Terrible Customer Support
Account was marked as spam and support refused to reinstate my account. Now, they made it even more difficult to get in touch with support if not impossible.

I pay enough money yearly to have access to this app. Get out of my way and let me play. Also, I was just in the middle of playing a song and right in the middle of the fret a dialog pops up, on top of the tab, asking me to rate the app! This app has literally one job: show me the tabs and leave me alone. I will cancel ASAP if I see one more survey asking me how my learning is going!
Paywalls are out of hand
I used to religiously use this app. It’s been some time since I’ve played so I redownloaded and the amount of forced paywalls to subscribe for a premium membership are ridiculous. After cancelling out about 10 screens I finally pulled up the song I wanted to play and you can’t even have the page SCROLL ANYMORE WITHOUT PAYING?!?!?!
So incredibly frustrating.
I understand it’s a free to download app but to strip away such basic functions unless you pay for a membership is frustrating beyond belief.

I paid for UG PRO a LONG time ago. Now when I want to open the app to se chords for a song, I have to click through 10 screens of them trying to sell or monetize so new feature that I’m not interested it. The worst part is they are not skippable. This is infuriating. If I could just get a refund and find another app for chords I would drop this one.

I hate the new update. Just let me find the songs and don’t try to sell me other products. STOP ASKING ME 20 QUESTIONS WHEN I OPEN THE APP. I PAID FOR THE APP YEARS AGO. STOP JUST STOP!
Surveys make me not want to use the app
Like others, I’m finding this app almost unstable due to the forced surveys every time the app is opened. Just an awful experience and inexcusable that they do this to paying customers
App started trying to charge me
I’ve been using the app for 4 months now and it was fine then it decided I needed to have a plan of some sort and wants to charge me money to hit a auto scroll button. I can just get everything for free somewhere else so Ultimate Guitar App is a trash app to me now.
Won’t let you look at tabs without paying
This is ridiculous. You can look up tabs on ultimate guitars website for free, but I downloaded the app and after a hundred stupid questions I finally typed in a song I wanted the tab for. NOPE. Every time I clicked the tab it just put up an offer to pay for premium version and when I clicked out it took me back to the lookup screen. I’m not paying ultimate guitar for what I get for free on Songsterr.

Everything i open this app I have to spend 5 minutes getting past ads, and “customizing my experience”.
Review
I subscribed to UGpro for?.$69.95. Now they say that when the trial period ends 7days it will be $99.99. Very misleading. They also say that I signed up for”lessons “ and songbook which book which I did not. They are either very disorganized or dishonest. This app is very difficult to navigate
Bad app
I’ve been paying for this app for years and every time I log on they try to make me upgrade and pay more. Stoked to give a one star. Thanks for the tabs.
Poor customer service
Had gotten the app last year. Somehow charge 90$ for a year prescription without agreeing to do so. Tried to contact customer service AND apple to get a refund immediately. Wasn’t too upset since I wanted to learn guitar but not for 90$. Ended up going to my account and finding out my account never got the subscription but I was charged for it. Never got a refund or heard back from either.
Doesn’t work
I paid for a subscription and the app keeps trying to sell me a subscription every time I try to look up chords. What did I pay for? Why can I not get my money back? Why was I not provided the features I paid for?
Pay so much just to keep getting ads and an unusable app
I pay an annual subscription and can’t open the app to play without going through literally ten freaking ads for some bs that I don’t want. It’s so greedy, especially to someone who already PAYS

Update: The developer’s response is ridiculous. Everyone has the same complaint and they give the same response with no change. I wish I could lower my rating below a one star.

This actually sucks
So I was so excited to play my favorite songs on the guitar so I got it and the login wasn’t working either so I had to figure that out too and then I couldn’t do anything because I had to get a $59 subscription for a year. Don’t let the reviews trick you please just get a better app.

Every time I open this app it has changed for the worse. I don’t need to complete a puzzle or answer 20 questions every time I’m inspired to learn a song. It’s like they hired the people who built the Temu app.

Refund please
I canceled my yearly subscription a day after I subscribed to a yearly subscription. It’s still trying to charge my card. Can y’all please not try to charge me anymore. I don’t want the subscription nor will I use it thanks.

I bought a “lifetime” subscription and it doesn’t save me from from upselling. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying. I’m not a child just learning - I want chord charts and that’s it.

There is no real free version of this app. Every single time I try to click on any song it redirects me to either: an ad for premium OR the Apple Store. I’ve never successfully been able to play any song for the 3 years it’s been on my phone taking up space. Deleting and finding their competitors

Stop forcing me to engage with your advertisements when I open the app. There is no bypass. I dont appreciate the ads when I’m paying an annual subscription. Renewal is coming up. I have to rethink this subscription.

used to be a great app but now every time i open it theres unstoppable, annoying surveys and discount code promos that make me want to delete the app. it takes a over a minute before i can even get to the home screen.

The musical content is fab. The lame personalization questions I’m forced to answer every time I open the app- which include having to try to figure out how not to repay my annual subscription fee, are a total boner killer. I already pay yearly. I just want to go straight to the chord charts. Figure it out.
They are ruining this app
This app used to be great, you could play your song on Apple Music and it would transfer to guitar tabs in the app. Then they got rid of it, and you have to search for this song now. Now they took away options to even play music with the app open. I’ll be deleting this app soon.
Sign of the Times. Don’t Bother
The easiest way to get me to never open your app again is to cram ads down my throat at every turn. This is exactly my experience with this application. Ironically, it actually discourages me from practicing when I have to fight through several pop-ups for your adaptive AI “training program” every time I open the app, ads when I open a new tab, ads when I close a tab, ads when I open my list of saved tabs, everything. It’s a buggy mess as well- for example, most songs have a youtube link embedded, which won’t actually play because there is an ad playing audio in the middle of the tab that takes priority over the music video. The ad even takes priority over streaming apps like Spotify if you just play it there instead. I see there are several negative reviews written on this subject every single day. When will you listen to your community? There will be a day when the money stops flowing and no one will be using your app. What will you do then?
Fraudulent Charges
I canceled my ‘free’ trial but this app has tried to charge me $79.99 almost daily for weeks now. I’ve reached out for help but have not received adequate support. I have deleted my account, I deleted the app, made sure my ‘trial’ was canceled. Yet the app is STILL trying to charge me. My card is linked to my Apple account so now I can’t download any other apps without updating payment info and letting this app charge me for services I never requested nor agreed to pay for. I am requesting help through this review. Further attempts to charge me will result in reporting to BBB, etc.
I am sick of you trying to sell me more
I paid way too much for this app years ago and every time I use it I have to click through your ads and questions to “personalize” it. Just leave me and the app alone, and let me use it as intended.

Stupid survey
When I open the app I have to retake a survey asking about my talent level, if I use a capo, etc. I’ve taken the same survey several times. I cannot dismiss it. It is very annoying. Other reviewers point this out, and the developer responds with a line about how the surveys help improve user experience. If they cared at all about user experience though they would eliminate the surveys.

I Paid For A Year Subscription and Can’t Access The App
I give it one star because I can’t even use it. I paid for a yearly subscription, but every time I try to use it, I’m prompted to pay for a new subscription. I tried “Restore my Purchases.” That doesn’t work. I tried signing in and signing out. That doesn’t work. I tried deleting my account and signing back in. That didn’t work. I tried contacting support. It wasn’t accessible. So they took my money, but won’t give me the content. I feel cheated.

Content is good; hate the app
I hate this app. Every time I get a new device, I have to access all of these questions before I can just sign in. Do better

This app is so frustrating to use for a few reasons. First, it’s quite unstable. Often when opening tabs (especially multi-instrument official tabs), the app will freeze so I’ll just go through the browser to avoid the pain. Second, I often open the app to look at tabs and it bombards me with questions to “personalize” my experience. I don’t see a way to skip these questions and it’s asked me the same… questions… so… many… times. Finally, I sometimes have to remind myself that I pay for this app because the upselling is so aggressive, like a freemium app. I only keep this app because some of the official tabs are legitimately fantastic transcriptions with a lot to teach. Hopefully someone else will put a better app out there for viewing transcriptions of famous songs and I will no longer need to use this one.
