Not to mention the app is still littered with self promotion ads, constantly pushing Canvas creators to the back. I can clearly see the flow of money and it not great. Wentoons has effectively b**stardized itself for ad revenue.

It was great when i first downloaded it, then started to disappoint me with ads.
I have had this app for so long and I love new comics and the ones that got me here was midnight poppylan, lore Olympus, and the remarried empress. Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen others that I have waiting on my queue, but now. They got these ads, 😑and I have to watch an ad just to see on an episode that I have already seen, cause I go back to catch up from where I left off. So I go through other comics in the meantime when artists go on Hiatus. going through this is now an utter pain. And don’t get me wrong, if the story was very juicy enough and I needed to watch more. I would buy coins. That’s how I got through lore Olympus. Yea so I don’t know what’s the deal with the ads now, but honestly it is killing it for me. I don’t know if maybe I should try another app, but I don’t wanna run into the same problem. Very much unsatisfied now😞.
Was good while it lasted
This app was cool for a cool minute you can read many manga for any number of genre, the cool part was it was for free if you were willing to wait but now they are pushing out stories that are forcing you to pay and not cheap either. Each chapter is 5 tokens and for 100$ you get 1,150 token, one of the mangas I started is 282 chapters meaning I need to spend 130 dollars for a story that is not finished. I rather just buy real manga at that point.

reading history deleted and comment banned for no reason
Webtoon deleted my reading history AND book "subscriptions" after a year of not using the app or maybe even less than that and I use the same account so it's not like that. Also I barely ever comment but for longer than a year I've been banned from commenting, I genuinely have no clue why because it won't tell me and there is no appeal option.

This app is a good app to find great stories and time killers however with the coin system and ads it makes it the worst possible app to read from when you wanna binge a series imagine having to resort to a BUY NOW TO READ MORE! System what a joke go back to when things were free money greedy idiots

Coins
I love the story’s here, however, needing coins to read most episodes is greedy. I can wait a week for an episode. But needing 3 coins per episode is insane. Please understand people don’t have that kind of money. And if money is the problem I’ll watch an add between every episode so you can have an income. I end up only touching this app once every few months just so I can read without getting stopped by a coin block.
Paywalled and Ruined
Used to be a super cool app that I could read webtoons on whenever I wanted with the occasional episode being locked. As of the last year or so it’s become so ridiculously saturated with ads and paywalls that I can’t even read a series I enjoy anymore without cracking open the wallet. A great example of this is containment zone management, where unless I pay actual money I get to wait 237 DAYS to read the next few episodes. Yippee. I’m just going to read my webcomics and manhwa on the internet from now on.

Used to be a cool app when your ads would work to read a episode and now it makes me rewatch and replay ads over and over unless i’m spending money on coins. As well as all the series that are free being sex based ones rather than the action I so much enjoyed.

I am, no joke, getting a 15 second unstoppable ad every single episode, what’s worse is that those banners don’t even disappear so they take up half your screen even once you close them
AI slop
Webtoons has been going downhill for years with the increasing ads, censoring issues, increasingly non user friendly UI updates, increasing cost of coins, lack of creator support, and AI slop comics. Now they are partnering with Genesis to add more AI nonsense into this app. Truly depressing. Webtoons should be a space for artists, actual artists that put in the work, to share their creations, not this AI ad filled slop fest it’s becoming. There are some really wonderful comics on this app but Webtoons makes it really hard to continue to support them.

Paywall
Wonderful app, truly AMAZING, OR atleast it used to be BEFORE they locked entire series behind a paywall costing fifty dollars a comic or more going up over seventy dollars for some most comics and most people can’t afford that, but maybe you can and if you’re willing to pay through the roof for a single story again and again then have fun reading but if you can’t afford that then this app just ain’t meant for you
Everybody should change their rating to one
Well, this is a very great app and love having diverse options to read and all genres. There are many stories out there that have 100+ chapters and you can’t even read then passed chapter 5 unless you pay real money for them no ads no waiting a month after release you’re just stuck not knowing how the story ends and all that does is harm the creator that wrote these stories cause now they’re fan base is not existent

You used to be able to read without have to sell your time or data but they changed it. I deleted the app and intend to use a competitor.

I have been a long time user of this app (about 8+ years) and always enjoyed the blend of diverse "small creator" made comics, and accessibility.
Unfortunately you can really feel that their focus isn't on supporting small creator and ideas any more, it's on turning a profit. Pop ups, a 15 second ad that takes up half your screen, their none stop notifications trying to entice you too buy their coins for early access, and canceling/ending comics with small creators while pushing big label comics like DC.
I hope they realize that these changes are betraying the very audience they built, please go back to supporting small creators, or at the very least stop pushing adds down all our throats when we all KNOW you guys are making bank on this app.

Forced video ads now
Been using this app for years and have bought ALOT of coins over that time. Now they play video ads that you can’t close early. The pay walls are getting more frequent also, 5 coins for one chapter for a story that’s been out for years is ridiculous
Laggy mess
I love this app and I use to use it all the time but it’s so laggy it’s getting annoying. Anytime I try to scroll down anywhere it’s pausing and freezing for a few seconds at a time, it’s frustrating!!!

Bought a monthly subscription and ads are everywhere. Every chapter comes with a 30 second ad that takes up half the screen. Greedy company. EVERY CHAPTER HAS AN AD. Amazingly the ads don’t buffer but the content does. Slow. No excuses - how can you host an HD ad without any buffering yet struggle to load static images?
