What happened???
I was using this app to run everything! I use on my desktop using on my phone. I don’t type anymore but the last couple days it has fallen apart… It says it’s recording but it doesn’t write anything. Sometimes the app crashes. I don’t know what changed, but the bugs are starting to outweigh the benefits. When it’s running right, it saves me a tremendous amount of time, but this is getting frustrating.
Horrible
I had this installed for two weeks. It dictated zero words every time you exit and try to use it for text messaging, etc. it deactivates. I tried everything, tried to use AI to ensure I had it set up correctly, which I did. The app has access to keyboard, microphone, etc. It just doesn’t work.
Terrible
This app seems like it should work really well, but it does not. It’s constantly freezing so you can record three minutes of words and then you press the checkmark so that it writes it all down and it freezes and it doesn’t and you have to start all over again that is terrible. It’s also constantly bringing you over to the app even though it opens up in whatever app you’re in once you click the microphone to record. It takes you back to the app then you have to come back again and come back again and come back back-and-forth so there are a ton of glitches I would not pay for this app until they fix all of these features.
Losing notes
Keeps losing notes. After recording a long message it’s all gone. Happened several times. Giving up.
DANGEROUS - Avoid
The app asks for FULL ACCESS to all your keyboards which gives them ACCESS to EVERYTHING you’ve typed earlier, including YOUR CREDIT CARDS and BANK ACCOUNTS.

So much worse than default voice to text
This is the most wildly inaccurate voice dictation I’ve ever seen. During app setup I had to check a bunch of settings to see if I was experiencing some weird translation issue. Truly couldn’t get it to even 20% accuracy. No idea where the love for this app comes from.
Absolutely terrible! Never saves any of the conversations that I have.
I get that there are certain limitations that require the dictation to be done in the Wispr Flow app and not directly into the field on the original app that I’m trying to dictate into, but it’s so incredibly frustrating when every time I am taken into the Wispr Flow app none of the dictation that I give actually carries or copies over. Why isn’t there at least a function to be able to copy? What was dictated in Wispr Flow and then paste into the app that I’m actually trying to use- similar to how it is on the desktop??? Absolutely trash.
Swipe back sucks
You have to swipe back to your app every time you use wispr to dictate. Not worth it.

Message length
Even just a few sentences, it still tells me that my message is too long and doesn't save what I said. It constantly happens. I'm tired of after phrasing everything well and then hit the button only to see it tells you that the message was not saved because it's too long
Unreliable
It would be a great app but the app often gets stuck for long periods of time and times out.

Faked broken website to avoid negative review
I had some issues with my subscription and customer service was unhelpful. I got a follow up survey and click my intended rating, but it returned a broken page (or what appeared to be). When I went back to the email and selected a slightly higher number all of a sudden the webpage was working. Sketchy.
Works well, when it works
The whisper part is true. It's very good at accurately hearing what you say at low volumes. Not perfect but pretty impressive.
The problem is it breaks constantly. It's such an unreliable product. I'll be in the middle of dictation, look down, and find out that it just stopped, no warning, no haptic click. Just, I lost my entire train of thought and have to start over. This happens way too often. Sometimes even when it is recording, it just vaporizes. It listened, it heard and then boom it's gone. When you have to babysit the thing, it keeps you from being able to really focus and get into the thoughts you're trying to capture.
I'm still using WF but if I find something better I’d do that in a second. (Also the super-annoying Apple double-swipe. That's Apple
being dicks, not WF’s fault, but it’s another layer of friction.)

Unfortunately a terrible application but it’s not the developers at fault here, it’s apple. This app would’ve been 5/5 if it wasn’t for how finicky and annoying it is to use. The desktop app is much much better.
Great when it works
Servers seem to be done about 50% of the time across desktop and mobile apps, meaning transcriptions do not capture or polish accurately and the time saved by dictating is lost with manual editing.
When servers are up, it’s great. Easy and accurate. Swiping between apps to dictate on mobile is a dumb feature and I deleted from my device because of this.
Also some questionable privacy practices, such as covertly screenshotting your device for training context. You approve this in the TOS that you don’t read. Don’t use this app if you work in sectors that enforce privacy laws because you’ll probably get sued for it.
The degraded service and privacy dark patterns make this a one-star product, but it earns a star back because it’s genuinely really well designed and useful when it works.
