I’ve used Tophy for a while, and it used to be a social discovery app: fun, conversational, and balanced. Recently, though, the platform seems to have shifted heavily toward monetized interactions, especially involving sexual content and paid access to chats, calls, and sexual-themed features.
The biggest concern is a clear imbalance in how features are enabled by default. Female accounts automatically receive options to charge money for video calls, phone calls, and content, while male accounts do not have the same configuration available. If accurate, this is a gender-based feature limitation, which raises questions around fairness, equality, and potentially discrimination. A platform that serves a diverse community shouldn’t restrict earning or feature access based on gender alone.
If the app intends to be adult-content-focused, that should be made extremely clear up front. If the goal is connection, conversation, and meeting new people, then the current structure leans too far into pay-to-interact dynamics and makes the experience inequitable.
I hope the developers reconsider this direction. Equal access to monetized features for all users, regardless of gender, would make Tophy feel more ethical, transparent, and enjoyable again. Until then, it’s hard to recommend the app the way I once did.

Banned with no reason
I was banned from this app and not given a reason why, or a chance to plead my case to them (still don’t know what I did)

Waste of money. The discover tab shows the same 10 people over and over.

Pornography
This app is filled with foreign girls wanting you to pay them for naked pictures and “fun”. This app should be restricted off of the App Store immediately and this developer investigated for sex trafficking as multiple users are far under aged. Gross.
Sending fake messages as me
Hey, I would really appreciate it if you guys would stop sending fake messages as me to other people especially things that are leading to meeting in person or sexually. Happy to change my review if you turn that off and stop sending messages to people as me.

Absolutely awful!!
I used to really enjoy using this app, but everything changed when I stopped receiving messages. I discovered that my profile was flagged for suspicious activity due to the selfies I posted. I mean, come on, they’re just selfies! Now I can’t send or receive messages, and this app has become absolute garbage!!
Definitely a market for something better than this
They don’t do anything about bots. They will mark a real account as suspicious and it takes an act of Congress to get it fixed. You can’t post suggestive pics (not even full nudes or a thing, but any cleavage and it gets taken down). And now, the app won’t even open. Really not worth the effort.

If I could leave negative stars I would. This app is so strict and limits even mentioning their sister app Lovense in chat. They will ban you for that. Horrible video and audio quality and a lot of bots. I love the concept but hate how its executed in this app.

It used to be a decent app where adults could connect and have fun with their toys. Now it’s all about pay to play. It’s a waste of time.

Must allow a lot of things for this app to work. It is what it is. It’s a glorified cam sex app. Women set a cost (or have the option to set a cost) for a phone call stream based on time or set a cost for a video stream that you get to connect with them. Men don’t get that option to set a cost for either of these options. Interesting in itself but I guess it makes sense, they just do not like the use of VPN because they’re clowns 🤡 In order for this to pass the sniff test by Apple you pay for gold, $40 is 4K/5k gold, an audio phone call is usually ~100gold & a video call is ~200 gold. Most of the women on the app are from the Philippines, China, Russia and a small scattering of Ukrainian or German, a lot say they are from the US. You can decide for yourself if you think they want to be on this app themselves. But they also will record the phone calls or video calls regularly, for totally not nefarious things. Truly surprising Apple hasn’t cracked down on this but 🤷♂️

This app is filled with fake accounts. As soon as you sign up you are bombarded with messages from a lot of profiles, all of which have the exact same message. You have to pay to video chat with people or to use filters in your searches. Do not waste your time or money on this app

Great App for Bots & Scammers
If you love getting hit up by non-stop bots and scammers, then this is the app for you! If you want to report those same bots and scammers and get an IMMEDIATE reply from Tophy that the account in question is neither a bot nor a scammer (the incredible speed with which they conduct a thorough investigation in less that 3 seconds!), then you’ll love this app.

Good idea - bad execution
If you report someone, you instantly receive an automated message saying they aren’t doing anything. Despite being set as lesbian it keeps showing men by default until you select the already selected preference again. A lot of fakes and limited filtering for preferences. Chats constantly fail to send and you are forced to close the app and reopen it to send messages.
Used to be great.
It has been monetized beyond means, it used to be an adult sex app for online sex stuff, with toys and talking and pictures. Now it’s super extremely kid friendly.

After a few attempts to reach the creator I’m going with the classic one star - too many fake profiles, the app itself sends notifications for messages that don’t exist. Sick of the clutter, sick of the false notifications.

This app should be removed from the Apple Store. It does not function properly. It’s full of spammers and scammers. I deleted it almost as soon as I opened it. It will not allow for anything outside of the heterosexual experience. It became discriminatory not long after it was updated. The app crashes. And is mostly useless unless you decide to give them your money. And then it still doesn’t work properly. This is a poor example of an application. Apple needs to remove it sooner than later.

This app has LOADS and loads fake accounts and scammers/bots. I’m a male & It is sooo hard to find actual people to chat with. I mainly use it to find control links. Besides that, there would be no reason for me to have this.

Gay men can’t match anymore
Recent update functionally blocked gay men from being able to find other gay men. Vibe park only shows women, suggested matches are all women, my explore page is only straight men. It was a really good app until this update, now it’s pretty much useless.
Wish I could give zero stars
I was only able to use this app for a few days before my account was flagged and I was banned without warning. I can no longer communicate with the people I had made connections with and I can’t create a new account because my toy is linked to the first blocked account. A terrible app and no support to help.
Nothing but scammers
Aside from getting propositioned for gift cards in exchange to interactions, this app is about as useless as they come. I’m surprised Lovense still lists it on their site. I’ve watched this app degrade into a transphobic mess with no moderation on the part of the devs. Their answer is to just remove the general chat feature. They do nothing to remove scammers. If I could give negative starts I would.
Refresh for links
Why would you remove the only EASY way to refresh for anonymous links? You could hit the button at the bottom and it would refresh. Now you have to swipe down constantly or hit the filter buttons to refresh. Adding an extra step or doing the same repetitive motion of swiping. This makes the app harder to use. Rather than tapping the singular button to refresh. It’s hard enough getting a link due to the speed required. Now it’s next to impossible. I prefer the random encounters.
Ruined
The last update they put out removed the vibe park, the carrying feature on the app. It also put previously free features behind a paywall. Theres no easy way to connect with people anymore. App is dryer than a desert right now…
Fake profiles
Most of the profiles on this website are fraudulent, or fake. People are using these pictures claiming that they are the person in the photo. This site is extremely misleading, and is based on trying to scam you for money, phones, gift cards, etc. I communicated with three separate women, all of whom claimed they were the person in the photo, when really they turned out to be from a foreign country, it could not speak English. Google translator, it certainly can work wonders for these people. If you have any sense at all, you will stay away from this terrible site.
App is now useless
They’ve ruined this app by removing its best feature. Vibe park is now replaced with a pay to play model. No more ability to randomly find people to play with. It’s now all control links from Lovense app and there’s never anyone around to play.
Unequal, imbalanced, but has potential
It’s a good app that takes the social aspect of the classic remote app and expands it into a social and dating adjacent app. Like all dating adjacent apps, there are more men than there are women, and given the adult nature of the app and it’s niche market in comparison to edating giants, a very good number of these women are not real. <br />A problem that it shares with the remote app is the number of people who are attempting to use the app to run sex work scams - accounts using other people’s photos and directing you to other websites from their profile or from messaging you in order for you to pay them. While technically this is against Lovense and Tophy’s terms of service, there is not a lot of moderation on this app (I’m willing to offer my services, feel free to reach out), and a recent update allows for women - and only women - to be paid credits by Tophy that can be converted into real money. <br />While both men and women have the option to purchase in-app currency called coins which Tophy wants you to use to make video calls, only women earn these credits for how long they talk to men and are able to convert the credits into real currency. <br /> Similarly, the app has a feature called “Vibe Park” where you were once able to have quick match with active users, sometimes anonymously, similarly to leaving a control link somewhere and waiting. However with a recent update, you are not allowed to play with each other for free anymore, and must pay a certain number of in-app currency per minute in order to use this feature that was once free. <br /> Tophy does have a 3-tiered verification system. You can chat as an unverified person but you cannot play. Face-verified is self explanatory. Toy-verified means they own the toy they have registered, and toys cannot be unregistered from one account to switch it to another account in order to reduce catfishing. However, you will rarely see an account that is face-verified - if an account is face-verified and toy-verified, only the “toy-verified” badge will appear next to their name. This means that while the other account most likely owns the toy that is connected to their account, you cannot be as certain about their photos. <br /><br /> Tophy was not supposed to be a literal paid escort app, but that seems to be the direction that the developers want to take in order to make a quick profit off of a userbase that is lonely and rather gullible.
Fake User
Women profiles are littered with fakes. You will see the same person in as many as 10 profiles. Many of the profile pics are fakes taken from the web, many being celebrities or porn stars. Most women want to take you to an alternate app to hustle you for money. The site creator should do a better job of filtering users. The site does have some innovative features, but member management needs improvement. It’s so bad that you can see the same person, same profile pics on 10 or more profiles. Many of the women use men names, like Albert. When ask about their name, they will change it. Totally fake accounts!
