It doesn't matter how many times you pay and install the app demands reinstall and another payment. This problem has been consistent over a very extended period. Never any issues with The Economist, NYT, New Yorker, or other superior journals. All this together with the outrageous cost where it really does its very best.

This company publishes false and dishonest information without fact-checking. Don't waste your energy on them.
I am so fed up with the unbelievably unprofessional functionality of the AFR regarding management of my subscription. It is insane, in the year 2025, this can't be done easily through the website. Response to Fairfax Media: You clearly don't get the point. There should not be any need to contact a person. It should be possible to turn your subscription on or off with a mouse click. Basic functionality and standard practice that the AFR is apparently unable to accommodate.

No point for the app unless your $ub$cribed, it's all paid content, at the insane price of $70 per month!!! For digital distribution which is near zero cost compared to paper. And they wonder why readership is falling... Probably because its all pay walled and crazy expensive. Would consider it if there was e-reader support and it was 50%+ (permanently) cheaper!
Every article needs a paid subscription!

After the latest update on Android, reading 'Today's Paper' has become a frustrating affair. 1.If you switch to different app for a while and come back to AFR, downloaded paper doesn't load. You need to close (kill) the app and restart 2.Every time you return to the Today's paper - it bring you back to front page instead of remembering. 3.Double tap doesn't zoom in / out 4.Newspaper flickers when you move areas of the same page on the screen. NOTE: Previous Android version was good.

Uninteresting
UPDATE I'm sick of the endless and stupid google ads, so uninstalling the app and down to 2 stars. Will read online from now on. ORIGINAL I was told by my boss some 40 (?) years ago that the Fin Rev was the newspaper to read and be seen reading. So I've done so ever since, albeit sporadically. He was right. Waaaaay better than the others. The only thing I haven't worked out with the app is how to make the pictures bigger. So 4 stars. UPDATE No, back to 5. Picture biggening is fine.
Unreadable in dark format in low light. The inclusion of blue text throughout articles when you have dark turned on and are reading predominantly white text means that swathes of the articles are illegible in low light. Are basic UI flaw for an otherwise good addition to android
I removed the app: the search doesn't work as good as the online search. Missing functionalities that online has.
open a AFR web link can't automatical redirect to the app
