SuperChinese - Learn Chinese

I’ve been a long-time user and generally love this app, but I’m very disappointed with the recent design changes. The new animations and transitions feel unnecessary and distracting. For example, when I tap the translate icon, I used to get the English translation instantly. Now there’s an animation that adds a delay, which becomes frustrating when combining multiple lessons.
The new “waving” recording animation is another example-it might look fun, but when I’m learning a difficult language, I don’t want relaxing or flashy effects. I need focus, immersion, and efficiency. These movements actually make it harder to memorize words and sentences.
If possible, I wish there were an “on off option” to enable or disable all the shiny distractions.

The service is great but the app is fundamentally poorly functional in a couple ways that are extremely frustrating, especially for a paid service. The app uses phone instead of media volume, so when you use headphones the volume is completely out of your control and will play even if you have volume at 0. The audio will also play at max volume if you have headphone accommodations on in settings which is completely unusable. The app also will always send you to the top of a module even if you're partially through it. I find these issues absurd for a service that is so well developed in other ways and so frustrating that I cancelled my subscription.

It’s a good app but when I go pronounce words it makes the other half of the word always wrong. I spent 15 minutes on trying to pronounce the word “jìxù” and it kept saying I got it wrong even though I didn’t.
