Worst “security” decision I’ve made
I bought the Arlo Base Station to record and view security footage when I’m not home. That was 2 years ago. It never worked as marketed. I finally got it working by punching holes (port forwarding) my security. Every app update kills it and I have to start all over trying to view videos when I’m not at home on my network. Where’s the value in that?
I do not recommend this company for home security. Worst programmers I’ve ever dealt with.

Can’t use app
Canceling my subscription, selling my cameras. Can’t use app. Wants you to enter code they email to you. Leave app to get code from email, go back to the app, and it starts over sending you a new code. Every time you go to get the code from email, it starts over and sends a different code. No way to get code from email, then enter it without it canceling that code and sending you another one.

Geofencing worked fine for years and now it doesn’t. Without that the cameras are useless. Definitely no new Arlo purchases in my future.

5/8/26 The app was recently updated and there are MANY complaints about it, including mine! They turned an easy-to-use system into a complicated, unintuitive nightmare. And, the grid system of reviewing thumbnails now is a column. It takes much longer to view. I've used these cameras for a number of years and this new app update will force me to find a new system.

Forces to pay more?
$400+ dollars and $20 a month LTE service just to be told I must pay Arlo a monthly fee to save recordings… preposterous. So happy I need expanded to more than 2 cameras. Will be ditching them entirely this month.

The other app was better. Several functions on this don’t even work. And the mandatory tone when you arm your system is really unnecessary. I don’t want my phone making noise when I arm my system.

Much slower after update
The app was always slow but tolerable. Recent update now can take up to 2-3minutes to open to view movement that sets off camera. If we get a security system it’s to view movement on the property. Why make it even slower to respond? By the time the app opens the camera at my front door they could either be gone or already in my house. Horrible

New app is total junk
The updated app actually reduces functionality. In addition it went from being simple to do things like change camera mode to being obscure or even impossible. I’m changing a of my cameras in two locations to a different brand.

Broken again

Latest updates ruined the app
This app has been great up till recently. The most recent updates have completely ruined my security system. Custom modes aren’t functioning as they should, I’m having to manually put the system in standby every day. Super irritating.

Some Features Removed
The app works as designed. Unfortunately, I was also a customer when the previous app was in play. This app removed the ability to schedule one camera different than the others. The three main options are “Arm Away”, “Arm Home”, and “Stand-by”. In theory, those options are good, but they do NOT allow the flexibility needed for different cameras at different times. Creating 13 different Automations for ALL cameras so they function near to what we had before sucks. We still have to disable certain cameras manually just to simulate what we used to have. It is NOT a good return on investment or time. Bring back the ability to schedule individual cameras!

Arlo and Apple are vinegar and oil.
App crashes frequently. Arlo creates so much friction when trying to integrate with HomeKit. I loved the app until I bought the Arlo smart hub and tried to add to HomeKit now device suddenly dumbed down, restricted or needs to be upgraded. Tech support was ignorant of their own product, no resolution. Hub/cameras will not connect to Apple HomeKit

Wish it was better
There is a significant time delay from the time someone or something goes by the camera. Not a real-time capture of an event. Also, the picture quality is very grainy and many times unable to identify an animal or face of a person.
