Extremely hard to use
Very hard and confusing for an older adult in my opinion, very disappointed.
SCAM! McDonalds? Don't use this app
When I had the app plan my road trip, it gave me McDonald's as one of the options to stop at (not for food but for an interesting place to see). McDonald's? Seriously. This app is a total rip off. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP! Complete SCAM!

I am very angry. This app got deleted less than a minute after I downloaded it because it didn’t pass basic 3rd party security review. This cannot be trusted, as far as I can tell.
1 Star for the Idea
Great idea. But obviously whoever designed this App never actually went out and used it. Or did trials with the general public. A lot of potential. But mostly frustrating, useless and a waste of time.
Scam
This app used to be free and was fantastic. I just re-downloaded and now they're charging $60 and I'm sure you still have to see the ads.
Nope
I was about to buy premium but figured I’d give it the old search for dog friendly restaurants in my area. Or anywhere. Did you know that if you click “Restaurants” it’s says “Search in Restaurants” but when you click it, it doesn’t? It’s because the intern who coded this was having an off day. Such a basic feature and it’s simply not working. I’m so sick of these AI vibe coded slop apps. It’s clear that the people who made this don’t use it; they certainly don’t test it.

Can’t use app
I paid for a subscription for years and it is still active. I use it 1-3 times a year for several years. I have used the app for 1 trip in the past year. The app will not let me plan a trip because it says I have reached my limit of trips. I am canceling my subscription because this is a ripoff. It used to be a good app.
Not Helpful - Avoid
Very poor functionality and cumbersome to use as a planning tool. A simple google search combined with Google Maps will yield the same results at no cost. And finding the unsubscribe button is like finding a needle in a haystack. Avoid this useless app.
Did something change??
Have been using this app for years! Paid subscription for years. Logged in tonight and am trying to add waypoints and then move them around in different order and the functionality seems to be gone now. What’s up?? This sucks. I am trying to route my own stops in order I want and it is not working. Please respond and fix and I’ll update this 1 star bc up till this issue it has been 5 stars for me
Did they give up?
There were so many places that I wanted to go see in New Orleans (that I discovered on google. But it wasn’t on Roadtrippers, so I entered the address. I got more and more upset each time I wanted to add a point and it wasn’t on the app! Too frustrated and I’m just going to use google.
Login unstable
This is a horrid app. Originally, the login was through Roadpass. That has now changed. I spent hours documenting my current trip and it has now disappeared. This is worthless for finding stops along the way. I have used it to document my trips so I can visualize and share them. Many times I cannot even find the places we’ve visited and have to create a custom stop to even document it. Not an app for planning, only very poor app for documenting

I used this app for years and went to show a friend my cross country trip that I had and wanted to show how cool the app was. However it is now a cash grab and locked me out of many memories because they want more money. Kinda bs, great app just unfortunate.
Would not refund
I canceled my subscription and a year later they still charged me the annual fee. I spoke with Liz on their customer support team and since I was a few days past their “grace period” they refused to give me my $59.99 even tho it’s their fault since I canceled my membership. I will never subscribe or download this app again. Beware as they will fraudulently charge your account. Terrible customer service.

Cancelled quickly. I have an rv there is no rv mode. You still need Waze and a weather app. Sends you into storms and snow

While the app does have some handy features that other apps lack, but the non starter problem is the basic navigation doesn't just not work well to the point it can be dangerous. Driving a RV with height, weight and propane plus towing a car, the app has repeatably routed us off the interstate and onto side streets.
Aside from that there are some merely annoying features: No usable offline maps. Not able to put in a rest stop or fuel stop without making it a discreet trip, unable to use the app unless your device is connected to the internet. The map is peppered with highlighted attractions which distract for the map. The photos shown of stops look more like advertisements, besides being superfluous.

Premium is anything but…
I paid for this app, as it was recommended to help plan trips to determine time and fuel costs. I am making a trip I have done on multiple occasions, but doing it in a different manner. I will now be pulling a small trailer, there is no way to add this into a configuration. Even when I start over changing my vehicles MPG in effort to determine travel time and fuel costs; only the fuel costs amount changes, not the time. I decided to manually add a waypoints; I know I want to stop at actual rest stops, there are not any listed in the app - even when choosing “fuel and rest stops,” and filtering for “rest stops only.” Not sure what premium would be considered when there lacks basic features.

I used to consider this one of my favorite apps, but it has declined dramatically over the years. The developers no longer seem to prioritize user experience, and the shift toward aggressive monetization has made the app frustrating to use.
Most concerning is the way the app effectively holds your own data hostage. Trips I created years ago are now locked and inaccessible unless I upgrade my subscription. The app even forces you to delete your old trips just to create new ones unless, of course, you pay. This is an unacceptable approach to user data and a clear sign that revenue has taken priority over trust.
I don’t mind paying for good software, but this app paywalls nearly everything. Even on a paid tier, you’re pushed to pay more. Ever since the move to a subscription model, the overall experience has continued to worsen.
I will not be renewing my subscription, and I’ve already switched to a different service. I strongly recommend other users do the same until the developers change direction.

NO ACCESS TO MY 1 TRIP PLAN WITH BASIC MEMEBERSHIP
I only wanted to plan 1 trip so I figured the basic membership was worth the assistance in finding cool places to stop along the way. When I logged in a week later to really start fine tuning my plan I had NO ACCESS to the trip plan I started. WHAT THE HECK DID I PAY $35.99 for???? No meaningful response from customer service. Really disappointing!

FAR too expensive for it to not let me access one route plan. straight up theft. I spent HOURS making a route across the country for it to lock me out of it the day the trial ended. I can make a new one no problem but I have to upgrade to premium to use the pan I already made. Waste of time and money
Lost My Trips - Must Pay Now
Good app when free. But next to useless unless you want to pay for premium. They also locked my saved custom trips, holding them hostage unless I upgrade to pay for premium. No thanks!
Worst app to trust. Keep an eye on your route!
I’m sorry but this app has rerouted me not once or twice but NINE TIMES in the middle of the route and many times it has taken me down poor roads, construction sites, and the like. Even when I pick the route I wish to go, right in the middle of the drive, she re-routes and doesn’t say anything. As an RV-er with a large rig, I can’t trust this app any more.

Absolute trash for the money. Incredibly difficult to even lay out your trip. Took two or three times more effort than Google maps did. For how bad it is they should be paying us.
Not for me
Google Maps works best for one day trip. I canceled as soon as I realized auto pilot planner didn’t work if driving for more than 10 hours in one day. I got charged even though I canceled subscription with coupon code for $35. I guess I’ll keep it after all. Thanks
Can no longer get into the app on my iPad !
I have a 2021 iPad which doesn’t support the latest version of Roadtrippers and there is no way to use older versions which means I can no longer do my trip plans on my iPad 😡

No details, limited options. App difficult to use. Want money back!
Difficult to appreciate
Avoid. Once your subscription expires you can not see any of the research or trips that you already added to the app. You cannot plan a route to any location you want such as a GPS trailhead location you need to park. All destinations are required to be in their database already. The best thing about the app is that multiple locations can be planned, but what is the point if you can’t add them all? After years of subscriptions I have given up on this app.
Subscription Fail
Signed up 6 months ago, paid for the subscription not everything is locked and to plan a new trip I have to upgrade. Since the app was clunky anyways I will find a new one. 😖
Fun while it lasted.
I loved using this app for a decade or so, but hadn’t used it since my last big road trip in 2022. I come back to find everything is hidden behind a ridiculously priced subscription, and after reading other reviews, it doesn’t seem very worth it. All previously saved trips were locked, except one. I deleted them all to start a new one and- yep, you guessed it! That was also locked behind another paywall after adding just ONE stop on my trip. Couldn’t add any more stops without paying.
What a shame, because the concept of this app was and still honestly is cool! Now it’s just another annoying subscription fee driven service. Like we need any more of those.
I get you have to make money to keep the app running somehow, but times are tough, and I’d rather map this out myself to save the $35 or whatever for this upcoming trip instead.
Edit: This response from the developer is trash quite honestly. I’m well aware- like I stated- what a subscription would pay for- except it doesn’t WORK, nor is it worth the price! Also finding out certain aspects are AI based bothers me; sorry, but did we forget how harmful AI is to the environment and society? A physical map is a better option at this point than a garbage app like this.

Poor route selection
Your route selection is difficult to use. We put in a route with waypoints but if we chose our final destination Roadtripper selects a route that does not include our way points and no matter how many times we reselect always goes back to the route designed by Rapdbtripper. We have to break our travel into segments to get the route we want. Very frustrating.
