Wonky
It’s fair share of bugs and customer support is nowhere to be found when you need it
Latest update is terrible
They changed the UI with no warning, made the app worse, and didn’t put any information how to use the new UI online. Rollout was terrible. They pretty much told me if I didn’t like it, too bad. When my subscription is up, I’ll be looking elsewhere.
Was a great app but now it’s not
I love pretty much everything about the app - the diet itself works great and the app’s features really help with compliance and adherence. There are a few things they could improve (like letting you enter your weight in decimals instead of whole numbers during weigh ins) but they constantly improving the app and the support is first rate.
Update: the new update stinks. I don’t know who they have doing their ux design but it’s terrible. The food list update is terrible, the meal check in requires you to open the meal and go to a pulldown (why??), and it doesn’t appear to remind you when your next meal is. They took a good product and made it kind of suck which is a shame

Horrible UI hard to use
I got this as I am starting my cut. Used to use MyFitnessPal but figured I’d try something new. Bought this and immediately regretted it. The UI is terrible and there aren’t any added features compared to other CHEAPER apps. Worst part they don’t even give you a free mode or trial to give it a try before buying. Gotta pay up front and if you like it great but if you don’t they just take your money. Do not recommend! If you just want to track calories MyFitnessPal is 100% better
The update sucks
Before the updated version, I had successfully cuffed twice and the app was very straightforward and easy to follow. After the update, copying meals don’t adjust the portions onto the meal I am copying to adjust the macros. I didn’t realize this until I went back and saw I had gone over my macros. Adding custom foods when logging meals throws errors.
The diet worked but the app sucks
I’ve used RP before. I came back to it after a 2 year break. The new app seems too complex and confusing. The old app was great.
About to delete
Doesnt let you change units of measurement. No tutorials on how to use. Tiny writing. Complicated and difficult to use with no guidance.
Just payed for the app and it won’t let me in
How is it that I sign up for the first time, but it tells me I already have an account? Then I try to get in to the app and it says my subscription has expired. What kind of shenanigans for stealing peoples money is this? If I can’t get in, then just give me my money back. This is harder to navigate than the frigging V.A.
One Step Forward, Five Steps Backward
Hello Everyone, first off, I am writing this review because I truly loved this app and hate to see the direction it has gone in. The new update that was implemented a few months ago has truly made this app much worse. Many of the favorite features that I and many other users of the app loved are gone. Meal Adherence is gone, The three sections of Protein, Carb, & Fat are gone. The app has a new look that is no longer unique and looks like every other bland app out there. Progress Tab looks like a mess now and is something I don't even bother looking at any more. Explore Tab is just ads for RP. The Edit/Macros tab is a slow and buggy. I was a beta tester for this new version of the app and did not ask that any of these features be removed. In fact, I don’t think anyone did. We constantly see in these reviews that they made these changes for “flexibility”, but I really think that instead of solving the problems many people had with the original app, they have actually made it worse and more cluttered than before. My next point is more to do with how the developers have handled criticism rather than a critique on the app. If you sort each of the recent reviews, they are overwhelmingly negative and rightfully so. However, if you take a look at each response to these reviews from the developer, they are all worded exactly the same and provide nothing promising that they’ll improve the app or correct their mistakes. I guarantee you’ll even see an AI response to this review. It’s a shame. As I write this, I am a month or so away from my subscription ending and I don’t plan on renewing. I have already cancelled it and will move on to a different app. I suggest everyone else do the exact same thing. Vote with your wallets and maybe they’ll change. This truly hurts to see as I’m a long time user, beta tester, and I’m someone who respects RP as they’ve changed my health. I hope that one day, they change this app and make it the app we once loved. If they ever do, I will be back. My warning for everyone now though is to stay away and choose a different app. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS!!
Used to be good
Now it’s like MyFitnessPal but even buggier. No thanks.
You have made the app unusable
I’m coming back after a year away and this app is totally resigned, in a terrible way. It used to be easy to use and now it is beyond confusing.
App does not work
Downloaded the new app, signed in and purchase a subscription. Now that i log back in the screen stays white. Tried to contact support and only a robot tells me to download another app. Nothing in their website to be able to speak with someone or even send an email. Don’t buy unless you want to loose your money
Not Ideal for Recomp
If you have a decent amount to lose, don’t waste your time. They set an arbitrary maximum and provide no consideration if your’re slightly out of bounds. (5lbs) They expect you to program hop instead. Don’t waste your time.
Not user friendly
I have attempted several times to work around the app and figure it out to no avail. I purchased during Black Friday and really would like a refund. I haven’t even been able to use it correctly like I thought I would be able. Can someone get in contact with me ASAP!
Previous version was amazing
Will not be renewing until they decide to revert back to old version. Been a client for 10 years on and off. Previous version was amazing- put about 20 of my friends and clients on to the old version, now they’re all upset and looking to get refunds. New version is overly cluttered, and you end up having to adjust yourself. If you’ve used previous versions, you can still adjust everything fine, however, you have to know your stuff and be willing to take about 20 more minutes than what you’re used to in the previous version. Stay away until this is improved.
Downgrade
This app was the best app around till they did a complete design change. Now the app is hard to use with extremely small font. You could have the perfect day hit all you numbers and still end up with a red ! next to the day. There is no reason given for the red ! Is not clickable your just stuck with it. They also took away the option to just click over/under macros. I’m out for dinner watching the football I know I’m over. That option missing makes it hard to track those day over a 8-16 week period. This app no longer makes taking macros easy and fun. It’s now frustrating and chunky.
Worst diet app I’ve used
I love Dr.Mike but this is probably the worst calorie tracking app I’ve used. The U.i makes no sense and also has the worst database of foods / meals. Wish I could just get a refunds
App is Still 5 Years Behind
The app needs to add in a camera to take photos of the food especially if you going out to eat an AI feature. I also don’t get why a person needs do pay for the hypertrophy app and this app separately. They should work together along with cardio. I think for both of the apps to continue to grow they need to be open minded to listening to their customers. They seem pretty hyper focused on doing things only their way. For example, on the hypertrophy app they don’t even have options for supersets. Come on! The amount of money they are charging for both apps they should be cutting edge.
Should offer refunds.
Should offer refunds for those of us that paid for the year prior to the new update. This app was the best before the update. It helped me lose 40 pounds naturally. Now it’s a noisy, cluster mess, like every other diet app out there.
Total Joke
This app is so bad that I strongly suspect it is supported from a guy who had his college dissertation exposed, has a fake black belt, terrible performances in athleticism, lack of a pro card, did very poorly in bodybuilding competitions, and cannot diet so gets liposuction to remove the fat… all while saying it isn’t fat but just genetics. My guess is the person would claim to have an IQ so high & way above 160 that they can’t even measure it. He likely has said that he’s the single most knowledgeable trainer on earth. He might even boast he’s bigger & stronger than a Mr. Olympia such as Mentzer. Just a guess. I also assume he has a wild twist on justification for all these shortcomings & hypocrisies. At best, the entire program is false advertising. But let’s just call it what it is: snake oil.
Terrible Update
What used to be a good food tracking/planning app is now the worst diet app on the market. It’s a shame. Terrible update.
Unusable
Used to be a great app. Since the update a few months ago it has become unusable.
Don’t love the changes
I’ve used this app for years on and off for cuts, came in for another round and really can’t get behind how much the app has changed. I’ve always loved RP for how simple it is compared to all the other apps out there that seem to overcomplicate things for the sake of *innovation*. RP has done the same, this app is no longer simple. I spend twice as much time in this app as I used to in the older version. Big bummer!
Glorified My Fitness Pal
Overpriced Myfitness Pal with less customization, at least fitness pal you can choose low carb if you need it….not this.
Nitpicky, Ignorant, and Inconvenient
New update made this app worse than when I started. Even after the long planning and inputting your food you still have to “check in” or it won’t count the macros. Dr. Mike talks about it simplifying health and fitness while giving me the most complicated app that discourages me from even logging my food. It is such a pain that I’ve gone off the rails and quit completely. Their answer on FB to all our complaints is “I hear you.” that is corporate code for “we don’t care.” And I’ve heard it many times before. They won’t change. They don’t see it as an oversight and it’s not worth the crazy expense. Bodybuilders should go back to pen and paper. I used to adore Dr. Mike. I think he’s off his rocker. Not just about the diet app. I’m keeping the Hypertrophy app cuz that works for me. But I’ll be damned if I try to add any more input for his company. I don’t like being blown off when I know what works in apps and what doesn’t.
Bring Back the Old Version
Started a new diet cycle and was unpleasantly surprised to find that I had to learn an entire new app from scratch. Much higher learning curve than the previous version. I could go on and on about what I don’t like, but it appears I’m not the only one that just wants the old app back. It’s practically unusable. Would suggest to roll back versions and do some user testing before introducing new features or refactoring anything, because you clearly missed the mark with this one. I also canceled my subscription because of this update. Would consider reactivating it, but I would need to see a major improvement.
P.S. one of the things I loved about RP was the simplicity of not tracking calories…

Update review is terrible
RP recently updated their entire app and I don’t find it very user friendly. I’ve used RP for years and loved the prior layout of everything. This newest update feels very disconnected, especially since I can’t log macros based on protein, fats, and carbs anymore. It just has me log food in an “all in one” search engine. Also the + and - option vs using a line to drag across for how many grams lags so bad. I find it way more time consuming using this version vs the previous one. Deleting subscription and using another app.
Please bring back the older version. Literally no one likes this new update.

App is constantly buggy and roll out of major changes was done poorly
I don’t know who the developers offer for this app or who the product team is. But ever since this last major update this app constantly has issues. And is frankly hard to use.
Recent update
I was successful with previous version but this recent update complicated things so much i stopped using the app and started using another companies tracker.
Majorly disappointed.
Majorly disappointed.
The update is garbage
If been using RP Since 2018, the new app update its awful. Buggy time consuming to use and overall terrible UI. This is the first review of ever left on the App Store. Huge disappointment looking for other options now what a disaster
This isn’t the app I paid for
I bought a year’s subscription in late August and a month later suddenly it was a whole new app. The features I bought it for are gone. I don’t understand why app developers keep destroying the things that made them unique and worth subscribing to. They should have just made a new app instead of replacing the one we liked.
Complicated
Not user friendly
Disappointing update
The new update is sadly very disappointing. I have been a user of the templates and the app for seven years now and I will question if I should renew! First off the app became slow to use which is astonishing to see assuming proper beta testing was done. Second, it became so complicated that it’s not fun - while previously some updates would happen automatically (eg when you move the workout time the macros would move with the workout, now you need to manually force the macros to adjust after you update the workout time). Third, the font decreased. If it was hard to read before, now it’s impossible. And finally, in the age of GenAI I would have expected some integration with artificial intelligence. But the update moved the app in the opposite direction.
Refund
0 stars. Accidentally purchased a year subscription, No response from the company. Never used this app and I can't get my 100 dollars back.
New update is AWFUL
I’ve used this app for going on 5 years. The new update is so bad I don’t think I’ll renew this year. The old version allowed you to prioritize protein by cascading the macros down so your veggies didn’t count against your protein targets. Now I’m having to cut down on my protein and juggle the food amounts trying not to go over my protein goals. Eating a half can of tuna hardly feels like a proper meal guys. PLEASE revert to the old version. It was so simple and easy to use.
The new version is a complete failure!
The new version is a complete failure!
Garbage after update
Why? Who asked for this update!? You completely gutted and destroyed everything that was great about this app and made it completely not be user friendly. It’s so convoluted now and there were so many changes that it’s like using an entirely new app, complete failure of a rollout.
do not trust "Dr." Mike
Regret trusting him blindly for expertise in fitness after watching the expose on his piss poor thesis and his subsequent attempts to cover it up. Not cool dude!
New update not good
I had just started a cut when they updated it and changed everything and I lost data. I had to restart my cut. The new update lost its ease of use and organization that I loved. I’ve used this app before and it really worked well and now it honestly lost the appeal. I will just go back to MFP.
Update Horrible
New update ruined this app. UI is cluttered, prolonged time to be able to click around upon opening, and previously saved data disappears. Looking elsewhere now.
Falls Short Compared to Competitors
Parrot Pal and MacroFactor offer a far superior experience. Unfortunately, this app is poorly designed, difficult to navigate, and features an extremely limited and inaccurate food database. Considering its high cost, it does not provide sufficient value or usability to justify the expense.
WHAT DID U GUYS DO TO THE APP
GUYS WHAT IS THIS NEW UPDATE? you have introduced unnecessary complexity, and have made it extremely difficult for me to continue on with my subscription. that’s how big the learning curve is here. i don’t have time to sit here and figure out all the new ways this thing works. i would if it was intuitive BUT IT IS NOT INTUITIVE AT ALL. HIRE A NEW UX/UI DESIGNER NOW. THIS IS AN ABOMINATION 😡😡😡😡
Disaster redesign
The redesign is a complete disaster and the videos don’t help at all because they don’t actually show where someone is tapping. Whoever came up with this redesign should be fired
9.28.25 Update Blows
Wow the latest look, feel, and usability of the app is terrible. Keeps freezing too.
Miss the Old App
I used this app for over two years. The update is awful. I used to be able to easily just log protein, fats, and carbs the way it balanced your meals was terrible. Also, the protein is insanely low. I am only 115 lbs and it sets my protein at 105- which before was fine in the old format now the way it counts everything some meals it would have me eating only 2 oz of chicken or beef or less and good luck trying to make overnight protein oats with peanut butter and oatmeal. If I do that I am eating less than a half scoop of high quality protein powder which can’t be great for muscle growth. It is very clunky. I have kept my protein amounts the same from the old version but feel just really confused. Bring your old format back.
I miss the old app
The original had its cons but the new version is so much worse. Where did the custom foods list go? I loved having the protein, fats and carbs lists separate. The “move macros to another meal” option was so easy and useful. The button issue wasn’t fixed either, it takes 10 taps before you’re able to fully click on something. I’m really sad I accidentally updated. I wish I could go back :(
Please rollback
The recent update to the application, which carries a subscription cost of $20 per month, does not provide satisfactory value due to persistent functionality issues. The decision to implement a mandatory update for all users, despite its apparent bugs, is concerning, particularly given the high level of satisfaction with the previous version. This update disrupts the user experience and, more critically, undermines the reliability of a tool intended to support health-related decisions.
The presence of bugs in the current version raises significant concerns about the application’s trustworthiness for managing health and nutrition. Users depend on the application to provide accurate and reliable guidance, and any malfunctions could have serious implications for their well-being. I urge the restoration of the previous version’s stability or a prompt resolution of the current issues to ensure the application meets the expectations of its users and justifies its premium cost.

Bad update
I won’t lie, in the past I thought that this app would be one that I would use for years to come, but the new update is so bad it doesn’t even make me want to use the app anymore. Hope you can fix it or go back to how it was before and update it off that setup.
Hate the update
Not really sure why they changed the app entirely. This new update is terrible. I loved the old app and how everything was set up. If they don’t give us the option to revert back to the old original app set up I will not be renewing.
New design is trash
You took a fantastic app and turned into garbage, will be exploring other apps moving forward
Loved until recent update
I’ve done a series of cuts with this app and have always LOVED how easy it made dieting and tracking. This recent update happened in the middle of my cut and immediately discouraged me from continuing. It makes programming meals such a chore now! And the visual hierarchy of information is no longer accessible. Such a bummer. Please revert 😭
