Arlo used to be very reliable, both the app & system. Recent app updates rendered my system unusable. Cameras started having major connectivity issues. Support advised me to remove and reinstall cameras. They said if done within 48 hours it wouldn't lose data. I could not reconnect afterwards. My cameras that were connected stopped being triggered by audio, then motion. I was contacting Arlo frequently, spending hours troubleshooting. Plus the price went up. We purchased a new system elsewhere.

We've had it for over 10 years. At 1st it was great setting up & seeing all actions, etc. 5 years ago we moved & added a few more newer cameras & service features but ARLO has gotten worse with HOW TO OPERATE THEIR SYSTEM. Service techs are very nice on the phone but it takes HOURS trying to resolve why some cameras don't sent signals to some of our phone & not to others. Some cameras don't record & save the video for to review. Very frustrating!

Spend your money elsewhere. This company doesn't know what they're doing. For example, they will push automatic updates and it will make your cameras stop working....forcing you to call for help and waste your time, with no resolve. After spending hours on the phone, being told to uninstall the app, unistall the cameras....weeks later (now in May) they still cannot figure out the problem.

If I could give zero stars I would. This arlo 2nd generation doorbell camera is horrible. the motion sensor works when it wants to , notifications are barely, troubleshooting steps to reset, uninstall app and reinstall, add device again and wifi internet connection, JUST TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!! I'm retiring to walmart and buying another doorbell camera. 🤬
Those cameras are trash. They pick and choose what to alert you over, but when something serious is really happening on your cameras, it mysteriously doesn't pick it up. They always seem to work when nothing is going on, but when something is happening, they suddenly don't work. Then, they have the audacity to make you sign up for a subscription. Every time you make these legitimate complaints to the company, nothing happens.

Worst security system ever. It's supposed to keep recording as long as the activity is going but it only record 10 or 15 seconds then stops missing everything! So unreliable and waste of money
new UI is terrible. It's over complicated to set up and I now seem to have lost the ability to set up stable geolocation zones and schedules. I've had to manually arm and disarm my cameras. also the quantity of notifications when switching between states is too many. I'm tired of Arlo and definitely looking to move on once a camera breaks.- too much pointless change and glitchy software
Newest update created bugs for me and my husband and now we are not receiving notifications, the cameras show offline for him, but not for me... the last online mode was 19 hours ago, but we've been in and out of the house since then, and our wifi is perfectly fine.
Latest interface update has turned this from a simple and straightforward app to one that is utterly confusing. The way of setting up geofencing is complete mess and feels like i need to have a degree in coding, you have to multiple levels deep. I cant even get them to work on a basic schedule properly. The previous interface was SO much better and worked fine.. why did you change it!?
peace of mind! updated on 5/2026 to say this app and cameras have stopped functioning. when they worked they were great. now not so much.
if you do not continue the paid membership you dont get to even watch your cameras. the paid tried ended and I still get notifications but cannot open the camera footage. this is ridiculous that I just bought these cameras and they only worked for the trial period
I purchased the Arlo security camera hoping for a reliable experience, but the Geofence feature simply cannot be set up. I’ve called customer service multiple times, and despite their attempts, I received no helpful solutions. Extremely disappointed-this key feature doesn’t work, and support was unhelpful. Would not recommend until they fix this!!!
This app and the new Arlo cams in 2026 fail to record on motion and fail to notify even though the sirens go off. Numerous tries with tech support fail to resolve the issues. I bought a dozen cameras but after struggling with them for weeks, I have to give up and replace them with another brand.
it works from time to time. this app mostly SUCKS
Basic functions like recording take longer to start than an object or person of interest is within the cameras field of view. More advanced functions like scheduling or geofencing simply do not work out can't be enabled. Notifications of recordings or triggers override in progress calls (video or voice) and cause them to cease streaming video or voice from your phone. All in all, very poorly executed. However, far better privacy than all the other providers, so there is that
Absolute trash. I own 2 of their "best and most expensive" cameras and they are always needing to be restarted or just don't show on my phone or they tell me it's offline, they don't show any movement in my driveway. No cars pulling in or out and the camera is pointed right at it! Customer service is a joke and frustrating and naturally not in the country so that's fun. So many other companies that are cheaper and work better. Arlo is overrated and horrible. Don't make the same mistake I made!!
no longer paying Arlo and now my local storage doesn't show any events. App is garbage. Apparently the suggestion given by Arlo is worse then the app. use a laptop or pc to view local recorded events. kinda makes that app useless like the rest of their support and products.
had 4 cameras for 3 years now and everything here recently as just started to take a turn for the worst nothing but problems im about to switch to a different brand and trash all these cameras I recommend spending the money and going with something better dont buy these cameras I cant even get tech support to help me when I need them and I pay for a monthly subscription this is turning into the worst purchase i've ever made
After the last upgrade of mobile application are not able to get cameras back on schedule. Starting using other camera brands.
Take at least 15 seconds for the camera to come in and its always asking for the password every other time ugggg this is worse than the arlo app wassometimes ut shows blacked out. Or takes lots longer to come in very very disappointed 😭😭 you are shortening the app ability all the time it's so saf
the new update has made me reconsider using your products. and your recommendation on how to fix it is a joke. and to top it off your just started charging me double the price for no reason and with no warning. it just keeps getting worse. might switch to ring if you don't get this fixed soon.

Updating my previous 1-star review because nothing has changed. The Arlo system still has constant connection issues and continues to be one of the most frustrating security systems I’ve used. Adding or reconnecting cameras takes way too long, recordings are unreliable, and the app redesign did not fix the core problems. Instead of improving the system, updates seem to make the experience worse. I do not recommend Arlo systems!!!!
Had arlo for years. Were decent when I started with the pro 2 cams. then the app update and subscriptions came. Most unreliable tech I have ever owned now and I pay a subscription to be disappointed. none of the zones work. Most of the time it doesnt even record what you got it set for. support is terrible. contstantly changing functions.Constantly disconnecting. Absolute junk. They'd rather sell you a subscription then actually make their product work. Worst products and company ever.
Wish I purchased another brand like Eufy.. arlos's app update made it worse. When will they actually do an update to the app that will be an upgrade?
My feed has disapeared in the latest app update...
Slow to update recent images on the feed, doesn't always give notifications instantly so you cannot see what is happening in real time and often suddenly downloads lots of notifications in one go.
Wish I'd bought a 'Ring' doorbell. This drives me crazy if someone comes to the front door & I go out to speak to them. A constant "Motion detected at the video doorbell" the whole time. It picks up cars driving past on the road, but not the Amazon guy dropping something off??! If I want to have access to the history of camera shots I have to pay a ridiculous yearly fee. Give it a miss people
What is going on!!? there recently was an update to the dashboard and what seems to be the function of the whole app and is is terrible!!! Very frustrating, glitchy, and unreliable. Making it more complicated than it needs to be. Please give and option to use the original dashboard or clean up the new one.
Went from an easy to use basic app to almost unusable. If no change soon I will swap cameras out. Access for other users lost Fix the app or stop charging for poor service Service cancelled and new cameras installed. No more arlo. Your app is still rubbish
Arlo decided to update their app and I lost access to all cameras shared with me. I upgraded and still no cameras. Thanks to AI help I had to do a force upgrade workaround by adding a pro 5 device that we don't have but it forced the app to upgrade to the new Feed version rather than the old Location app version. Whoever develops and signs off the app upgrade needs to be sacked as they clearly are not thinking about its customers and the frustration it causes.
The previous interface version was ok. New one is preposterous, obscure and begs for a switch to a competitor.
The new app design is a non intuitive disaster with removed functionality and broken functionaly. Trying to use it is a frustrating experience. Definitely won't be buying any more Arlo, it's so bad I'm tempted to switch providers anyway and just take the hit on the hardware I have.
camera constantly going offline although there is a steady network, have tried the trouble shooting guide with no luck and tried contacting arlo.with no response.ready to chuck them in the bin and go with a different brand
always going off line takes hours to reconnect invested in many cameras, may have to just bite the bullet and delete whole system for good! very, very disappointed!
it was fine before, it clipped all the motion detection. after the new update , nothing shows. what is the point of buying this? if something happens and there are no recordings.
the app is sluggish, not very intuitive, and most importantly, easy to break into. constantly having to change my settings back to get notifications. sections of recorded video get deleted on the reg. and when people show up to the house, they knock my cams out via wifi or by logging me out and grabbing the change password key before I can get it in. absolute junk. oh and the sound.is horrendous. its almost as if an ai fills in the blanks with weird noises, and there's constant backgrnd noise
Terrible at recognizing devices after resets. The hub makes it worse as you can be stuck alarms going off with no way to deactivate them if it crashes. the app has no override. its just horrible design all over.
STREAMING FAILED ERROR CONSTANTLY!!! I get this error every 20 minutes consistently! I have tried reinstalling and resetting everything but nothing helps.

bought 3 new cameras ,installed 2.my old 2 have better picture and work properly. The 2 new ones always off line , detect no movement.
