Cash grab and buggy app
This app sucks! I created an account and signed up for the 3 day free subscription. After signing up for the subscription, I was no longer able to sign back in to my account using my email and password. I tried to reset my password but it would not send me anything to my email. Seems like they are trying to just cash grab so you can’t cancel your subscription.

My main complaints are:
1. The app syncs poorly across devices. So if I add a food or a note it is not visible on my partners phone sometimes for days and sometimes it never syncs.
2. I’m now not able to login. I was logged out and the app stopped recognising my password so I reset it only to find that I’m continually prompted to ‘try a different email or reset my password’ I reset and tried it about a dozen times, made sure everything is updated did all the usual trouble shooting. So now I’m permanently logged out of this useless app.

Useless unless you pay for it
Literally cannot do anything on the app unless you subscribe, and they don’t even tell you until after you give them all of your info and answer all their “doctor questions”. The info throughout this entire app can be easily learned via a google search, reading a book, or just asking AI. Definitely not worth $20 a month.
Unusable
Anytime I try and search a food the app crashes. I paid money to never be able to use the app
Clunky
I log foods and they don’t show up as “tried” until after re-logging multiple times. I tried making a meal plan and it disappeared. I’ve fed him allergens and even though they’re in my list of foods he’s tried it doesn’t show that I’ve made progress toward introducing that allergen. The lack of effective tracking is frustrating and totally defeats the purpose of the app. Waste of money. Only helpful thing is info on how to serve different foods but I could’ve gotten that with a google search.
Terrible waste of money
I regret having paid for this every single day when I to use it. It simply does not have the functionality that it promotes.
One big glitch is it does not track the foods we've tried correctly. In one place it says we've tried 0 allergens, in another it says we've tried 1 allergen, but we have logged having eaten 2 allergens.
I have spent sooo much time on this app and truly gotten nothing out of the paid version. I ultimately paid so I could see the videos..only to realize after paying there are so few videos.

App keeps force quitting
I paid $99 for an annual subscription and the app force quits every time I try to use it
Don’t waste your time
The only free thing here is a welcome screen and super irritating pop ups pushing to buy a subscription.
App does not work!
I have been excited to use this program; however, the app does nothing. You can download it, but does not go beyond the initial welcome page. I have tried twice and no luck either time. Please fix, thanks!
App is crashing and is unusable!!
Whenever I try to search a food the app immediately crashes and I paid for the year subscription so it seems like a complete waste of money
Changed to Subscription - SCAM
I downloaded this app back in 2023 for my daughter and I paid around five or six dollars for the premium version which has everything on it and I absolutely loved the app. However, I just started using it again this year 2026 for my son, and now I see that it’s a full subscription service to pretty much use any part of the app even though I paid for this app already to download it in the first place. I immediately deleted the app. This is ridiculous that they are charging this much money to use the app.
App never works
Every time I try to use the search function the app crashes. What’s the point of charging people for an app that doesn’t work?
Crashes when searching a food
the reason for this application is to find out how to serve foods safely and literally whenever I search for a food it crashes. I’ve been waiting for an update but now with the update it’s just the same.
Pointless
It is a pointless app, I regret getting it. I didn’t use at all for my kid. Waste of money
Expensive
$100 a year is kinda crazy and you can’t do anything on the free version, which of course you learn after you go through all the questions.
Not working
I am paying for a subscription to this but can’t watch any of the videos as they are not working. I even deleted the app and redownloaded it and I still can’t watch any of the videos. I am paying for a subscription but can’t access what I’m paying for?
Just wants you to pay
Basically everything is behind a paywall, so you can’t even evaluate the value of the app before purchasing. Also theres no real starting point in the app as a first time user. Information is scattered. Finding guidance on what to start feeding my 6 month old and how to serve it requires me to go hunting for that information. Once I did find it, it was behind a paywall. Essentially, pay us about $100 for the subscription and we’ll tell you how to feed a banana to your 6month old. Make the barrier of entry worth it.
Horrible now
This app was so great in 2020/2021. It’s extremely monetized now and on a subscription when before you could access everything. The changes to this app have complicated feeding again when before it simplified it. Get rid of the monthly subscription and go with a one time cost. Get rid of the bells and whistles and go back to being a feeding database.
Ok I guess - updated to Ehhh
There’s a lot of great features, but a few things I wish it would have for the price (I have the subscription).
What I love:
- detailed info on how to prepare foods per age
- meal suggestions
What it NEEDS:
- a timer / tracker to easily determine how long ago you last fed your baby a specific food
- a way to make / modify your own recipes
Other stuff it has:
- meal planning (I don’t use)
- guides / articles (not many and the info can be found online free)
Honest take, I would not subscribe again if I realized how annoying it would be to not have the features I want most. As a first time mom, there’s so much fear mongering that it’s easy to feel like you need stuff that really isn’t super helpful.
I would rate it 5 stars if it just had a timer to tell me how many days ago I last fed my baby each food in a easy to read list (sorted by how long ago the food was eaten). I feel like this is a feature that it desperately needs since babies need continual exposure to allergens after introduction.
Update:
So there are “badges” on the app for achievements such as “introducing allergens” or “x number of foods tried”. I absolutely LOVE this in principle, but its execution is terrible!
Some of the badges have to be selected before you can work towards them. It doesn’t count foods you logged before selecting the specific badge for some of them, even if you’ve already achieved the “badge” and entered all the associated data (ex. Allergens badges). So why even have this feature if it essentially doesn’t work?
I know this update is about a minor annoyance, but for a subscription that cost $99/year I expected more.
Update to the update:
Favoriting recipes for meals does not seem to actually save them under the favorited meals? Major buyers remorse on this subscription. •_•

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I’m really disappointed with the allergen tracking experience.
Progress only updates if you follow the exact allergen introduction steps through the “100 Foods” program. If you’re adding your own meals in the plan area - even when you’re adding allergens by each day and marking it complete the app doesn’t recognize progress. That makes the feature feel restrictive instead of supportive.
Tracking allergens should be quick and flexible for real-life feeding, but right now it takes a lot of extra time to log foods and update progress. For a paid app, I expected a smoother, more intuitive experience that works with different approaches, not just one specific workflow.

Glitchy and Not User Friendly
Annoyed that I paid $100 for this app. I can hardly find the information I want, it isn’t intuitive to use at all. Already introduced allergens never update. I’ve already tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Frustrating to have paid for something that doesn’t even work, and not just for me looking at so many of the recent reviews. Major updates are needed to this app.
Nothing like the advertising or social media pages
The videos are a horrible quality, can barely hear what is being said. When turning up the volume to hear better, sound becomes fuzzy. No closed caption option either. Very unprofessional operation to be charging so much. Save your money and just do a little reading before starting foods.
So frustrating to use
UPDATED TO INCLUDE MORE INFO:
As other reviewers have said, a feature to track how long it’s been since my baby had a certain food would be very handy for allergens.
The “my next meals” carousel is constantly recommending meals that we’ve already tried. And it even says they’ve been tried! So why are they being suggested again? When I try to mark them as tried so they go away, it marks it as tried today, but we didn’t try it today so I’m not trying to track it like that. So annoying.
Under the Plan feature you can only plan meals not just foods. I really don’t care about the meals feature and don’t use that. I just want to be able to look at my calendar and know what my plan is for which foods on which days. I don’t want things like olive oil or seasonings automatically added.
This app is awful. It crashes all the time, and I’m constantly led to dead ends with links. The app routes me to the website only to ask me to purchase the app - I HAVE!! So frustrating and hard to use. 0/10. Stay away.

All data lost
All feeding data has disappeared. This company should be liable for any medical repercussions.
Won’t even let me log in or create account.
Kept saying I had an account already. When I try to sign up. I tried multiple times and both of my emails. I even tried to reset my password but, it wouldn’t work. I’ve seen it advertised everywhere and was really looking forward to it. But, I’m extremely disappointed.
Not free
i hate when apps let you download for free but then after signing up w your email and filling out their questionnaires they want you to pay for their membership of $20 a month or $99 per year. Everything i can do on this app i can do on google for free. Better yet, any Facebook page on starting solids filled w both new and experienced moms can help another mom for free. I get so disappointed when i download a free app just to have to pay in app for its services after giving all of my information for free. That's my review, since they wanted me to review and give feedback on the app less than 5 minutes after downloading and signing up.
Horrible UI and super glitchy
I am so annoyed I spent how much money for this app to never work. My tried foods never update. I can never get my already introduced allergens to update. My planned meals always glitches out. After using it every day I just want to throw my phone across the room. I don’t understand how everyone loves this app when I can buy a damn fridge magnet and track everything better myself.
Not worth the subscription
App is helpful when starting solids and track food log. But it’s not helpful once your baby is an advanced eater. I wish the app would help to create a weekly meal plan that you can print. Also, a lot of this information is free on the internet, so again the subscription is not worth it.
Takes your info and then makes you pay for everything
Honestly scam at this point, makes you put in all your child’s personal information, then once you actually start using the app, EVERYTHING is locked behind a paywall. Don’t download
Useful Content, Frustrating and Inflexible App
I’ve been using this app for a while, and while some parts are useful-like basic tracking and meal suggestions-it is not user-friendly. The app frequently fails to update, and there’s no way to manually enter, edit, or correct information. You also can’t add foods your baby has tried unless they already exist in the app, which makes it feel very limited and not truly customizable.
I’m currently working on the scoop-and-mash stage and have no way to record that my child is scooping and mashing different foods-the app simply won’t allow it. I’ve also attempted to start peanut allergen tracking twice, but the app didn’t save it and won’t let me add the allergen manually.
Overall, the lack of flexibility and basic functionality is extremely frustrating, especially for a paid app. For the cost, I expected something far more intuitive and adaptable. I don’t think it’s worth purchasing-using the free version or trying a different app is probably a better option.

Hate it
Looks user friendly and helpful on the surface, but when you start actuslly using it, it’s frustrating!! Baby had an allergic reaction to egg on day 2. Marked it as possible allergen. Then it forced me start the next allergen plan immediately! It wouldn’t let me go around it or choose other foods! Also, I accidentally marked day 3 egg as tried, and it wouldn’t let me unmark it. I’m so annoyed with this app. I am already stressed out as a new mom trying to help my baby’s eczema and understand how to feed her. Useless app.
Everything is behind a paywall
I used this app with my daughter & loved tracking everything. I think there may have been a one-time purchase at that point to access all the features which I was happy to do. Now with my son starting solids I was so excited to use the solid starts app again but to do literally anything except see how to serve food you need a monthly subscription. It let me track the first 11 foods, but now if I even want to view the calendar to see when he tried them I can’t unless I pay for the subscription. Very disappointing
paywall
you used to be able to see the way foods should be served with pictures, though now they put it behind a subscription. i feel like that’s really dangerous for those who may misunderstand the description of how foods should be served…. total hazard. most of the app is behind a paywall anyways, at least keep the pictures .
Makes you sign up and then tells you that it costs money
I hate apps that make you go all the way through the sign up and waste 10 minutes and THEN they tell you it’s 100 bucks a year. So if you’re wondering, they do not have a free version except a trial. Would’ve been a cool app if it weren’t for the lack of transparency on cost.
Too much work and not very iseful
I found the app not very useful. A simple board with stickers and check marks is more helpful. For example, I can’t see right the way how many times I tried certain foods, I have to find the food and then can see such info.
App doesn’t work as intended
Paid for a one year subscription and still can’t access the app. keeps popping to pay for subscription.. don’t want to use it no more and want full refund asap.
$$$
You can’t do anything at all in this app without paying $12/ month. It’s ridiculous that they’re charging such a high rate (that’s discounted by the way) for people trying to help their most vulnerable members of society.
Bugged
The app asks me to type my child’s name but won’t let me type. I can’t move forward until I type her name so I can’t use the app.
can find/log this info elsewhere
this app looked really exciting but it’s very annoying that everythingggg i click prompts me to pay for their subscription so there’s literally no use to the app. not everyone wants a million subscriptions. u can only click on about three things total otherwise you have to pay. it’s an app about feeding babies for goodness sake, $100/year??? insaneeee i will do this elsewhere. delete delete! don’t waste your time. also after my disappointment i checked reviews to see many others disappointed with the cost of this app and they just claim free and ask you to please change your review. but aren’t willing to change prices🤦🏻♀️needs more 1 stars
This just charged me $49.99!
As I was singing up for this app, it said it was FREE for the first 365 days, and $99/year after that. As soon as I approved the app subscription, they charged me $49.99. I have a screen shot as proof that it was FREE for the first year but I got charged instead!!! A whopping amount, too!
Bug
The app asked for my child’s gender and then didn’t let me complete setup so I can’t use the app.
Always have error messages
Always have error messages, rarely does anything load properly. Please fix these bugs!!
Extremely expensive
Seems like a great app with great information but to literally do anything in the app it’s $20 a month or $100 a year. This is EXTREMELY expensive for an app. Not even Netflix is this expensive.
Pay to Use
The app is practically useless unless you pay for a plan. I just wanted a good app to track what all my baby has tried. This unfortunately is not it.
Good content, awful app
The content of the app is generally good but I find it infuriating to navigate and use. There are too many points of entry and versions of similar content. You cannot easily return to where you have been before. You think you’ve saved a plan or something only to realize that you must not have. I am a tech savvy millennial and I feel like my boomer mother trying to file her taxes. I can’t believe I’m paying for this product (especially when I am inundated with hyperlinked text throughout the app telling me to subscribe when I’m already subscribed). I’m shocked that Solid Starts is the preeminent resource for BLW with such a disappointing product.
Always something going wrong
I mostly like the app and it is mostly functional but it seems that every time I use it something is just not quite up to par. Sometimes I log foods and they just disappear. My meal plan and grocery list haven’t updated with the new plan in the last five plans. The app has potential but it doesn’t seem to work fully. And just now I haven’t been able to log in at all. I reset my password, updated the app and it still won’t log me in. I can log in on the website, just not on the app. Needs work.
Great information, terrible app
App crashes a lot and it’s impossible to track allergens properly. I can mark the same allergens as “tried” multiple times and the app still says “not started” even after asking for help from Solid Starts. Very frustrating.
So buggy!
I feel like there is always something wrong with this app. It crashes so much which is super frustrating for something with such a high subscription fee.
I’d like my money back please
I finally paid the $19.99 for more info and it is not worth it. I don’t want video guides. I just want ideas of what to feed next. Every time I try to search a food, the app crashes and closes on me. I was getting more out of the free version
