Garbage update
I'm deleting the app. After 4 years of using it, I accidentally updated the app and it's completely useless now and they deleted all my pictures of receipts I had for the past two months.

Tried finding out more on my Mac, since that’s an easier interface for sending email. Entered a support ticket in their interface, which I can access without logging in. I should say tried to enter as after I typed up the questions I was told I was blocked.
So, with so many unknowns, I cancelled the free trial. Again, it looks like the product I want. But so many questions, and so few answers. I don’t mind paying for a product if it meets my needs. But can’t tell if it does or doesn’t.

New update is more difficult
The report I need to access is now located at the bottom of the report list. So the handy reports are from 2019, at the top of the list
Dates are 35% correct
I have to always update the dates after it scans the receipts. The pictures are taken with a iPhone 16 pro max and I make sure that everything is clear. I can even see the date clear as day on the picture but it still gets it wrong. Not worth the $100 if I’m having to correct the app all the time.
Ads often making app literally unusable
I don’t have a problem with the use of ads to support the development of this app. However, I’m often having to force quit the app when a full screen ad appears and does not go away on its own or allow some means of dismissing it. Even the “x” to close, or the “<Back” button are fake and launch the App Store for whatever app is being advertised.

Im so annoyed by this update. I do NOT WANT TO PRE SCAN ANYTHING JUST LET ME INPUT IT MANUALLY. Ugh. The app was JUST FINE.
App Doesn’t Work
At some point this app stopped letting me export CSV files. The app is unresponsive when I try to generate the report, I have deleted and re-downloaded it several times with no improvement.

Terrible and glitchy!
DO NOT waste your time on this app! Ridiculous bugs and glitches throughout. First, the currency “exchange rate” is limited to 2 decimal places - which means that any country’s currency that is more than 100:1 US dollar equivalent will not work. Second, after you spend all your time importing your receipts and fill out all these stupid categories, it won’t generate ANY report of any kind in any format. When I try to produce a PDF it just says “PDF failed to load” with no info about how to fix it. And when I try to create a CSV it just get stuck on the wheel of “processing” forever and never does anything.
Just trying to get you to subscribe
The new update to this app just focuses on getting you to get the pro version. Not worth downloading anymore

You must sign up to use, once you sign up, it wants you to sign up again, charging your card multiple times, never letting you use the scanning feature. BUYER BEWARE!

I've been using Smart Receipts for work daily for the last 2 years. In this latest update to v5, image quality for imported receipts is absolutely HORRENDOUS. There is a setting to adjust PDF image quality, but even set to 100%, the images are so incredibly fuzzy, that some of the information in them is basically unreadable. They also unnecessarily changed the interface all around, so if you were used to previous versions, prepare to relearn how to navigate the app for no good reason. But really, the main problem is that ridiculously poor image quality makes the whole thing nearly worthless now, even if you decide to pay for the "Pro" unlock.

This update has made the app I functionally. The calendar does not work properly. It is now more complete to scan a receipt.
Loved, New Update Ruined it
Used it several years and loved it. Decided to buy yearly, 3 days later it updated to new version and it is terrible. I don’t like anything about it, too bad you can’t get the old version back.
Stopped Working
I’m paying for the smart fill option and it stopped working. Don’t waste your money here.
Another wonderful app ruined by an unnecessary redesign.
The previous version was time tested and simple. Now they've gone in and redesigned it just to ruin it. Go take a photo requires going into a sub-menu. I have to delete the 0.0 out of the "total" field and there's an unnecessary tax field. "Reimbursable" is not checked by default and the date picker doesn't work. Go back to the old design and I'll renew my subscription.
Zero support
On the app you can go into setting at click support but it doesn’t work. It’s a joke they added the icon in the first place.
Updates improve and worse at same time
Got rid of auto report so now I have to manually send them to my contacts. Got rid of full size number pad when typing in prices so now I have to hunt and peck prices in and if you hit a letter it closes it. Overall not a user friendly app.
Bad update
“Improvements” in otherwise well functioning apps generally result in frustration and difficulty in use. I’ve used Smart receipts for years without issues but latest update makes it nonfunctional.
New Updates Broke My App
I depend on this app to run my business. Paid for a pro plan and loved everything about. The most recent update broke critical features, most importantly the ability to run and export CSV reports.

Great app gone bad
Devs updated the app and broke it - eliminating defaults for category and payment method, requiring several more steps to import a photo, breaking the ability to put in a default mileage rate etc etc etc. even the support link is broken. Wish Apple let you roll back to previous versions.

Forced a subscription in update and I can’t run report to get my receipts.

I've been using the app since early 2000's now its telling me I need to have a subscriptions going forward after the lastest update 4/2024, not cool for long times users, shame on you and the reply you'll make to this to justify it. So over all the greediness.

Almost 400 price increase
Liked using the app we paid $12.99 last year for, have 3 others in office using it. All of a sudden I start getting ads without any warning about subscription coming up. AND the fact they went from yearly to a subscription based and 4x the original amount. I get it, but 4x?? Come on.
Clunky and ads lock up the application
Very irritating to have ads, that when you attempt to close or cancel - lock up application forcing reset. There used to be no ads in this app.

Deletes your data
I deleted an obsolete report from 2022 and it deleted all my **2023** data, because it considered it attached to that old report - even though the receipts were clearly outside the date parameters. There was no warning, no chance to restore it, nothing. Just all that work gone with one click. Do NOT trust your data to this app.

The app won’t recognize a receipt unless you pay money and if you do it won’t actually register the purchase claiming you don’t have scans

I am not signed up for auto renew and you charge me every year! I disputed with credit card company and was successful. You can’t find anyone to help at smart receipts. Stay away from this sham if a company.
Wrong listed receipt dates
Receipts are entered as one date and are shown with a wrong date on the summary page of the app. Total per day doesn’t reflect the receipt dates. Support doesn’t work in the app menu, neither on the website.

I found this not intuitive to use. First of all I opened the app, hit the plus button & scanned my 30 receipts, THEN found no way to add them to a report. So then I tried making the report first and adding the receipts by **rescanning**(!) them. Unfortunately I accidentally hit something on about receipt 18 that pushed me out of the adding receipts process and so all those second scans seemed to be lost as well. Also, the pro version should use the daily exchange rate as a default, not make me hit “pro” on every receipt. The scan & read receipt option seems to struggle finding the white border of the receipt. I ended up adjusting for most scans unless they were tiny. I’m giving up because this is too annoying.
Was great once but not anymore
Tax time was easy at one point with this app. Everything is organized and it would take 30-60 minutes to get everything together rather than 3-6 hours. I had a situation 2 years ago where I lost 4-5 months of receipts but gave them the benefit of the doubt because their support team responded so quickly. But this app has been more nightmare than blessing for the last year. Between every receipt I’ve scanned in the last 5 years being removed then uploaded again, missing receipts that get stuck in the unattached file spinning for weeks/months and now scanning receipts that say they’ve been scanned and are done but are not there. This has been 2 year’s of tax time nightmares. I’ve downloaded several similar apps since and honestly this is the best of all of them. But that’s only when it is working correctly. I’ve lost dozens of receipts that I can’t recover and have gotten rid or and dozens of hours trying to find and rescan receipts into other apps. I have given too much time and have lost too much information to continue on.

I have been a pro user for several years. Lately the program has been inserting the wrong of receipts and now dropping the scanned receipt. I have sent 2 emails with no response or help in finding the lost images. Poor way to run a company.
Subscription fee city
There’s almost no functionality to this app except to enter everything manually without paying money to this app. You have to subscribe to the app for a monthly or yearly fee to get the ability to scan your receipts, otherwise you only get the ability to enter things in a form. Waste of time.
Used to be great
I bought the premium version last year (which was around $30) and now they have new premium versions. So all I spent on has essentially gone out in the window as I have ads on my app again. Happy to update my review if the issue is resolved.

I really wish you would quit changing the app. you keep changing features every time I go to use it I have to learn it all over again.

Would not recommend for Businesses. Does not have a web browser feature.
Seems like a great app and all but as someone who manages 30+ vehicles and employees, i absolutely need a web based platform. It’s simply not efficient to do everything on your phone. Extremely disappointing.

Hi, loved the app and have used it for years now,but the app force an update without me knowing and every time I take a picture of the new receipt it changes all the expenses in the report to the amount in the picture of the receipt and it’s not giving me options to change in different currencies and refusing to put in correct date.please help me before I lose all my receipts!!
