★★★★★ "Let me play the game. Let me play the game. How to play the game of more than 2 minutes is so annoying. Try to play, no you have to do this first. Than you have to click that spot. The most successful games of all time have at best, a short tutorial. This game, …" - VukkVukkVukk

Forced
Hate games that don’t let you try to do it on your own, everything is forced down your throat from the actions you wish to do.
Bad
The matchmaking system doesn’t feel fair, since it frequently pairs you against more experienced or higher-level servers, making it difficult to compete on equal footing, also the customer service doesn’t reply
Unhelpful support
One of the events bugged out for my character and they basically told me oh well tough luck and won’t do anything to help.
Essentially brain rot
Seems like it was made by AI. Doesn’t feel originally and very boring stuff in my opinion
Greedy Game
Literally a billion micro transactions in this game. These mobile games are insane with their greed. There are better games out there.
Let me play the game
Let me play the game. How to play the game of more than 2 minutes is so annoying. Try to play, no you have to do this first. Than you have to click that spot. The most successful games of all time have at best, a short tutorial. This game, is just annoying with it. Can’t skip the dumb part, so skipping the whole game.
Items for sale
Not all items for purchase are usable at this time in the game. I have inventory full of items that cannot be used yet. I have deleted the game at this point due to this.
Game Ad
Why is the ad on YouTube the scene from Croods 2, where she shows off her scars, with slightly different animation?
Click this and that
This game is the most boring game i have ever played. Too much clicking on this and that to find this and that to build and upgrade stuff.
Read this review, I promise it’ll save you time!
TLDR: Good game but is a copy of another game. Likely a year behind in dev time and the gap may even grow. My recommendation is to play the original as I can tell there are some gaps in quality. There are a small list of reasons you might want to play this version (read below) but I don’t think it’s compelling enough imo.
Long Review:
Pop Epoch is an idle game with opportunity for active play. The gameplay loop is above average, the art is average (unless you love cartoons), and it sits on the border between f2p and p2w. The major factor holding it back is that it is a 99% carbon copy of Bonk Bonk Tribe (Pop Epoch is about 8 months to a year behind on dev time and I can attest that the Bonk Bonk dev team release updates insanely quickly so the gap will likely grow).
The game itself is a breath of fresh air away from standard idle games. The opportunity for engaging pvp is there and the ability for active and smart play to overcome spending is also there. Thematically, you follow Western mythologies and history as you lead a civilization from the ancient to modern era by harvesting resources and hiring your army and heroes.
As alluded to earlier, the game is an exact copy of Bonk Bonk Tribe, aside from some renaming and thematic changes. This is either a rip off that will be sued and removed OR Bonk has licensed its gameplay loop to Pop’s developers (both developers are Chinese). So my question is… why play a game that may be in legal trouble OR that may be licensed legally but will always be behind the original?
Well, I can answer that for you! The only reasons to play this game are: You love certain Western characters (Pop has characters like Adam, Achilles, Chaucer, and like 2 asian characters like Himiko and Confucius) and/or strongly dislike Chinese characters (Bonk is mostly Chinese characters like Qin Shi Huang, but has maybe 15 western characters like Einstein, Lincoln, Queen Victoria). Another reason is if you are P2W (10K+ USD spend) and want to dominate ALL servers in Pop Epoch (Bonk already has several players that have spent way too much). Last reason is if you love the cartoon art style (Bonk has more realistic art background + chibi characters, Pop has a more classic cartoon style throughout).
FYI, I am a US based player so clearly not a dev of either game. You can check the App Store to see which game came out first (The first review of Bonk came out Sep 2025 and the first review of Pop came out March 2026, even though the game update section suggests otherwise). Read the App Store patch notes to understand why I say the dev gap may only widen). Anyways, I really love these type of games so I hope this review is helpful to you!

Fun but…
After moving onto a new age and Territories is supposed to be available, I keep getting the question on loop and told I can’t access it because I haven’t completed the correct number of tasks. I can’t complete tasks if it keeps cycling and freezing any time I click the screen. What an annoying bug.
