So many steps
I have a feeling that it is apple’s fault, but there are so many steps to get this working and the interface for texting is not intuitive.

requires switching apps and defaults back to native keyboard after 1 use
not Wispr Flow’s fault but more so a petition for apple to remove this restriction

Beware: the keyboard requires switching apps
It’s not clear from this app’s screenshots, but using their custom keyboard requires switching to their app. This makes it annoying and impractical.
★★★★ Sal Hab 4/12/2026 v1.52
Keyboard is unusable
The new keyboard is unusable. Voice works fairly well, but we still do often have to use the keyboard to fix an error or make an adjustment. Your keyboard is totally unusable, and I have to switch back to the iOS default keyboard. This is not a hard problem to solve, so please fix it. I know this is meant to be a voice app, but we absolutely need the keyboard to be usable.

Great app, but latest update hurts usability
I used to love this app - it was fast, intuitive, and genuinely improved my workflow.
However, after the latest update, the user experience has significantly worsened. The need to swipe between screens makes everything slower and less efficient. It breaks the natural flow that made the app so useful in the first place.
Right now, it’s actually faster to use native voice dictation in apps like WhatsApp, which defeats the purpose of using this app.
I really hope this is addressed soon, because the core idea is excellent - but the current experience is frustrating.

Not worth the price
This app is mediocre at best. I am actually writing this review via apples microphone. Why should you pay $150 a year for an app that really does not do anything different than Apple. I want it to work, I wanted it to work, I wanted to pay the money, and it simply is not worth the price. Please do not spend the money on this.
★★★★★ TG797879074 5/3/2026 v1.59
Horrible setup
The app wouldn’t let me skip where I heard about it.
Then it wouldn’t let me type in where I heard about it.
It also deleted the spaces I typed in so I could not give the full name.
So my choice is to delete the app I can’t use, for the stupidest reason possible, or just ignore it.

Much better on Android and laptop.
Honestly, if I had purchased this on my iOS device before buying it for my Mac, my Windows PC, or my Android, I probably would have never purchased the application. The fact that you have to have a custom keyboard just to be able to input audio text is frankly ridiculous. Wispr Flow has become so integral to my daily activity that I can't imagine not using it on my mobile devices. Currently, I just have an iPad as a mobile device for my Apple devices, but I was thinking about getting an iPhone. Without the ability to use Wispr Flow like I do on my Android. I would definitely stick with Android.
I hate the keyboard switching so much.

Nice idea, but a buggy mess.
I wanna like this app, but I've cancelled my subscription after two months. I tested Willow, and it's a thousand times better. Unfortunately, this app is often slow, it's very buggy, and often times it crashes. It's implemented much more poorly on an iPhone than Willow.
On desktop, often times I'll speak into it and it will cut off the first couple words of my sentence. Sometimes I'll speak into it and it will paste something from my clipboard rather than the thing I spoke into it, and it will do that over and over and over again. I have to restart the app on a regular basis because of problems with it. I absolutely hate it at this point. You can test it, but that's been my experience.

Phone overheating 2 hours after download
I’ve been testing out Wispr on desktop this week and it’s quite good. Unfortunately, the iOS app has its quirks. Lemme preface by saying that I’m using a brand new iPhone 16E currently, more than 50% free storage, not a ton of apps installed on this device, no battery issues obv - nothing. Latest version of iOS. Basically, not the kind of device that should be overheating (at least until Apple decides they want me to buy a new phone and then suddenly it’ll start overheating every day lol). TLDR it’s a new phone.
I installed Wispr. I was bummed by the limited usability, but that’s iOS’ fault, not Wispr’s. Apple is very restrictive regarding hooks into system components (ie the keyboard. And the mic).
Even with iOS limitations, I was still kinda shocked that once you activate Wispr, the mic just straight up stays on. Like I was already way past writing/dictating anything and was just looking at some other app and noticed the mic was still on. Again, I understand iOS limitations and sandboxing but man that’s a hard sell for me. I also noticed (again this is like 45min after last using it) that my phone was getting hot (hotter than this phone has ever gotten in the couple months I’ve had it). I killed Wispr completely til my mic was off. Wispr was killed from app switcher as well. An hour or so later I grab my phone and it’s noticeably HOTTER than it was since killing Wispr. So much so that when I plugged it in to charge, it wouldn’t even charge cuz of the heat (which is par for the course and on my old iX or my “unsandboxed” i14p, but hasn’t even come close to happening on this new phone. I deleted Wispr and only then did it NOTICABLY begin cooling down. That was a few days ago, no overheating issues since. (Btw, environment temperature was not a factor that day).
Sooo I’m gonna pass for now. It’s a cool tool but I’d rather not have some beta-phase unoptimized hacky (to deal with iOS limitations) daemon running in the background 24/7, keeping my mic on and stressing my APU. It’s not even a privacy concern it’s just an optimization issue for me.

Is it really worth it?
This isn't the company's fault but an Apple gripe. You constantly have to reopen the app in order to get permissions access for the microphone. This makes it incredibly challenging and annoying to actually use in practice. My other main complaint about the app is that it doesn't actually show you what's being written in real time. You just have to wait and hope everything is right, only seeing your text appear after you stop recording. All this for 12-15$ a month? You can buy whole AI tooling for that amount. Not worth it for me, pass.
★★★★★ paracha3 4/27/2026 v1.57
Urdu speech to text not good
I have selected Urdu as my only language in preferences. Yet, when I speak Urdu sentences, the app is constantly transcribing in Hindi. Why transcribe in Hindi when the one and only language I have selected is Urdu?

Great App for Your Computer
The app still works well for dictation, but if you have to correct something using the keyboard, the keyboard is borderline not functional, so it kind of makes the app not usable. Also, if you're connected to CarPlay, It'll completely mess up your volume and settings, and you'll have to reconnect everything if you attempt to use the app.
★★★★★ BinaryLiturgy 4/22/2026 v1.56
Great keyboard, battery killer
This keyboard is a great concept, but the battery drain and thermal issues are a total deal breaker. Even on a brand new iPhone 17 Pro, it turns my phone into a frying pan. I’ve tried tweaking every setting and switched to the action button shortcut, but nothing stops the drain.
I watched my battery tank from 97% to 88% in just 30 minutes. It’s hard to justify $15/mo for "unlimited words" when the app makes the phone too hot to even hold. You’re basically paying a premium to destroy your battery health. It’s a shame because the dictation is great, but until the thermal issues are fixed, it’s just going to burn a hole in your pocket.. literally and metaphorically.

iOS app will not work
Considering the cost I expect flawless performance. I subscribed yet when trying to login on iOS I am blocked because their website is considered not secure. If I can’t use on iOS it becomes useless. I want my money refunded if this cannot be remedied!
★★★★★ GamerPalmSweats 4/9/2026 v1.52
$143.99 Way too expensive for a subscription
Wispr Flow: AI Voice Keyboard works extremely well honestly, the voice dictation is fast, accurate, and on par with what I get on the Pixel 10 Pro. No complaints at all about performance.
But $143.99 per year is just not reasonable. At that price, this should be a one time lifetime purchase, not a recurring subscription. It’s hard to justify paying that much annually, no matter how good it is.
If pricing were more realistic, this would be an easy recommendation. Right now, it’s simply too overpriced to consider.
★★★★★ ThisGuys0pinion 4/9/2026 v1.52
Not their fault, but no.
I’m new to the app and I’ve been using it on my computer for a while. Thought I tried it on the phone. It’s great and works well however it looks like Apple changed something recently and every time you use Wispet, it requires a swipe to go out of the app, to come back in the app, and it’s just too cumbersome. Unfortunately, gonna have to stick to using Apple‘s voice dictation which I think was probably Apple’s thought behind this. It’s unfortunate because Wispet is much better. Canceled my subscription, but didn’t delete the app hoping they are able to work through this with Apple and get that limitation removed. Sounds like it hasn’t always been there.
