trying it the first day I wasn’t a fan so I made a note to cancel the “subscription” the next day so I wouldn’t be charged after the trial ended and saw that they already did.

I don’t find any reason an app should be payment only when you can make it free with a few ads, learning a language especially in a world where ai is taking over it needs to be free and accessible cuz duolingo is doing it but they’re pro ai. I went into this thinking I finally found a free app like duolingo to teach me just to not be able to use the app without forcibly getting a trial that will charge me at the end of the week. truly disappointing i’ll have to delete the app before trying it.

this is the problem with apps nowadays, they advertise themselves as better or finally the solution, but FIRST you have to pay! how am i supposed to know if i want to spend my money if i can’t even OPEN the app without coughing up at least 20$. it’s ridiculous. duolingo may suck but at least some of its feature are free. i suggest if you’re trying to learn a language just drop all these dumb apps and go to good old youtube - native speakers that ACTUALLY teach you something rather than wanting 20$ a month to learn how to say “gracias”.

Too buggy to be useable
I’m being asked continually to sign up, while still in the trial period, to the point where I can’t do any lessons. I’ve already entered my credit card information for the trial, and yet the site keeps asking for it. It has rendered the platform unusable. A real disappointment. I would not recommend.
App doesn’t work at all
I was excited to try Parrot again after doing a free trial a few months ago. I love the idea of learning Spanish through entertaining videos. I paid for a week. When I tried to access the Feed, I was stuck on a loading screen for minutes. I couldn’t start any lesson without encountering another paywall, which prompted me to pay for ANOTHER week. I’m sad to say this app is a scam :(

I downloaded this because I have tried Duolingo in the past but wanted to try this one out since I saw that this might be better but you have to pay for everything so I think I’ll just stick to Duolingo

Forgot got to cancel my free trial. Never even created an account or used the app. Requested a refund the same day I was charged. Apparently I’m not eligible. It’s poor business practices like these that give companies a bad name.

I’m connected to cellular data and wifi and everytime I try to pay for it and use the app it gives me a connection error. I’m sure its great but I can’t even use it!!
