The subscription gives you almost nothing
Even with the subscription, you can’t see warscrolls for your faction without buying the $90+ dollar hard copy of the faction’s book. There is no way to see how strong your army is, or your opponents army. GW is actively trying to make Warhammer less fun with the repeated money-hungry decisions they make.
Lazy
Another lazy gw product
This app makes my brain hurt
Step 1. Purchase book worth tens of pounds
Step 2. Use code in back to redeem at ageofsigmar.com/redeem
Step 3. Open this app and login to same account
Step 4. Inevitably realize that the code you entered has 0 impact on this app. I am not lying to you. Anyone who says the code changes things hasn’t explored the app.
Step 5. Uninstall and reinstall app hoping that digital content will work.
Step 6. Give up and just use New recruit + the book.

Updates Scare Me
Everytime they push an update they remove more information that was freely accessible before hand. Each update they are taking content away from the community and putting it behind a paywall. It’s just sad.
Give us an option to buy our rules
Let us pay $15 or something to let us download our rules. Stop trying to nickel and dime everyone with expensive codexes
Paywall problems
The app itself is ok. However, you no longer can look at all the rules without paying for what’s been released in the books. This is ridiculous when I’m trying to learn my friends’ armies before playing them or playing around with another army that I might be interested in buying. Another example of GW prioritizing short term fiscal gains over long term success.
Terrible New App
Going from the previous AoS app to this one is a huge downgrade. There’s now a subscription required to even mockup more than one army. Worse in every way…
Anti-Consumer Practices
The reason all the warscrolls. (Model data) is behind a pay wall is simple. If you have time to study and buy good models their sales go down. A large portion of their sales come from the fact not every model is good. So people buy models they like, realize they’re bad and have to buy more.
$60 dollars per book is not reasonable for rules that change almost monthly.
Recommend free resources and only getting books that come in sets/boxes as at least you get models with it.

Can't sign in
I can't sign into mywarhammer.com through the app to get the content I purchased.
It doesn't allow me to type anything and most of the links cannot be clicked.
Please fix this issue, I'd really like to use this app.

Double Paywall
The app is actually good, but GW made this a double paywall app and it is criminal. You have to have a Warhammer+ subscription to make lists and then buy a $50 battletome just to see the rules. You can’t even look up your opponents warscrolls unless you buy their battletome. AoS popularity is already diminishing because of this. RIP AoS
Buggy and convoluted
This newer version of the app is worse in every way than the old one.
Harder to find information and excessive use of drop-down menus.
Worse of all it is extremely buggy. It frequently seems to forget I am a subscriber and limits access of features.
Even when I select that I am a subscriber, it does not correct itself.

Have to buy the app 3 times to get any use of it
First you need to actually buy a 60/year SUBSCRIPTION to use the app in any meaningful way. Then you need to buy a 50 dollar rulebook to now get access to the information IN the app. THEN you need to buy the actual units which go anywhere from 25-150 dollars EACH to use the information on the app.
Terrible business practice, terrible app, terrible everything do not recommend spending any money on this company or this app.

Games workshop is scum
The owners are greedy deceitful, conniving, and manipulative. This game releases new models and over powers them in game to promote sales. They are constantly looking for more and more ways to make the game pay to play after the models are already over priced. Must pay a subscription to use the app, then you must’ve also purchased a hardback cover book in person to use a single use code to be able to see the rules for armies as they come out. Please use any free website that puts their information out publicly rather then use this app
Getting Worse
The app for Age of Sigmar has gotten worse for the third edition in a row. Rules are difficulty to find and warscrolls are now locked behind purchasing a battletome, meaning you have no idea what your opponent’s stuff does or how to help new players with their rules. The game is fun, but this app is a serious drawback.
The pay wall is ruining what could be a good app
The app was good when it first launched. Additional features like Realmgate made playing the game easier, but as battletomes get released the app is getting worse.
Requiring a code to see the warscrolls is just awful for the game and pushes folks to piracy and alternative sources. Having a designer complain about it at the World Championships and have to go and find a Battletome to answer a rules question is just embarrassing.
I’ve been cheated (either intentionally or not) because I can’t view my opponent’s Warscrolls countless times. What am I even paying for?
Sorry to say, but the app is a joke and it’s not worth paying for. Use an alternative like List Bot or Wahapedia.

The old app was better in every way
This is a direct port of the 40K app, just reskinned for AoS and it’s terrible. AoS’s 3rd edition app was great, accessible, and much more intuitive. The new paywall structure is an additional level of insult on top of injury. If we already buy the product and books, we should not need to pay an additional service fee to utilize the app’s list builder, such as it is. It’s an obvious cash grab and sad for a company so successful to stoop that low for a few extra bucks.
The sad part is the designers probably agree with all of us who aren’t happy with their product, but the decision was forced on them from a director or exec who wouldn’t hear any word against it.

Ridiculously overpriced
Really? You can’t even look at some warscrolls now without paying for the book? I’m paying $60 a year for warhammer+ because you can’t make more than ONE list unless you pay for that. And you can’t even look at warscrolls for that price. Ridiculous. Every other game has free rules. Warhammer is only kept alive because of the models but this is getting out of hand.
App is unusable
Since the most recent update I am unable to make a list in the app. I pay a $70 yearly subscription to be able to use this feature and it does not work. It also deleted all my previous data in the app so nothing is usable.
To many clicks and paywalls
Previous editions the warscrolls were free and you could make as many army lists as you wanted. Now warscrolls are locked behind a paywall and unless you are a Warhammer+ subscriber you cannot have more than one. Finally you have to too many clicks on a scroll to get to the rules.
Improving but not great yet
Since the app released they’ve made a lot of improvements based on community feedback which is good, but it’s still missing some key features to push it to great. Even if it was perfect though, removing the ability to see profiles when you don’t own a book takes away a lot of the usefulness of the app.
Cash grab
The fact that not only do you have to sign up for the streaming service to be able to use the list builder but now GW has locked all the warscrolls behind a paywall. Forcing you to buy the battle tome just to see unit profiles is horrendous
Downgrade from last edition’s app
Have to pay for warscrolls which is more restrictive and the infinite drop down menus you have to tap through make it annoying to use.
The app is good, but the paywall strategy is horrible
A warhammer+ subscription is needed if you ever want to make more than 1 list. But that doesn’t even get you all the rules, that just unlocks list building. If you want faction warscrolls, which are incredibly important for playing the game, you’ll have to buy the battletome of the army you will be playing against, which is likely not a battletome you’d have bought before. And now that they’ve introduced regiments of renown, guess what, you’ll have to buy that battletome in order to use those rules as well! If GW reverts their paywalling policies back to 3rd edition, my rating goes to 5 stars.
No warscrolls
Having to buy a battle tome to see the warscrolls for this already extremely expensive game is INSANE.
Paywall nonsense
Locking the Warsacrolls behind a paywall so I can’t even see if I want to buy into an army is ridiculous. I could understand like they did in 3rd edition where the faction rules were locked, but at least you could see the rules for the models and see what your opponents can do. Now I have to spend $60 per army to see the rules AFTER buying the $230 starter box? On top of that you have to pay for a subscription service to use the army build beyond the first army?!?! Greed abound. Don’t support this business practice. Subscription services would be fine, $6 a month for the app is whatever, or waive the sub fee with the purchase of a book. Not both.
Way to make entry into the game even harder for new players. Back to Warmachine.

Paywall
Unnecessary paywall blocks access to necessary rules. It makes the community not want to play, which means we don’t want to buy more models.
Terrible business decision.

Disappointment
This app has been a disappointment for me as I am subscribed to Warhammer + (will not be renewing it when the time comes) and it is telling me I can’t make any list cause I am not I have logged out and back in and still nothing. Not to mention I probably won’t be able to continue to use due to not having access to my opponents warscrolls to make sure I understand there rules just the same. Please let me read rules.
Crass Money Grab
$60 a year for a subscription to get the basic functionality the old app had for free.
Disappointed WH Plus Subscriber
So…. The new skaven WS’s are locked behind a paywall even for those of us who subscribe? I mean what the heck… it just feels like a money grab.
Feel like a downgrade. Harmful to the game
Every action take additional menus and steps to preform. Something that could be a simple click now requires you to open multiple screens and open needless drop-down boxes. This will take longer for using as a quick reference. Feels cumbersome.
Also terrible I can no longer read my opponents warscrolls. Being able to fact check an opponents rules without having to accuse them of cheating or making them stop play to show you a rule is bad for the community. I also enjoyed browsing army’s I might be interesting in starting. No longer have an official source for selling me more armies.

Don’t pay.
Basically everything useful is locked behind a paywall. It was decent-ish when everything was free, but next to useless now.
Ruined by greed
At the time of writing this review nearly all factions are in their beta battletome stages and it works well for that. As books come out all players are locked out of information. Frankly don’t bother with this- use New Recruit instead
Not worth your time
As books are released, everything, including basic warscrolls, is paywalled. This is just slowly disappearing free info. Go find a more permanent source for free.
New players stay away - Money grab
This company designed an app that was previously free and made the game easy to learn the rules. Now you can’t have the rules unless you 1) pay the yearly subscription and 2) pay $50 for each upcoming faction book (yes, approximately 25 factions x $50 = $1250 across this edition). Highly advised to avoid this and instead use a third party app, which hopefully will be developed soon.
Step in the wrong direction
Locking the warscroll cards to the army book makes the app nigh unusable, I loved using the app during the index releases as i could see my opponent's warscrolls, I did not mind the army rules being locked behind the army book in 3rd edition. The army lists being locked to warhammer plus will make players look to different list building apps. I know games workshop thinks this will make them more money, but most players won't buy army books for armies they don't play, and most players won't subscribe to warhammer plus to unlock the list builder. If gw really wants people to subscribe to warhammer plus, let the subscription unlock all the army books. I know I would pay for that.
Awful paywalls
Locking warscrolls behind paywalls is a massive mistake. I’ve had issues where my opponent doesn’t fully understand their warscroll, especially with the new edition, and since I could read it I could make sure the rules were followed. Now I’m expected to not only buy the battletome for my own army but for every other army that comes out!? And I’m a Warhammer+ subscriber! Considering cancelling Warhammer+ because this app is now useless
Deceptive in app purchases
Despite how it is presented, subscribing to warhammer + does not unlock the warscrolls. I know multiple people that have fallen for this and were confused and frustrated, especially after spending so much on skaventide already. Also, does Apple know that most of the content of the app is purchased and unlocked outside of the App Store?
Differentiating factors gone
Used to be able to claim AoS was easier to get into but now they have paywalled off basic rules.
Terrible money grab
Making you have to buy everything single battletome just to see that armies warscrolls is just a terrible move. How am I supposed to know if I want to play/buy an army if I can’t actually see the units and what they do. Dumb move that’s going to cost GW more money in the end. Make the Warhammer+ subscription unlock warscrolls and keep the traits locked like in 3rd if you must. Terrible.
Warscrolls should not be locked behind pay walls.
I can kind of understand locking faction rules behind a paywall, but locking warscrolls is anti-consumer.
Greedy changes
Locking basic info for an army behind a sixty+ dollar book that is already outdated by the time it hits shelves is absolute trash. Shame on them and their greed after over a decade of free rules.
Double Paywalled
The most basic functions of the app for two major factions are now double paywalled behind a Warhammer+ Subscription and a 60$ battletome. The plan is to do the same for the rest of the factions, which means the app by itself is completely useless.
Do not download this app. Corporate greed at its finest. Find your rules elsewhere and use a 3rd party army builder.
Do not download this app. Corporate greed at its finest. Find your rules elsewhere and use a 3rd party army builder.
Pricing is terrible
It’s a very mediocre app. Copy paste from their 40K app but yea you have to do a monthly sub and buy every physical book to get the rules….
Much worse UX and paywalled
Used to actually be able to see details about what your opponent was bringing, now they’ve not only made the app harder to use with a worse design, they’ve made our play experience much worse in order to monetize us. Give better, more competent companies your money.
Pointless greed ruins the app
As a brand new player the fact that I have to pay a bunch more money to simple things like build up my army list is ridiculous.
I’m trying to make a list of things to buy and they want to charge me a subscription even for that. It’s ridiculous.

Don’t get this
Paywalled army list builder.
Warscrolls require buying the battle tome.
This is a *change* to the way AoS has worked from the beginning. Where at least warscrolls were available.
Means no reading opponent scrolls, no experimenting with lists for factions where you don’t own the tome, and no making several lists for new players or people who don’t want Warhammer+.
I am a Warhammer+ subscriber, and I hate it. It will harm the game. The sooner the community can move away from this app the better.

Cash Grab
App was free now you have to pay an exorbitant amount of money just to see how the units play. Not worth it. I’ll turn to pirating them for free thanks.
Latest update
Their latest update has made everything too difficult to access unless you subscribe. The subscription pie is already cut up enough, I can’t possibly pay a subscription fee for rules to a game.
Greedy
After paying hundreds for minis and books this app should be free. Typical GW greed. Bright side is I’m exploring a lot of new war gaming systems now!
Anti consumer
This is the app you use to get paywalled out of viewing the rules for the models you have paid for. It’s like buying a box of monopoly and then being forced to download an app and pay 60 bucks to know how to play monopoly.
