Data Disappeared
Have been using this app for years and suddenly all recent data was lost!
Crashes every time I use it.
As many others already noted, I lost years worth of data last year. Because I want to keep an eye on my checking and savings accounts, I decided to keep using Pocket Expense and just did a balancing adjustment to start fresh. I haven’t lost all my data yet (fingers crossed), but the app crashes after every entry I make. I make an entry, wait for it to clear, scroll up, and it crashes. I then open the app again to make a new entry and wait for it to crash again. Thankfully it accepts the entries, but I have to wait for the crash after every single entry. It is becoming unusable, and I may finally move on even though I purchased the lifetime subscription.

I’m sooooo frustrated that this app did not save my expense info TWICE when I had to move data’s on iPhones! What the hell??!!! It’s so frustrating. I need the info for my taxes later. Now I have to do things the hard way and find all my expenses again. Thanks a lot. I’m using a different app from now on. USELESS.

This app is scam. There is no support and if you lose data there is no chance to recover. AVOID!!!!

I’m angry as hell. I’ve been using this app for 12 years, and had 8 years worth of data on this (there was an issue in 2017). I was forced to delete and reinstall the app after the last update kept stopping at 98%. I was able to sign in and most of my data was somehow restored, but everything after April 2024 is missing, and the bills I entered in the calendar are gone. It’s a complete mess and I’m never going to be able to fix it, especially my cash transactions. I also had a Premium Lifetime subscription and now it’s showing ads.
EDIT TO ADD: now the interface is slow and constantly freezes for several seconds. It takes multiple taps to get it to respond. It’s absolutely infuriating.
Shortly after the update that deleted everyone’s data, they made yet another update. The devs don’t even have the decency to take any accountability and admit they screwed up. Complete silence on their end.

All information gone; be careful
Have had this app for over three years and paid for the lifetime subscription. When attempting to log a transaction after the latest update the app proceeded to wipe 98% of my recorded transactions over the past three years. When I attempted to restore my data from their portal; I was informed my account did not exist even though the App Store shows the purchase.

After the most recent update, I can’t even get the program to load. We really need to have access to my expenses, and I can’t even get the program to open.

I logged out and back in, which in the past would sync everything back up. Now it just gets stuck at 96%. There is a “fix sync” under the account tab, but it just thinks/loads in perpetuity.
When this is fixed, I’ll come update my review to 5stars but this is unacceptable from something I paid a lifetime subscription to expecting it to work.

New update ruined the app
The newest update ruined the app. It takes forever to load and things take so much longer to input.
Broken after update
I don’t know how the recent update was tested and approved through the App Store, but it is terrible. It renders the app useless by being stuck on an update screen once you open the app. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

As everyone else I am not being able to access my data. I have the last 8 years of my finances in that app! They are not helping anyone or providing assistance.
Terrible Customer Service.
As the saying goes, if it’s not on your hard drive it’s not yours. This App Stores backups in the cloud so you are reliant on the developer to maintain and keep years of data safe. Unfortunately the recent update has caused a lot of users pain and hardship. I didn’t lose my data like others but after four years I’ve moved on to a different app that gives me control of where my backup is stored. I moved to Money Manager app, it’s similar but with more features and allows various methods of self backup. It also allows using the app on android and iOS with the same data plus a web app.

Latest update broke app
I’ve used this app for years and loved it, but this last update completely broke it. It’s stuck at 98% updating no matter what I do. Guess it’s time to move on. How disappointing.

Went ahead with 6.6.3 and still was unable to retrieve my previous data. Its quite disappointing to lose all of it in a blink of an eye, even sent an email for assistance but I haven’t been contacted yet. Polycents crew we need to sort this out.

Avoid At All Costs
In November 2025 they pushed an update and I lost 4 1/2 years of data, back to March 2021.
The latest update in December 2025 restored me back to 2023.
I have lost two years of data because of their sloppy update process and data recovery.
I am a paid, premium user and to find out that years of data was never actually backed up to servers violates the reason I paid for premium.
Avoid this app if you want any kind of consistent budgetary usage.

Data Gone
My data seems to be gone with a message to download the most recent version of the app. After no updates for 4 years, and suddenly the updates force users out while not allowing them access to their financial records. I’ve had this app for 5 years and had my bills planned a month out. Now I’m gonna be lost and won’t have all that financial data. Recently they added a new update and my data came back for a moment then everything changed and now the years worth of data I had is ruined. There’s just no way to fix it except start over. If I’m doing that it’s going to be with a different app.
Lost Data and No One Will Help
In late November, I lost 10 years of data saved on this app. I’ve reached out 7 times to try to get a csv of my data to no avail. I would not recommend.

Opened App and it started updating and stopped a 98%. No other choice but to leave screen and try again and again. Finally was able to update and open app and it said I was negative -70,0000. Obviously missing data and it’s a mess. Tried emailing but no response. Have no other choice but to cancel subscription.

I updated the app and got stuck on the 98% screen of death. Deleted and reinstalled and all my data was wiped. I’ve been using this app for years. Purchased lifetime membership. I’ve been waiting for weeks for an update that would fix it and nothing. Really wish the developers would do right by the users.

This app was great. It would have been 5 stars. I even purchased the lifetime membership. But… there has been a recent update. It is TERRIBLE. All my data that was supposed to sync is gone. I have emailed and gotten no response.
Update Disaster
I’ve been using this app for over a decade. It’s normally awesome but the latest update destroyed it. It constantly freezes then crashes. Transactions are all wrong and my balances are all way off. I paid for the premium service which is supposed to backup my transactions but that apparently wasn’t happening. Customer service is nonexistent. Total disappointment.
Recent Update Breaks the App
I’ve been using this app for YEARS. It’s been pretty good and over the years has become one of the best expense trackers out there. That being said, the recent update has locked so many users out of their accounts or wiped ALL DATA. This is absolutely an issue and the silence from the people behind the app (email, review response, etc) isn’t great. There should be at a minimum communication around fixing the issue. Pretty disappointed they haven’t announced any acknowledgment of the issue.

I bought the life time subscription. I’ve been using for a while now. All my data is now gone and can’t retrieve it. Customer service don’t even reply or answer. Don’t waste your time or money on this app or any other app from the developer
Update Deleted 3 Years of Data
I’ve used the app for 8-10 years. The recent update delete all transactions back to November 2022. This is the second time an update has deleted data. Officially cancelled my paid subscription and moving to a different app.
Update deleted my history
This was by far my go to app for over 5 years. Unfortunately the latest update deleted 3 years worth of my data. I was told to log out and log back in and to give it time but I still don’t see my current data. All the history and data I used on a daily basis is just gone. I really trusted this app, but now I honestly would not recommend.

Bought lifetime subscription. been using this app for years. The new upgrade in Dec. 2025 made me loose years of data. Very frustrated give me a refund or fix the merge.

Anyway, i been using this for over 5 years and i have no complaints. It does what i need. I like how its not like the automatic ones that connect to your bank account...

I cannot get into the app to use it!!! I have been using it for years and today went to enter an expense and said I have an update don’t leave and it gets to 98% and won’t go any further. Can’t use the app or do anything!! Help!!!!!
Great app bad support and updates
Love this app. Have been using for several years. After this last update it has been terrible. I woke up to the app saying updating and syncing which I never seen before. I then waited for about an hour and turned my phone to stay on so it wouldn’t time out. After that still no change. I then decided to whip out my old tablet and downloaded the app and logged in to my account on that device. And to my surprise it showed transactions from 2021. But no other transaction on my checking account. Then I close the app I try to load the app on my iPhone again and still stuck at 98%. I then deleted the app and redownloaded it. Logged into my account and was shocked to see the most recent transaction on my account was from January 2025 but was only my monthly bank check fee. Then I logged out on tablet and back in and same thing I now had some transactions from 2023 as well as one transaction for every month until January 2025 all my $1 monthly bank fee charges. This is totally unacceptable and it’s terrible. I track and plan money a month out to ensure if anything happens I had a buffer that my wife or anyone could see and manage if needed. It also helped me plan upcoming trips and helped to manage my money. I need a backup from a few weeks ago that can get combined into the transactions I will be making now to fix this. I may end up just leaving this app entirely. I loved it so much that I paid to remove the ads as well. But now something like this makes me not even want to use it anymore.

This app sucks now. Paid for premium lifetime only to lose data and not being able to export the remaining data that is left. Terrible waste of time.

I loved the app, but there was some sort of update in the last week and I can’t access my old data. It’s very frustrating and I’m afraid the only way to resolve this is to delete and re-download. And I’ll probably have to pay for the app.
