★★★★ David F Zambrana 12/30/2025 v1.12.4
BUYER BEWARE! Everyone should be aware that Google Newsstand is completely unaware of the products that they're selling, they have no clue that when we purchase the Washington Post through their application that we will have no access to the Washington Post website even though the Washington Post website states that we can connect our digital subscriptions to their website; but not if you purchased it through Google Newsstand. What's even worse is that Google Newsstand tried to alleviate t

I am canceling my subscription because the Post has become a tool of neo-fascists, and I'm not giving those people my money. Jeff Bezos ruined the Washington Post. to make every article published in the paper available online, through the app.
★★★★ Snake Plissken 9/21/2025
Democracy and this paper died in darkness.
★★★★ Judith Bailey 9/2/2025 v1.19
print edition no longer loading.
★★★★ Howard Passman 6/8/2025 v1.31.3
Can this online edition actually be worse than trying to get delivery to my house? Apparently yes,
★★★★ Kevin Spence 3/11/2025
Watch out!! Google Play will not refund an annual subscription if you purchase through them!!
★★★★ John Fuhr 10/29/2024
Cowards! Afraid of Bezos??
★★★★ Kevin Corwin 9/2/2023 v1.31.3
Sucks
★★★★ Chris Smith 3/30/2023 v1.31.3
UPDATE 2023: Why is this app still on the Play Store?? Almost as soon as you open it you are instructed to switch over to the version with the black icon. Just remove it and save people a pointless download. At the very least you could post a prominent message on the download page saying that this app is no longer usable. .... Excellent journalism brilliantly rendered in this intuitive app. "Democracy dies in the dark." 💡😎
★★★★ 99.99 2/27/2023 v1.31.3
Fake news.
★★★★ Christopher More 11/23/2022 v1.31.3
is the royal blue washington post app different than the black and white washington post app?
★★★★ Reno Davenport 11/13/2022 v1.31.3
Terrible app, the old one was much better and easy to read.
★★★★ Google user unkown 6/23/2022
Wapo are proved lyers who repeatedly put out fake news.
★★★★ Jay Barlow 5/5/2022 v1.31
I cancelled my subscription because I did not like the new format. The fonts are too small to read without reading glasses. I liked the old format much better.
★★★★ John M 4/23/2022 v1.31.3
The old app was perfect. The new will not work on my main tablet. The format sucks. I want a news app tp look like a newspaper like the old one did. I Will be cancelling my subscription soon. Things should improve over time, not get worse.
★★★★ Peter Anderegg 4/20/2022 v1.31.3
New App Sucks. I used to be able to proceed through the paper in a clear and orderly progression, picking whichever tab suited my interest. Now the screen is a big MESS and I have to scroll down and down and sideways this way then sideways that to try to find what I want to read. I am considering unsubscribing to the WP
★★★★ Ann Heslin 4/13/2022 v1.31.3
I prefer the old app to the new because there aren't a whole lot of stories jumbled together, so it's easier to scroll down through them to find the ones you want to read or save. Also, both the old and new apps' search functions to try to find a certain story invariably fail to turn up what you are looking for, even if you put the full title of the story in the search bar.
★★★★ Amy Taylor 4/13/2022 v1.31.3
The new version is awful- it's just the regular Washington Post app. The print is way too small and the article organization is choppy and abrupt. I used to spend about an hour on the app every day reading and catching up, now it's 15 min max. I would love it if Select came back.
★★★★ A Google user 4/12/2022 v1.31.3
Why mess for something that works good. I'd like the old app better.
★★★★ Glenna Druyvestein 3/30/2022 v1.31.3
The new version of the app is unusable for me and my husband, who has macular degeneration. The largest print is too small. It is also hard to use if you wish to scan all articles quickly, reading some partially and others in depth as we do. It doesn't hold your place when you are interrupted for a time, or show what you have already read.
★★★★ Steven Lee 3/18/2022 v1.31.2
The new app is a cluttered mess. The old one was 5 stars. It was so clean and easy to navigate.
★★★★ Douglas MacKinnon 3/17/2022 v1.31.1
Crashes - unstable.
★★★★ Nick Caramello 3/13/2022 v1.31.2
This version is a giant step backwards. Content is missing that shows up on the website, and it's not that it's just not in the browse experience, you also can't search for it. The WP has two things going for it: good content and a great app experience. You've managed to blow up the former with a untested, lacklustre deployment of the latter.
★★★★ Joseph Willmon 2/25/2022 v1.31
The new app is terrible! The previous one was great.
★★★★ A Google user 2/16/2022 v1.31
My original 5 star review was for the original version of the app. The "new" version is much like the original, but now with ads even for paid subscribers. This used to be a great app, but now it's something less. They're discontinuing the old app because they aren't making money from ads in that one. When it's time for me to renew my subscription, they will no longer be making money from me, as I won't be renewing.
★★★★ Max Baer 2/14/2022 v1.30.5
Will not load.
★★★★ Samuel Connell 2/12/2022 v1.30.6
It's forcing me to update but then will not accept the update so now I can't even open Washington Post. And now it is called Washington select? There was no reference to this in any email or anything official. This is quite problematical.
★★★★★ Guy Rich 7/18/2024 v1.31.3
Difficult to access the app. Seems to not think I have it. A real pain.
★★★★★ Gonzalo Verdugo 10/24/2022 v1.31.3
I must reinstall this app every time I want to use it!
★★★★★ Oscar Hernandez 8/26/2022 v1.31.3
Too bias, news wether good or bad should be neutral towards anybody
★★★★★ Brian Birket 5/8/2022 v1.31.3
Preferred previous format, I liked the visuals with the article.
★★★★★ Kenneth Waller 3/18/2022 v1.31.2
This app cuts off without warning when trying to review articles. It needs to be more stable when in use. So long as it keeps cuttong off, it is hard to know how easy it is to use.
★★★★★ Meredith Bullock 2/26/2022 v1.31.1
still learning the navigation, finding it bright and intuitive. This "update" has ads and "in app purchases." What? I'm a paying subscriber. I'm uninstalling!
