Disappointed, buggy
Subscribed to PRO for multiple years. App is fairly straightforward but ultimately doesn’t offer much. Essentially it allows you to build workouts into templates using their library of exercises (templates are limited to 3 unless you sign up for PRO).
Past that, it tallies metrics (how much you’ve completed of your workout, what that ends up being in pounds, running tally of total workouts). Syncs with Apple Watch with varying degrees of success.
Ultimately cancelled membership and deleted app for two reasons:
-There are better apps that offer better data tracking and customization for free. Ultimately the limitations of Strong and its ability to show what it’s actually done with your data are what got me to quit it. Don’t even bother with Strong PRO
-For what little it did track (in this case, workout tallies), the app inexplicably stopped syncing (and this is from someone who only uses their phone). I lost 6 months of data without any reason, and it’s not recoverable

Regret.
This is one of those apps that I genuinely regret spending money on and waiting for them to improve or add features from their roadmap, that still haven’t appeared years later.
I just launched the Apple Watch app, now I have to sign in on the Apple Watch app as if it’s some completely disconnected thing from my phone, I use a password manager and my password is about 16 digits long, common letters, capital letters, numbers, and special characters, that I have to type manually on the tiny Apple Watch screen.
Even when using iOS keyboard to type, I can’t copy and paste the password.
I mean, who the hell designed an app where you have to enter a password and a username on a 40 millimeter screen.
The app is supposed to be a companion app, it’s like every other fitness company can get this figured out, but these guys.

Terrible Apple Watch connection
What do you mean I have to start my workout on my watch for I to see my progress there? Literally every other workout app allows you to start it for the phone and then continue seeing your progress on the watch app
Absolute Fkn Garbage
App used to be great. Had everything you needed and made getting the pro version a good investment. Now they’ve just been screwing it up for the past few months. Constant sync issues every workout. Constant glitching, freezing, and clashing. Failing to track workouts. The workout I had yesterday wasn’t recorded at all in my history despite have completed it and refreshed multiple times on my watch. Last week the app even completely deleted my entire workout and all of the values I had for it after I finished the workout. Don’t know what the hell the devs have been doing to make improvements when all it’s done is make things worse.
Update: App is completely irredeemable now. Cant even go ten minutes into my work out before I get sync issues with my Apple Watch. I spend probably 15 minutes out of my already 3 hour workout just fixing the mismatch. Only reason I put up with this is for the convenience of having my workout on my watch, but since that’s petty much ruined, I might as well switch to another app.

Good app, but greedy
The app itself is good, with lots of workouts to pick. It even lets you set templates… for a price of course. Yet another subscription service for a workout app of all things. No thanks, I already have a million monthly subscriptions, I’m not paying you monthly for a glorified notes app
Ai puts STRONG to rest
I’ve wrestled with the thought of buying Strong’s monthly or one time subscription. I realized I could have Ai write me an app with all the same features and more custom to my needs and it does it for free. Once people realize this, Strong will have to get rid of fees or lose customers. It’s not IF but more so WHEN.
Sexism embedded in graphic design
Why are all of your icons depicting different weightlifting exercises drawn as men? There is a minority of icons that are depicting a feminine body and the icons with this body type significantly skew toward depicting ab exercises and the cable/band versions of exercises. Do better.
Can’t sync with Apple Watch
I did a lot of research and review of all the different workout tracking apps, and this one looks to be the simplest and best based on the reviews. The only problem is, I can’t get it to sync with my Apple Watch.. I want it to log the workouts I’m doing on my Apple Watch like swimming, treadmill and rowing. The troubleshooting notes are very complicated and I can watch in the app to sync
Unable to create templates with Pro subscription
I’ve been using Strong PRO for a couple years now, but today I realized that I can no longer create new templates. I just keep getting redirected to the purchase page, even after confirming that my current subscription is valid until August. Very frustrating and disappointing.
Pain to sign in on watch
I’m signed into the phone app but the watch app is making me sign in separately. Shouldn’t it auto sign into the watch app? My password is too long and difficult to type in
Also after MULTIPLE more failures I figured out the issue - the username is case-sensitive! Which is ridiculous, it absolutely should not be

Workout Timer / Duration
No longer properly syncs with Apple Health after this “6.0” update. Developer doesn’t seem to care so I hope they enjoy their 1 star. 👎
Constant Apple Watch Sync Issues
I’ve had several workouts that just aren’t saved because the Apple Watch app is horrible. Using this app with the Apple Watch is incredibly frustrating, and has been for years.
Fix the syncing issues
I have been using this app since 2018 and I love the features but recently syncing my phone to my watch is a nightmare. Every workout I waste 15-20 minutes at the gym trying to get my watch to the home page. I’ve restarted my watch and reinstalled the app on the daily. Please fix this
Needs Live Activity in Dynamic Island
Update: uninstalled and went with Hevy. Shame because I bought a lifetime subscription so I’m throwing money out the window but this is such a critical feature. Over a year and they never built Dynamic Island and lock screen access. This is a huge miss.
----
The app is generally quite good. The problem is it doesn’t have Live Activity (it doesn’t show up on the Lock Screen or up at the top of the screen in the background during your workout). That means if you’re doing something else with your phone there’s no easy way to get back to your workout. You need to find the app manually again which is a big hassle if you read or whatever between sets.
I contacted the developer back in May and they said they were working on it, but haven’t heard anything since then. I’m downgrading to three stars until then.

Needs Garmin Access
I love the app but I love my watch more. I will be changing to a different one until they decide to unlock garmin capabilities
Has all of the potential, but none of the consistency
I want to love this app. But I just don’t. It is easy enough to use and build workouts. However, the UI and Sync fail frequently, making tracking your workouts and progress to be nearly impossible.
5 of my last 7 workouts synced and recorded…or so it showed. But when i opened the app the following day, my prior workout was no where to be found.
Not a good look or an app that will be around for much longer unless changes are made.

Does this not sync to Strava… or any other app?
Seems to lack 3rd party connections. None of my workouts show up elsewhere. The app itself is good. But the lack of 3rd party connections is troubling… I guess I’ll be looking for something else. It connects to apple health but apple health is a joke so, yeah this app itself would be great if the work outs showed up on the place where I look at all my workouts lol. I’ll update this review if they fix this…
Watch integration problems
The watch integration has a mind of its own and will not shut down.
Was great until timer was changed
Prior to a recent update, the timer was a simple value, and able to updated in it’s own window for each exercise.
Now that it’s been added to editable values right underneath each set, it has caused many glitched and requires carefully not fat fingering it when editing rep values. It’s a single change that’s caused many headaches. I can no longer rate 5 stars when changes like this are implemented for (now) over a year and no care to revert or improve it.

Search is trash
The search function is stupidly restrictive
If i want to log my incline press and i search up “dumbbell incline press” nothing will show up
the correct way to search it up is “incline dumbbell bench press”
everyone and their mothers would know what I wanted to log. The algorithm or search engine is so specific for no reason.
if i search up “cable lateral raise “ i get nothing
I gotta be specific and say” Lateral raises (cable)” like seriously? it’s better to log in your notes app

Very Limited
The app helps you track your workouts, but the exercise library is very limited, and you can’t add pictures or instructions to the exercises you create. Also, random glitches make the app frustrating to use at times. I’ve only been using the app for a few weeks and I’m already looking for an alternative.
The workout app field is expanding rapidly and Strong is getting left behind.
I’m quickly finding that there’s no perfect workout app. There’s always a these things are great or improvements over this app…but…and the “but” is the key because it comes down to which app is offering the trade offs you’re willing to live without?
My frustration with Strong is we are still dealing with syncing issues between the Apple Watch and the iPhone. The whole purpose of starting and ending workouts on the Watch was supposed to be to minimize these issues yet I still find I’m having increasingly more issues with ghost workouts - workouts started and ended on Apple Watch but instead of syncing they go into workout purgatory only to show up after you log out and log back in. If this wasn’t as frequent as it occurs it may be something you could deal with occasionally but it’s not.
Secondly, when you create exercises, you’re unable to assign body parts to them after saving them initially. Even if you go to the exercise library and edit them there. Additionally there’s no way to add photos. I beta test a lot of workout apps and this is one place where people are smoking Strong. Here’s why this matters: Strong doesn’t have a lot of common gym exercises in the library. So when you create them that means they also won’t have images or instructions on how to do them. Meanwhile Strong is starting to feel very Windows XP in a Windows 11 world. This is also seen in the charts and graphs which seem flat and dated versus many newer apps offer richer charts and data presentation.
Likewise, there’s no options for having Strong enforce progressive overload which is something you’re seeing in more and more apps where they automatically boost or recommend boosting your weight on your next workout. This is great for people starting out on their fitness journeys that aren’t as familiar with these kinds of things. Not everyone is dedicated enough to watch hours of YouTube videos to figure them out.

So so
Not as good as it used to be this is more cumbersome forced me to sign up for an account that made no improvements to the version I had before I’m not a flighty user I have over 2050 workouts using this app.
