The reason is simple: there’s no option to use the app entirely in English. The list of native languages is also too limited. For example, Russian isn’t available, while Polish is. It’s frustrating when I have to complete an exercise and the instructions themselves are written in Polish. If the instructions were in English, I would understand them without any problem.

WORST LEARNING APP I HAVE DOWNLOAD
This app is just pay wall
Absolutely not worth it
It is not free. It is a very expensive subscription. They say they offer a free week but they don’t even do that, they stop you from being able to use the speak (voice) feature after one lesson. Then you have to upgrade to an even higher subscription. Not even worth the trial. Seems like an interesting method but I guess we’ll have to wait for a more reasonable app to find out.
False advertising and Monetization
Based off from the adds I’ve been seeing online, I was not expecting it to be monetized so heavily. There’s no reason to have everything be locked behind a paywall. I wouldn’t mind if some features locked behind a pay, but everything?!? Terrible

You have to buy to learn Spanish. Are we deadass. Puta. I didn’t learn that from you, I learned that in the mental hospital. Yes, the mental hospital taught me more Spanish than this app.

1. Pay Wall… 2. It’s not very intuitive… I honestly can’t tell why my microphone wasn’t working but it sucked (yes I checked that it has access and it worked fine for the initial setup).

Beware of the Free Trial!!!
I did the free trial, and decided to cancel before it was over because I wasn’t using the app like I thought I would. The app confirmed that it was canceled and that the subscription would expire April 8th, 2026. I was still charged for an entire year of the subscription. I took a screenshot of the proof of cancellation hoping to send it in through the support center, but there’s no way for me to explain what happened or attach it. It just gives a few general options to choose from that weren’t very helpful. I had to request a refund through Apple and am now waiting to see if it gets approved. I just took a deeper dive through the reviews and saw that others have had the same issue.
Took my money
I paid for the tool but did not receive the access to it. I emailed them multiple times and sent proof of payment. I got responses that someone would look into it and assist but no one ever did. Now I can’t even get a response back from them.

There are not enough languages there are only about five to learn

Needs better speech recognition
Largely I really like this app, but I get frustrated with it as it doesn’t seem to be able to hear certain sounds that I make, especially the letter L. If I were mispronouncing a hard word, I get that, but it’s largely not hearing me say something like “lo” or “la” and it is incredibly frustrating to keep getting counted as incorrect for simple words, especially since I am saying them.
Also, this app is not very good at teaching Kanji. The review screen where you’re seeing them for the first time is so tiny. You can’t make it out and there’s literally nothing to help you understand what the radicals are why the kanji means what it means.

Unusable with AirPods
The app paused and cuts out when using AirPods, because everyone wants to share there lessons with the world around them? Glad I didn’t pay for this before trying it.
The voice recognition is horrible
I have to yell into my phone in order for the voice recognition to work. I have such a horrible headache after one lesson. I quite because of how frustrating it is.

Don’t put too much trust in AI, ever
I’ve had my fill of tech companies trying to push AI into every single facet of life, but at least for language I expected, oh I don’t know, A LARGE LANGUAGE MODEL would be able to help facilitate my French learning. I can’t believe I paid so much money for a year’s subscription just to experience such mediocre lessons and conversational ability. AI’s nowhere near good enough to be your language teacher. Pay a real human being to tutor instead.

“After running, I like to consume oral rehydration solution” definitely gives more AI vibes than people vibes when practicing “real world” conversation scenarios.
Why wouldn’t Deutsch (German) be on the list?
It’s one of the most common languages people want to learn? I’m German, and I need a way to learn German faster and more efficiently. I heard of this app and had high hopes, until I realized the absence of German. I hope you think to add this language in the near future, it would help me personally, and many more.
very basic
doesn’t explain grammar, more of a vocab memorization like duo. despite pronouncing words wrong it counts it as correct. also sets the daily timer for each step of a lesson instead of the whole lesson

I saw an Ad saying this app is perfect for learning languages so I downloaded it and there’s only like 5 I could select. No German. Which is what I’m trying to learn. I read the reviews and learned basically all the features have to be paid for so nah. I deleted immediately.
Too many inaccuracies, AI slop
I used this app to learn Spanish and I’m sure it helped me to speak more confidently. However, I’m using it now to brush up on French which I’ve studied extensively in the past and after just a few lessons I’ve realized that it tries to teach phrases/grammar that nobody would actually use, and rejects things used in everyday speech. I also noticed a few things which were blatantly wrong in the Spanish lessons, and I shudder to think of how many incorrect things I and other people learned in that course that went by unnoticed. Overall I now think this app is AI slop that’s not worth the subscription cost.
New Updates
Since I’ve updated the app (twice) it stopped tracking my progress, it doesn’t always register what I’m saying, and since the latest update it’s started telling me I’m translating wrong and to say something completely different than what it originally told me to say
Was excited but..
I was super excited until I found out there was only 6 languages... there great languages but I really wanted to learn German maybe I'll come back in the future if they add German. I might use it but idk
