Disappointing for a returning user
I used Strava during covid and I really enjoyed tracking my progress and seeing how many miles I would log in a year. After taking a break and coming back all of my favorite features are now behind a pay wall. I’m very disappointed to see you need to pay for features that use to be free.
Bikes: used to be great, badly outdated now
Strava completely ignores gravity/bike park riders. Their algorithm auto-flags any ride using truck or hi-speed chairlift uplift, forcing us to turn our computers on and off every single lap. Worse, Strava refuses to implement 2-3 year bike park (or badly damaged remote area) segment resets. Bike park trails change constantly due to erosion and reroutes, so keeping ancient / outdated leaderboard times from years ago makes the segments completely useless for tracking current and meaningful progression. Meanwhile, they protect obvious & known leaderboard cheaters on remote trails by rejecting multiple layers of clear proof (THEY developed to detect cheating) when we flag them. Meanwhile you can sail or velomobile, which can easily have motors ON them: o problem. Not a great way to market these services - why subscribe?

Another profit over people model
Strava has raised their price YOY with no real value add, and now they are making hard to tag people who worked out with you. The only reason you need to tag someone, is usually because Strava didn’t work in the first place. The app mainly doesn’t work when the location is turned off, which is ridiculous. I wouldn’t doubt that next is ad-based tiers.
Nike run club is 10x better
So many features are so plain or just don’t work. I have never had an issue with Nike run club, and my very first run on Strava, my run gets cut by 0.2 miles and magically merged into houses. This app is so basic and needs debugging immediately. P.S. I’m a CS major, so please hit me up if anything.
can’t login to the app
I have an account on strava but i can only use it through the website, whenever i try to login through the app it tells me “something went wrong, please try again” no matter what i do this keeps happening
Insanely slow customer service (3+ weeks)
My email was deactivated after graduating from school. I tried to change my account’s email on both the app and the website but only received unclear error messages. I had begun a free trial and was locked out of my account since the only way to log in is with two-factor authentication through your accounts email (mine no longer exists). The trial period ended, and my card was charged $79.99 for an app I cannot access. This sounds like a pretty routine fix but I have been waiting for 22 days now to receive any kind of assistance. I love the utility of Strava and have used it for many years but I’m very upset its administrators at this time. Hopefully this catches their attention!
Doesn’t record runs
Every time I try to run it only shows the time I have run for and never the pace and distance until I finish the run, which is horrible so idk if I have done a mile or if I have to keep running

Not ADHD friendly
I forget to pause this thing all the time, like if I am walking to the beach and then end up sitting down for awhile. The other day, it tracked me doing a walk and then sitting in my apartment for 5 hours, and you can’t edit the session. If this app already has my location, why not have a feature that auto-pauses if the user is in one place for longer than 10 minutes? If this feature is added, then it is a 5-star app to me.
Annoying
I tried to cancel my subscription, you have to do it through their website which isn’t the best. It was very hard to cancel, I had to look it up to figure it out. Once I figured out how to cancel it they tried everything to make you not cancel by offering you more stuff, I think I had to confirm to cancel at least 4 times. I’m not very impressed.
this sucks
i ran an entire run and when i clicked finished it had the audacity to tell me no movements detected. i guess because i was only using my watch and not my phone?! how rude

I did the trial through Apple, canceled immediately… was still charged. Customer service is unavailable. 79.99 charged to my bank for an app I can’t use. Worst app ever
Can’t log in with Apple ID
I had a chance to log in and log in a run, however now that I try to log in with my Apple ID it says “Something went wrong please try again”. I submitted a ticket to the team 2 months ago, and they responded that they’re still backed up. Please fix, thanks!
Genuinely terrible
So I tell the app I only bike ride and it begins to show me only running trails? How does that make since

Overly Cluttered UI
I hate this app simply because of the overloaded unnecessarily complex too-much-in-my-face UI. This is despite the premium subscription.
Deleting Account is Impossible
I love how difficult it is to delete your account. There’s no solution that’s fully in app, you have to click on a link that forces a webpage popup that doesn’t work if you have a vpn, that then forces you to login again, just to check a box to “request” your account to be deleted. For an app with so many “really” positive reviews, it sure why deleting your account needs to be done in the dumbest way possible. Oh and after all that, my account STILL isn’t deleted! It only “starts the process” and they’re supposed to email me. It’s been over a week, so I resubmitted my request. Gosh, I wish they made it even harder, but it’s already the hardest platform to delete your account on so I’m not sure how they could make it harder. Considering how bad the experience is, I’m confident they have more ideas to make it worse.
Impossible to disable in-app notifications
Drives me crazy when apps do this. They send you all this nonsense spam in the app and since it's in the app and not a push notification, you literally can't turn it off because they want to spam you out of ever using their app.
Poor apple health integration
Strava is assuming that “Functional Strength Training” in apple health equates to “Physical Therapy”, which is completely mind boggling and annoying.

Data great, gps sucks
It’s a great place to store data. However, don’t be stupid like me and rely on the gps in the app. It is actual garbage. Just went on a 1.5 mile walk - it cut a whole mile off. Seriously just using my garmin from now on
Can’t unsubscribe in the app.
Why can I sign up for subscription on the app, but I can’t unsubscribe in the app? This is predatory behavior and makes unsubscribing difficult.

Used to be great
Strava was a great app. Unfortunately they have made it expensive and taken away things in the free version they used to allow. I can no longer recommend Strava unfortunately.
Not working well
I’ve been using this app for years now and occasionally it won’t record accurately. This happened yesterday so I deleted and downloaded the app again, there was no update available. That didn’t seem to help because the same issue is happening this morning, I’m not interacting with the app however I am using my phone for other purposes that don’t involve location or tracking activities. If this continues, I will start looking for another recording app.

I used to love using the Strava app. It brings together all of my workout sources in one cohesive place. Between gifts and my own wallet, I have paid for the premium option until recently. Once you use this app without the subscription, they will remind you of it on EVERY SCREEN. It becomes overwhelming and takes away from the experience. STRAVA- WE KNOW YOU HAVE PREMIUM FEATURES. STOP PUSHING IT IN OUR FACES.
Removed some stuff
It used to be you could see the heatmaps, the segments, and some other stuff without paying. Now it's another damn subscription.
Public Profiles Only
If you’re set to private, you should not be allowed to participate in public challenges. Like almost everyone in the top 10 for distance for example is “private.”
