Not working with Siri
Please fix the bug, or add code such that navigation can be started with Siri command in CarPlay mode. This is available in other free apps.

Horrible app lacks fundamental features.
The fact that I cannot search my saved locations, and I have no alphabetical shortcut is just inexcusable. It is so frustrating when I have to scroll all the way through my locations to get something that is lower in the alphabet. How hard is it to add alphabetical shortcut to the list? I've emailed them, I've sent feedback, everything. The only thing this company cares about is getting your money. Unfortunately, it's one of the few GPS apps out there that has off-line maps and they have all of my locations saved at this point. It'd be really great if they joined the rest of the decade and got their stuff together.
WORST NAVIGATION EVER! DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Sends you in wrong direction or circles the destination taking longer than necessary. Half the time it won’t even activate to start the drive. Also lists completely wrong streets.

The GPS is off. This morning it told me to keep right, then make a left turn as I was passing through the intersection. Sorry I spent $39 on this garbage.

Misleading Subscription & Poor Customer Support
I purchased a 12-month subscription to TomTom GO Navigation via their official website, expecting full access to navigation features, including truck routing.
After purchasing, I used the truck navigation without issues, but later, TomTom suddenly removed access and demanded an additional €80 for truck navigation, despite their own advertising and UI indicating it was part of my subscription.
Customer support has been completely unhelpful and refuses to escalate the case. They repeatedly send copy-paste responses, ignoring clear evidence that their advertising was misleading. Instead of addressing the issue, they insist I should have known Truck Navigation was separate-despite no clear disclaimer on their website.

They won’t fix live traffic issues NY
Don’t get this if you drive on Long Island New York. There is no live traffic information being reported to TomTom for the entire 71 mile stretch of the Long Island Expressway both east and westbound for over a year. I’ve opened many tech support tickets, supplied pictures and video of the issue. I’ve also sent pictures of google maps next to TomTom while navigating to show TomTom is not reporting traffic on the Long Island Expressway. It also directs to the HOV lane even when the avoid carpool lane is active in settings. They will not fix it, they don’t care.

This map app doesn’t know it’s a GPS app. No location called Orlando, Florida. Trying to get directions and every destination I enter it says No Results Found.

NOW THE WORST GPS APP
TomTom was a great GPS app however lately it has not been showing up traffic on the GPS even though I’ve been paying for it for a while. So frustrating that it’s taken me into heavy traffic and caused me being late so many times. I’m currently sitting in bumper to bumper traffic thanks to this app. I’m definitely going with something else and cancelling my subscription.
UPDATE: No traffic is displayed on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) all the way from Suffolk County to Brooklyn. This is for both ways.

Subscription
I bought the subscription on an iPhone and it worked well. My problem is I switched to an an android phone. I downloaded the app, signed in my account and it says there is no active subscription. I paid for a year plan less than a month ago and now I can’t use it!! The chat bots give advice that doesn’t work and I can’t find a way to contact a person. It says you can use more than one device but I can’t even switch.

This used to be my go to app for long trips. It would reroute me around problem areas. Now it will just direct me into a random neighborhood along the route. I have used TomTom for iOS for as long as I can remember, but will now be unsubscribing and uninstalling. It is very sad.
Traffic is garbage
As I sad multiple times before. The traffic info isn’t reliable anymore. Today o8/14/2024 on I495 Long Island, crazy traffic incident. Tomtom is silent. 3 lines are closed. Nothing on the map. I will not pay $25 for this.
Never fix the actual problems, just rearrange things.
When I first got this app years ago there were many options. You could choose map colors, change the guidance icon from an arrow to various cars with different colors, plan a route with several stops and the stops would be numbered so you could tell where it was routing you first, second, and so on. It was the best GPS app. You paid one standard fee for North America and that was it. There wasn’t traffic updates but, it was awesome. Now after several updates, they changed the colors and you don’t have ANY option to change any colors. There is no option to change your guidance icon, if you plan a route with several stops, they are no longer numbered so you have no idea where it’s sending you first so you have to go into the route options and choose “reorder route” every time you plan one and route it yourself. Now there is a subscription model and, I get it, you make more money getting a subscription than you do if I buy the app once. You do get traffic updates now but there are so many more bugs since you “improved” the app with updates. Addresses change on you after they are entered if there are more than one stop. I have sent several emails to TomTom about this and have even sent in a video showing them the issues. Then they update the app and give you the new feature of not having your music level lowered during instructions. 🤦🏻♂️ Yeah, THAT has been a real problem. How about giving us some of those options back. I’d love to be able to change the color of my planed route, change the guidance icon or at least it’s color. When it’s the same at the route color, it blends in. I’d imagine people that are colorblind would be very appreciative to be able to have some contrast between route and icon. If you don’t want people to use your app and only want people to buy your stand alone GPS products, then remove your app from the App Store and just make standalone product. If you keep your app in the App Store, the least you can do is fix the bugs and give us some real options instead of music volume.

Great routing algorithm. Terrible data points and a terrible reporter tool
Customer support told me to use the Tomtom map share report tool to report problems. I have to resubmit pictures many times to get them to fix when I took good pictures. I even sent them screenshots of Google Maps and Open Maps when they had the right data to get them to fix Tomtom.
Whoever is responsible for the Tomtom Mapshare tool is very lazy and doesn't look up new changes to roads when they are reported in Mapshare when they can be easily verified on other platforms and government websites.

discontinued my old Tom Tom app
They discontinued my old Tom Tom app I paid almost $100 for and switched to a garbage subscription based app guess they need to milk all the money they can. After the bait and switch with their old app I will never buy another product of theirs again. Like the WEF says you will own nothing and be happy.
Can’t Be
I use Google Maps or Waze both which are free. I’ve had TomTom GPS and didn’t like them as well as Garmin so paying for this is a no go for me.
Map download times are hideous
Why does it take forever to download one state map?? No issues with other GPS aps. This one downloads at a snail’s pace -Update- no issue with phone, pending updates, or connected network.. the download of the maps from your server for some reason take forever to do

This is a waste of time and hard to use. Gets lost once you hit a big city.
Doesn’t work when you really need it
The app is horrible, will only load when you have cellular or WiFi connection. That is when I need it to work, when Waze or Google Maps are not available. Customer support is nonexistent, all they have is a useless chatbot, with no way to talk with a live person to resolve problems. Save your money.
Unreliable outside of cell phone service
I downloaded offline apps and travelled into an area outside the coverage area of my cell carrier. I was two days into the one week free trial. The app decided it needed a connection to verify my subscription right then and there and would not function until I got back into my cell network service area. I could not use my "offline maps" I downloaded since all the app would do is to display the message "No internet connection. Unable to show available subscriptions. Check your Internet connection and try again."

Bar none the worst nav app I’ve ever tried
Decided to give this another shot since you can plan routes on other devices and then bring them up on the phone and use through CarPlay. Really sorry I invested in it. First problem this trip: I planned the trip offline. It thought the best route was closed and routed onto the absolute worst road possible. I didn’t catch it when starting out. I can’t blame the app to mistake a road closure since the road had been closed in the past. Not a big issue EXCEPT when I continued on the correct route, the app just froze. In fact, freezing is basically all the app does. I ended the route and had the app program the route fresh. Seemed ok until I got into a city. Next problem hit. Many roads had been blocked for some event. So had to go off the route plan or run through road blocks. The apps response? Freeze up. I pulled over and brought up Waze to get me out of the problem. Then had to end the route on TomTom and reprogram for the destination. Went OK until the next problem. I pulled off the route a hundred yards or so for gas.pulled back up to the main road to get back on track but the app tried to insist I turn the wrong way, backtrack and make a u turn. Killed the route again and programmed the end point instead of backtracking. I wanted to use this app because it had full local maps and didn’t rely on a cell connection but, frankly, it is dangerous and a horrible waste of money.
Not For Truckers
This app is horrible for commercial truck routing even though it is advertised as such. It will tell me to NOT take the roads I’m required to take and instead tell me to take the roads I’m not allowed on. Including telling me I’m not allowed on roads that lead directly to truck stops!! Eg Love’s Hillsboro, TN and a lot of roads in Minnesota. It does not show distance to rest areas. No satellite imaging to help with finding entrances to warehouses. When it comes to commercial truck drivers this app is a waste of money.

WOW!! I just got screwed paying for this app. This app isn’t even usable unless you download maps of everywhere you might want to go. I thought I’d try it out on a trip across 7-8 states, but I don’t want to fill my phone up with gigabytes of maps. What a horrible waste of time and money!

This is what we get for buying a $120 app?
I bought the TomTom US Canada app for over $100 and not too long after i purchased, support for it was dropped and taken off the appstore to be replace by this micro transaction garbage.
Youd think the company would be loyal to the customers that got them where they are. I should get a lifetime membership to this app for purchasing the previous app at such a hefty price, & just for it just to be discontinued.
Shame on this company for throwing away its only loyal customer base, especially when there are better alternatives that come installed with a brand new iphone. Theyll see this failed after trying to hop on micro transactions when there are FREE alternatives.

This app is made just to steal your money I paid a year subscription and the app can't even see my location and when you search for an address you won't find any results so do yourself a favor save your money and find something else to use the map is just blank like really!!!

I have been at TomTom user since the early days of the company, using various standalone GPS units over the years and now mainly using the app on an iPhone. Early May, 2026, TomTom did an update, this Update rendered a good majority of users. Unable to access routes and saved places as of May 8. Some people report they have access to either routes or save places some to both. From what I am reading, it is still a major outage continuing to cause problems for many users.

Truck routing is not that great. It makes odd choices that don’t always make sense. it would also be nice to get route choices like copilot truck gps does, you get up to three routes when it calculates a route. But it’s mostly it’s questionable routing choices that made me not renew and stick with copilot.

Feels a decade old
I was hoping to find an alternative to the standard map apps, as I won’t use Google and Apple Maps has become progressively less usable (just try to navigate pins and saved places across platforms!), so I was willing to pay a well-known third party to try their navigation in CarPlay. Unfortunately this isn’t it. The maps seem ok, and the interface has some interesting elements - like a progress bar to your destination with distance to gas stations (although how often do you need that to be a permanent map element?) - but the voicing for turn by turn is atrocious compared to Siri and the Google voice. The “computer” voices that can announce street names talk in a stilted manner circa 2010 and even mispronounce simple common street names like “Whatever Ave” (“Whatever ayve”). There’s also no mention of live traffic rerouting, though I guess it’s possible it exists, and no browser or desktop-based companion. What I really want is simply to be able to create my own routes like you’ve been able to do forever using drag and drop in Google Maps desktop, then sync those specific routes to your phone. Oh well, back to Apple Maps I go, and hope that it can eventually clean up the pinned locations and sync the desktop and mobile apps properly. And, maybe, someday allow me to just make my own routes without clunky waypoints.

Great navigation, terrible design
Why do you nag daily for me to navigate? I don’t drive daily, and considering you get the sub money whether I drive or not, the notifications make little sense and make me want to delete the app. Also the maps miss a lot of FL development roads in Naples.
A solid app but very dated UI
Every year I patiently wait for a UI update and I remove a star.
Overall, this is still a useful app, but the user interface is very dated (it hasn’t been truly updated since the middle of 2020, and the free TomTom AmiGO app is much more modern). Additionally, the lack of voice search for points of interest is more than inconvenient (having to pull over to search means switching to another app 99% of the time), especially while driving.
That said, I still appreciate the route bar, and the map, traffic data, and navigation in the US are reliable. I hope that, since Apple Maps and other companies rely on TomTom services, this app will receive a significant update soon.

Going downhill and Amigo has much better routes
I have been using TomTom for decades and the routing engine is starting to makes less and less sense. I plugged in a destination tonight with no interstates with winding and the route was dull and completely nonsensical. It had me hopping on and off the highway (not an interstate) for short distances for no particular reason. It was also unable to plot any other route with find alternative. Amigo (which is free) with the equivalent settings plotted three beautiful routes that made perfect sense and offered up some of the best roads in the area. It really makes me question why I am paying for Go.
