The combination of all this basically means an extremely punishing game where you finish and see your reward... in the cash shop.

Too unbalanced, too punishing, too grindy
I play a LOT of rogue like card games, and this one is simply too punishing to be fun. There are FAR too many instances where your run simply comes to a point where it doesn’t matter what decisions you have made, the enemy/boss rips off a “sorry, bro - game over”.
On top of that, all the other characters, and cards are locked behind a massive amount of grinding (or paywall, if you choose to go that route).
Do yourself a favor, and stick to something more fair/enjoyable like Slay the Spire.

This game is a BAIT
This game had the potential to be as good as Slay The Spire, which this game has copied most elements of.
I personally don't think that any paid game should have so much inaccessible content. Unless you're ready to spend 5+ hours playing a fairly repetitive game trying to unlock a single character, you will have to pay more money to play the game to its full extent.
For a collectible rogue-like game, this game has very little "synergy", which is a staple of the genre. The game is built around 4+ characters that were part of the game when it was released, but all other characters add very little to the game.
Though this game looks really fun, it doesn't live up to other cheaper games in the genre. Ironically, I'd argue that Slay The Spire is cheaper simply because its content is not hidden behind a pay wall, even though up front it is 10$.

Has micro transactions
Game isn’t free so it shouldn’t have the option to buy coins and characters, it’s ridiculous and scummy. Sad, because it’s a fun game, so it get 2 stars from me. Wish developers had more dignity and respect for their work.
Extra Grindy Deckbuilder
Another deckbuilder that overstays its welcome. Look to Night of the Full Moon of Slay the Spire for deck building goodness. IAPs aren’t required, but the rate of content acquisition is incredibly slow.
Soooooooo much in app purchases
I’ve played this game for about 12 hours now and I have just barely enough currency to unlock one of the cheaper heroes. There are 15 other heroes. I’ve only played the first area because again, it takes a ton of currency to unlock. Beyond that, it’s fun and takes a lot of ideas from similar card games that I enjoy. Unfortunately, it’s become redundant unless I spend a lot more money on it.
Fun Game But Too Hard
It is a really fun game but if the developers want people to stop playing they have a winning formula. I spent real money and everything. No fun to get defeated so easily. Moving on.
Heavy Grind
Would have rather paid a base price of 2.99 to 4.99$ and have characters and game modes able to be unlocked without a horrific grind. You will be stuck replaying the same rounds with the same pirates with the same hero in pirates bay, expect to pay another 5-8 dollars at least to get out of that cycle. I am almost entirely bored with the game and I haven’t beaten the second boss. The gameplay is fluid and could have been addicting if the game didn’t try it’s best to keep me at square one.
Rough Seas of balance and RNG
TLDR: Takes cues from other games but lacks the balance or fallbacks common to the genre, leading to RNG favored runs with a huge grind wall.
Good game but the balance seems to need way more time rather than the fixing of bugs.
They expect far too much damage, healing and defense from all the characters. With how random the deck building side of the game is, it’s close to impossible to do so. I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but this game needs the fabled “Perfect Run” than other games in the genre.
Filling your deck with trash doesn’t help either, as there’s no way to turn down a reward from a fight. And the fact you have two health bars to worry about makes it more annoying than strategic.
The game is also very helpful in not telling you stuff. Like a boss that takes NO damage while minions are out. Oh you moved the boss? What are you stupid? Please lose now.
Then there is the grind. Given the fact you need luck to win a complete run of 3 bosses for a respectable payout of gold and Renown, you’ll be grinding it a lot. And I actually wouldn’t mind that too much. If the grind wasn’t such a high bar to get to even with a perfect run. The totals needed are just insane almost to the point it feels rigged against you. I hate micro transactions but this game feels like it’s rigged to make you cough up for them. And even then you can’t buy Renown so you still need to grind.
And I could still abide all of that, if the progression wasn’t so bad. If there was a more stable, non RNG biff to work towards. Not the random Relics and Cards.
And there is. For a one time bonus though, as in it doesn’t stack. I’m sorry devs, 10% more Hp doesn’t cut it or 20 more ship hp. Maybe if you could grind out more stacks of them but no. I hope you enjoy your 5 extra Hp.

When I got this game I thought it was a good pirate game with treasure and ship fighting,skeleton fighting and when I got it this was a disappointment there are not skeletons fighting there is no ship fighting it’s is just go to islands get cosmetics place down a card and fight and most of all it is not worth the one buck.
