Crashes every time I use it.
As many others already noted, I lost years worth of data last year. Because I want to keep an eye on my checking and savings accounts, I decided to keep using Pocket Expense and just did a balancing adjustment to start fresh. I haven’t lost all my data yet (fingers crossed), but the app crashes after every entry I make. I make an entry, wait for it to clear, scroll up, and it crashes. I then open the app again to make a new entry and wait for it to crash again. Thankfully it accepts the entries, but I have to wait for the crash after every single entry. It is becoming unusable, and I may finally move on even though I purchased the lifetime subscription.

DO NOT UPDATE
I’m angry as hell. I’ve been using this app for 12 years, and had 8 years worth of data on this (there was an issue in 2017). I was forced to delete and reinstall the app after the last update kept stopping at 98%. I was able to sign in and most of my data was somehow restored, but everything after April 2024 is missing, and the bills I entered in the calendar are gone. It’s a complete mess and I’m never going to be able to fix it, especially my cash transactions. I also had a Premium Lifetime subscription and now it’s showing ads.
EDIT TO ADD: now the interface is slow and constantly freezes for several seconds. It takes multiple taps to get it to respond. It’s absolutely infuriating.
Shortly after the update that deleted everyone’s data, they made yet another update. The devs don’t even have the decency to take any accountability and admit they screwed up. Complete silence on their end.

Have had this app for over three years and paid for the lifetime subscription. When attempting to log a transaction after the latest update the app proceeded to wipe 98% of my recorded transactions over the past three years. When I attempted to restore my data from their portal; I was informed my account did not exist even though the App Store shows the purchase.

I logged out and back in, which in the past would sync everything back up. Now it just gets stuck at 96%. There is a “fix sync” under the account tab, but it just thinks/loads in perpetuity.
When this is fixed, I’ll come update my review to 5stars but this is unacceptable from something I paid a lifetime subscription to expecting it to work.

Terrible Customer Service.
As the saying goes, if it’s not on your hard drive it’s not yours. This App Stores backups in the cloud so you are reliant on the developer to maintain and keep years of data safe. Unfortunately the recent update has caused a lot of users pain and hardship. I didn’t lose my data like others but after four years I’ve moved on to a different app that gives me control of where my backup is stored. I moved to Money Manager app, it’s similar but with more features and allows various methods of self backup. It also allows using the app on android and iOS with the same data plus a web app.

Went ahead with 6.6.3 and still was unable to retrieve my previous data. Its quite disappointing to lose all of it in a blink of an eye, even sent an email for assistance but I haven’t been contacted yet. Polycents crew we need to sort this out.

Avoid At All Costs
In November 2025 they pushed an update and I lost 4 1/2 years of data, back to March 2021.
The latest update in December 2025 restored me back to 2023.
I have lost two years of data because of their sloppy update process and data recovery.
I am a paid, premium user and to find out that years of data was never actually backed up to servers violates the reason I paid for premium.
Avoid this app if you want any kind of consistent budgetary usage.

Data Gone
My data seems to be gone with a message to download the most recent version of the app. After no updates for 4 years, and suddenly the updates force users out while not allowing them access to their financial records. I’ve had this app for 5 years and had my bills planned a month out. Now I’m gonna be lost and won’t have all that financial data. Recently they added a new update and my data came back for a moment then everything changed and now the years worth of data I had is ruined. There’s just no way to fix it except start over. If I’m doing that it’s going to be with a different app.

Recent Update Breaks the App
I’ve been using this app for YEARS. It’s been pretty good and over the years has become one of the best expense trackers out there. That being said, the recent update has locked so many users out of their accounts or wiped ALL DATA. This is absolutely an issue and the silence from the people behind the app (email, review response, etc) isn’t great. There should be at a minimum communication around fixing the issue. Pretty disappointed they haven’t announced any acknowledgment of the issue.

Great app bad support and updates
Love this app. Have been using for several years. After this last update it has been terrible. I woke up to the app saying updating and syncing which I never seen before. I then waited for about an hour and turned my phone to stay on so it wouldn’t time out. After that still no change. I then decided to whip out my old tablet and downloaded the app and logged in to my account on that device. And to my surprise it showed transactions from 2021. But no other transaction on my checking account. Then I close the app I try to load the app on my iPhone again and still stuck at 98%. I then deleted the app and redownloaded it. Logged into my account and was shocked to see the most recent transaction on my account was from January 2025 but was only my monthly bank check fee. Then I logged out on tablet and back in and same thing I now had some transactions from 2023 as well as one transaction for every month until January 2025 all my $1 monthly bank fee charges. This is totally unacceptable and it’s terrible. I track and plan money a month out to ensure if anything happens I had a buffer that my wife or anyone could see and manage if needed. It also helped me plan upcoming trips and helped to manage my money. I need a backup from a few weeks ago that can get combined into the transactions I will be making now to fix this. I may end up just leaving this app entirely. I loved it so much that I paid to remove the ads as well. But now something like this makes me not even want to use it anymore.
