Unnecessary vendor lock-in
Any company asking you to use this instead of any open standard (RFC 6238) TOTP authenticator like Google or Microsoft’s implementations is suffering from delusions of competency. There are ways to still use a standard implementation, but the UX of setting that up is a high barrier to non tech-savvy users. Ask for full FIDO2 support and use a yubikey for real security.

I would like this app better if I could move left or right or quit the app however no amount of 1,2 or 3 finger swipes move the app. No way to quit or move this app from the menu. Latest IOS version installed as of 2/19/26

15 minutes later, phishing texts
I’m not sure I trust this app, after 15 minutes, I started receiving phishing text and scam calls about 2FA Google authenticator, which I have not received before. This is semantic they’re supposed to protect your information, not pass it out freely
No action on tap notification
I’m getting authentication requests on push notifications, however while tapping on push notifications it’s open app but not showing authentication pop up in recent versions

Convenient but very unreliable
Not having to type in the OTP is convenient when it works but most of the time there is either no popup in app even when a notification was received
Abomination
This app is an abomination that shouldn’t exist, and companies that force its use should be ashamed of themselves. VIP Access is nothing more than a proprietary wrapper around TOTP, a widespread standard, and it makes the experience worse in every single way.
How to break a simple app
It has only one simple purpose, generate an OTP and let you copy it to another app. Recent updates manage to break this by changing the copy from a simple click to a press and hold (which adds 2 or more seconds to the workflow). E*Trade doesn’t have push so this is the only option to copy the code
Still no credentials
I am still missing my credentials, and no one seems to be helping me. I either talk to people who don't speak English, or no one responds to my emails. This is the second week I have been going through this.

Impossible to “copy”
The latest update is horrible. It’s impossible to copy the number to past into the other app. This is useless. I’m removing the Symantec MFA feature from my investment account. How stupid.
New update lost functionality
With the newest update, you can no longer tap and hold to copy. This used to work as you have to copy and paste the 6 digit code when logging into Fidelity. Now I have to manually type the code since I can’t copy from VIP Access. Fail.

Cannot Copy Code
With the new update, you cannot copy the code. This is annoying with no security benefit. I hate that I am required to use this app instead of the MFA app of my choice on a trading platform.
Copy / Paste Broke
Seems like this app only needs to do two things: generate the two factor code and let you copy it out. They broke the copy in the latest release. Can we fix this please? Manually typing it on is error prone. Copy / paste needs to work again.

You can’t even copy the code from this app, so it requires that I memorize the number and switch back to whatever is asking for the 2FA.

Taking off the copy feature was probably one of the most brain dead things your PM’s could have suggested

Pressing on the code number on screen does not copy it so you can paste into other app to log in

Horrid app. Apparently my work decided it would help us be secure to use this wretched thing. I didn’t actually notice a problem until I upgraded my phone (it was time.)

Then I keep reading and I was apparently supposed to migrate the app BEFORE my old phone factory reset. Nobody ever told me and now it’s too late. Here’s hoping my security admin can do something. It could also NOT be built stupid to begin with.

Takes about a minute for a request to show up. This is to long of a time to just be staring at my screen waiting.
Why?
I know that you as a consumer reading this have no say, but nobody should ever choose this as their 2FA method, and I hope the low rating will deter decision-makers at companies.
Horrible app
So, I got a new phone and wiped everything out on my old phone. Apparently I cannot migrate to this new device because I don’t have the old phone to get the QR code to scan for the migration. This poorly designed app is giving me that problem, without providing an alternative recourse.
I hate being forced to use a custom TOTP app
This app does TOTP, similar to Google Authenticator, but works in a weird way that makes it incompatible with other TOTP apps. I wish I could use a generic TOTP app so that I can use the same app for everything. Instead, Schwab forces this dumb app onto its customers.
Very nearly unusable
This is truly the worst authenticator I have ever encountered. If I don’t catch the push notification that someone is trying to sign in and just open the app instead, it simply does not give me to option to verify that it’s me. I have to close the app, turn off do not disturb, send it again, open it from the push notification, and hope the app doesn’t freeze. I’m in awe that the company I work for uses this.
Straight Garbage
If you get a new phone, apparently this app, and ONLY this app, no other app, needs special treatment. You have to scan your old phone with your new one to move and delete your data. If you don’t know about this before resetting or returning your old phone? Good luck. You can never use VIPAccess correctly again! Even with moving iCloud data, this app (and this app alone) will not recognize you no matter what you do. I’m now locked out of social media accounts AND MY OWN JOB. Forever. That’s awesome, thanks so much.

Terrible app and security
This app is supposed to be used for several of my financial institutions. The problem is that the key and seed for the app are generated per DEVICE instead of per service. This is absolutely mind boggling and insecure. What is the purpose of having a security key duplicated across different services? Any institution using this as 2FA should be embarrassed and switch to standard TOTP

It is mind blowing to me that an app that is often used for financial institutions didn’t even bother to use Face ID or a passcode to access the app. If someone steals your phone, they can easily get the code. Absolutely unforgivable. Whoever is in charge of this lack of security needs to be fired.

No reason to not let us tap on the X or Checkmark, instead forcing us to swipe for no good reason whatsoever.

This app is garbage, the codes don’t even work when you out them in I put in the right code 3 times in a row and it still didn’t work then after the fourth time it locks me out of my BANK ACCOUNT when I about to pay off my credit card. Now I have to wait to call my bank to fix all of this. Thanks a lot VIP access! You deserve the worst app on the App Store award for sure.
Only use if you DO NOT want access to your money
My financial institution uses this security app and I unfortunately used it to secure my bank accounts. After I upgraded my cell phone, the app would not recognize the new phone and resulted in a 30 day lockout of all my accounts. The financial institution says they have no way to override or fix the lockout and that I just have to wait 30 days. The 30 days is up and the app still prevents me from accessing my accounts and there is not a single technical person at my financial institution that knows how to fix the problem. If I want to access my accounts (and I mean even just log-in to check my balance or see what's been charged to my credit card), I can't. My recommendation is don't use this app!
