Hello. I have way too much time on my hands so I just googled encryption methods. This is really scary. This app uses what’s called client side encryption. Client side encryption means that the company itself cannot see your chats or your calls. So anybody can talk about anything on here. There needs to be what’s called server side encryption. So the company itself is able to see your chat. Please do not let your kids out here. Please run the other way. Thank you. Only the military should be using this.

App size is huge
The size of this app keeps increasing with every image or video you receive. There’s no way on the iOS app to limit storage or tell it to delete only media automatically. If the developers don’t come up with a solution soon, people are going to start deleting Signal.

Full of scams and threats
Everytime I talk to someone on here they try and extort me …. It’s disgusting
Massive amounts of background activity when not in use and without permissions-what is it doing?
Even with the app fully closed, all permissions of any kind denied, background app refresh disabled, and without any connection to iCloud (I do not back up to any cloud), and even with cellular data use denied (WiFi only), this app conducts massive amounts of background activity and hogs the battery on my new iPhone 17 pro max (pretty hard to do). No other messaging, video, or any app does this on my phone, not even others that have end to end encryption features. There is no excuse for any app to be working so much in the background without any permission to do so, even on days it isn’t used. Hard to believe they aren’t collecting data, especially as this issue has been discussed for years with no clear answer about why it’s overriding your settings and what it’s actually doing.
