No option to switch to monthly, no prorated refund, and no mercy even if you cancel immediately. It’s a classic bait-and-switch.
In terms of content, is very basic. Just a simple dictionary that sends you hundreds of notifications. You definitely need to be advanced on the language, definitions use sentences with words hard to understand even if you’re intermediate, most of time I keep translating the words separately to confirm I got the meaning. Not very well thought out.

Watch Out Users!
Its a good app, unique, and literally makes learning alot easier. Honestly I would keep it for the right price but it was expensive for me.
BUT after I made sure and tripled check that I cancelled the free trial, they still charged me the $29.99
I am sure that I saw the "Inactive" label under my apple account subscriptions. Had to file for a dispute directly in my bank linked to my account.

I lost money trying the free trial
The free trial is only 3 days for the whole app. That’s fine. I deleted it on the third day right as it asked me if I wanted to sign up permanently. I said no. Two days ago, it tried charging the full $50 dollar amount to my account, but I didn’t have enough money, so I double checked, and it still didn’t look like I had the paid version and the payment. I tried canceling it with my bank, but since it never went through, they wouldn’t allow it. Today, I wake up to find they successfully took that $50 dollars. I have $13 dollars left. That was the only money I had for food until the 15th of this month, and I haven’t been able to replenish my pantry since March 19th. I am distraught and unsure of how I’m able to eat. I did everything correctly. I don’t understand why this app still took my money. I just want it back. Why is this app stealing from me? I cancelled it. It didn’t go through, and then it did.

Widget fail
The app wont work to let me add a widget. I dont know if it’s behind a paywall, but i certainly know how to add a widget. It sucks because the app seems interesting.

I honestly don’t understand how this app made it to the top. The interface is completely unintuitive, and there’s no separation by language proficiency levels. Beginners are given words I’ve never even seen before, even though I’ve been studying the language for several years. The functionality for creating collections is inconvenient. In the tests, there’s no “skip” button - you’re forced to guess. This app is not fit to exist at all, let alone charge money for it.

After doing all the work to setup the level, the app tells you that it is not free. What a waste of time and phones storage.
A misleading waste of time
This app’s design is intentionally deceptive, which is to say dishonest, in ways that lure users into having wasted their time unless they pay up. Seriously. If you’re going to entice people to take an assessment of their current ability, which requires an investment of their time, and you’re going to lock the results behind a subscription, then it is beyond disrespectful of people’s time to spring the subscription requirement on them only after they’ve invested their time completing the assessment! That is a fundamentally manipulative sales technique that relies on people’s reluctance to have wasted time that they’ve already spent. It’s a shameful approach to selling subscription to what might actually be a nice app. I was actually considering subscribing before that experience, but now it would just feel dirty.

This could be so good and educational for people. Think about those that haven’t had the proper education for no fault of their own but the system we are in. Paying to learn at this price level is not only frustrating but absurd. It’s sleek and looks nice but i’d rather open a dictionary close my eyes and point than pay $60 a year for an app to do this for me.

Used to be a great app, not so much now
Why does the developer seem desperate for you to open the app? What started as a thinly veiled attempt to get you to open the app via fake ⚠️urgent notification messaging⚠️ has now progressed into showing only an example of the word used in a sentence, now I’m forced to open the buggy app in order to find its meaning. This app had its issues and was at least tolerable before, but now it’s just annoying. What are you tracking? Why are you being manipulative? Uninstalled.

I love the app and i was using it time to time. Today it popped sth and suggested me take a test to find out my level. I solved a long test and the see result button took me to the payment page, it didn’t show me the result without paying first. I find it seriously bothering. Well, they have all the right to decide what to show with or without a payment and so do i to express my feelings. I hope someone who designed this strategy will hear these thoughts.

yeah its like every other greedy useless app. Wants you to pay a subscription for the most asinine flash cards and a basic widget. Not worth it.
Unnecessary
Disappointed in the sentences, language, sexual tones of this app. For example, the example used when explaining the word “wanton”. I may switch to another app over it. Love everything else, but there is definitely a tone that is unnecessary for this app.
too many bugs
the app constantly gives duplicate words, words that include collections of symbols, and scrolling in the app words will disappear when you move past them making it impossible to re read words occasionally. after only a few days using the app and experiencing such a collection of bugs is really frustrating

Honestly I think this about most learning educational experiences.I feel as stuff like this should be free as learning is already publicly free. I don’t see why if u already get downloads u need to pay to learn better your stripping people of the opportunity to learn better just like the green owl. So please make the whole app free permanently!!🪼🎱

Love the idea, however…
I love the idea of this app, I very excitedly downloaded and worked my way through their prompts only to discover after a 3 day trial I have to commit to a 1 year, $45ish subscription. Personally I would feel more comfortable paying the $3.99/month the app seemed to initially advertise itself as costing; I’m not willing to shell out $45+ for an app I’ve only been allowed 3 days to experience. Great idea, the setup looked warm and inviting, but just not willing to commit that quickly and for that much money.
It is not confusing it is deceptive
The app description does not say in app purchase. You are lead down a funnel with the assumption of a sale - that was never the case. Then you are told it will be a 3 day trail. You should say up front that it is in-app purchase so people can avoid wasting their time. Its 2026. This is a consumer demand, not a business strategy
BEWARE
Did the trial and opted to be notified of trial ending before renewal. Never got the notification and now my refund of $60 is being denied. Not worth the $60 especially if it can't even give basic notifications.

Downloaded this app to learn new words, immediately hit with a paywall. Can't access anything without subscribing. I signed up for the 3-day trial with the intention to cancel before being charged. On day 2 they attempted to charge my card early - the charge failed. I immediately cancelled my subscription AND deleted my account through the app.
About a week later they charged me $47.99 out of nowhere. I had already cancelled. I had already deleted my account. There is no reason this charge should have gone through.
This is predatory billing. I've disputed the charge with Apple. Avoid this app.

Crazy signup
One has to go through a million screens just to get started…and at the end they force you to signup. Why can’t I just try without signing up? I know they offer a free trial but I hate to be forced to signup without trying.

Confabulate is one example of a wrong definition. I wonder how many others there are ugh. I know I’ve seen at least two more.

Extremely Sexual - Inaccurate Age Guideline
At first I loved the app. The design is aesthetically pleasing, I love that it can be a widget, and the concept is just generally great. All the sudden, all the words popping up on my Home Screen are related to sex? Not only do I not need an education on the meaning of these types of words, but these are completely inappropriate for a 4 year old which is the age guideline for the app. Thank goodness my child isn’t old enough to read. Who knew you had to screen a glorified dictionary app too? Super disappointing. Leave the sex talk to urban dictionary please.

Your app might have low user retention because everything is locked and paid. I liked it initially but realised it is too restrictive if you don’t pay (that too subscription 😂)

Use it for your lock screen
A slot machine disguised as a learning app. Really disappointing that this is full of microtransactions, given its supposed popularity.
My recommendation for new users would be to get through their overly-long onboarding screens, wait for the X to appear in the upper left on the free trial offer screen to close it, then add this app’s widget to your lock screen. It’s probably the best thing this app has going for it, and you get interesting words throughout your day.
Otherwise, what a waste.

I love learning things but 60 dollars a year is crazy. This app also baited me by tailoring it to me then BOOM I have to pay. Maybe add a free vesion?
