what’s the point?
if I were in an office, I don’t want to hear every conversation with every worker; I want to hear only the conversations pertinent to me. But Slack makes me hear every conversation that’s going on in the whole organization. I get notifications, it says you have 12 unread messages scroll up, so I scroll up, then it says I have 24 undead messages scroll up, then it says I have 35 unread messages scroll up….. none of them have anything that I need to know; it’s all conversations between other people with projects those other people are working on. Then when I want to refer back to a previous conversation in Slack that had some important information, where the heck is that conversation? Good luck finding it, I can’t.
Worse organization of data one could use.
If you want to go back to the days before the World Wide Web, when you had to go into a server and search through directories and files, well that's what this is!!! Numerous channels where individuals post their updates and all other day to day. Months later when you missed it they,'ll say "It was in the @accounting channel, yet you can't find it. Your user profile doesn't follow you so you have to make a new one for every device.

Horrible. Disorganized. No way to find docs or anything after reading it. Worst tool ever
Disruptive
One of the most effective tools for the disruption of deep work. Divided attention and panic are built in features for this app. The precision and thoughtfulness of an email with the speed and rapid response of texting are the expectations around professional collaboration that this app creates. Besides these deeper problems it’s buggy as hell. Why are we working like this?

Activity update is disastrous
Most unnecessary change ever. And you still haven't fixed the read state bugs.

Very uncomfortable to use this app. Laggy, slow, no iOS compatibility, feels like an android app - pain to use it. TURN ON STUPID Ai SUPPORT

Always glitching… support is always slow and “clear the setting” no initiative to improve.

this app sucks. Use Claude fix the bugs. Have to constantly reinstall to see images on iPad, new iPad. Updated iOS and etc. I can see the tag but no images. Images show fine on desktop or laptop via web but not on iPAD or IOS app smh

Yeah whoever made this needs to just quit! Dumbest app can’t even leave a conversation! Can’t remove no one even if you don’t know who they are or each other! Like yes let a random stranger text me and all but I can’t do anything. Weirdo
All noise. No signal
This is one of those apps that give you the illusion of being productive and having great communication with your team, but all it does is distract you from staying focused and create noise in your world. I hate that I have to use it with the company I work for.

Notifications never sync
Slack needs to figure out how to sync notifications between desktop and mobile. Seeing unread notifications on my Apple device that were already seen and dismissed on desktop induces panic.
Slow and buggy
Its primary job is chat and that is the least coherent and least reliable part of this painfully slow app. I wrote this review because Slack prompted me to write one even though I have that disabled in Settings.

I get a different set of channels on the app than I do when I log on through website. My team sent additional invites to join channels as a “join slack”. But because I had already joined slack with the first set of invites, the app will not let me just accept the new channel invites. It won’t let me bypass “join” and just log on to accept the invites. The only help offered is an ai “slack it” which is not helpful.
Frequently Used Emojis
Fix the frequently used emoji feature. Only default ones populate now. It used to have all my made ones for my slack group populated in the frequently used. Now I have to search for all the emojis every time I need use them. And they will not populate no matter how many times I’ve used them or any emoji!! Why did this stop working? Please fix!!

Frustrating badges
I will open the app due to a badge implying 14 unread. Open and there are no unread messages. Happens multiple times per day.

How is it NOT possible to remove people from a group chat. It’s 2026 that should be a simple function with a communication app it’s really annoying
Confusing layout
Too much going on on this app. Not easy to find the conversation you need and who’s responded to what thread. Easier to use GroupMe or WhatsApp

Push really never work… more than 10 employees and all of us have push notifications problems
