I have been trying to stop this app for months! I continue to be charged even though they said it had been stopped. Terrible customer service.

On iPad when saving files with two or more dots in the filename, the first one is considered as file type. So a PDF from arXiv with the name 1324.4658v1.pdf turns into an unreadable file of type 4658v1. iPad app does not support adding/changing file types

Terrible common app
I made an account to complain about Dropbox because it genuinely sucks that bad. Using Dropbox is insufferable and always has been. Trying to view a document always equals trying to strain your neck to see the actual pic, and zooming in - no matter what device you’re on - either means you’ll accidentally exit the document or be met with like 10 pixels. The incredible lack of space in the free version is also laughable. Photographers, please stop using Dropbox. It sucks.

The photos you take are such bad quality you can barely even read any files on it and your better off making folders in your photos then using drop box.

Monthly Subscription Expensive
I hate that Dropbox automatically deletes your documents when your storage is full and corners you into paying a subscription. It’s the only safe place I found to store my medical school notes. I am already overwhelmed by paying out of pocket. Anyone know a better storage app or is there a better solution for this?!
Scam trial DO NOT USE DROPBOX
Tried a professional trial, and then was charged $21 for a monthly subscription a day before the trial ended. This is a scam, and way too expensive for what the service provides.

Just downloaded the app and it’s not working. Sends a passcode after signing up but all the passcodes sent are not working.

Also gone: file information! You used to see how old the file is and the file size. Nope, have fun with the surprise download size!

Unnecessary charges
Drop box blocked my usage until I purchased Google space. I paid this for 7 months despite the fact that I was already paying for 2TB of Google storage. I finally called apple and asked if I had to pay both. I was told no and the subscription for drop box was cancelled. When tried to apply for a refund, it would only allow two months so I called apple support again. I was informed that I could only apply for two months despite the fact that I was strong-armed into buying the space in drop box to begin with. $62.91 isn’t a sneeze for Google, but on my fixed income and gas at $6.00 a gallon it’s pretty big for me. I believe it’s a reasonable request but was informed that there is no one and no way to request the full refund. Pretty poor customer support in my opinion. Especially when I half expect drop box to cut me off again. I was informed that no one, not even management or corporate could do better. Wow.
Cannot Select Preferred PDF APP
Dropbox does not allow customers to select a PDF reader or editor. On iPad, the Dropbox app’s PDF edit flow is built around the Adobe Acrobat integration, so Nitro (or any other PDF app) won’t appear as an in-app editor option when you start from a PDF in Dropbox.
So, when you click on “open with” only one option appears regardless of the number of PDF apps installed on the device. In other words, Dropbox attempts to force customers to use Adobe Acrobat when it is not the preferred app. This is a hugely aggravating and annoying Dropbox flaw.

Bring back sending docs to signature straight from Finder
I tried getting an issue resolved with Dropbox’s AI, but then got sent to a real person, and then they created a ticket. I caught up in things and because I didn’t respond to the email within a few hours they marked it as resolved. Felt like a slap in the face, like they didn’t like me having an issue in the first place.
The features of being able to send a doc out for signature straight from Finder was exceedingly convenient, and the feature of the signed file being saved to the original or specified folder after signatures are complete was incredibly helpful, but they took those features away. Terrible
You used to only have to subscribe for one month for the whole year in order for your data not to be terminated. The only way now to get help directly from them is to be an paid user!
Impossible to cancel subscription
I opened up the app and it forces you into signing up and then places you in a free 30 day trial with at the end of the 30 day trial it will start billing you and it is virtually impossible to cancel your subscription without reading pages and pages of everything except for the cancellation button. I will never recommend a service that cannot be honest enough to provide you with easy access to cancel a mistake just for opening up the app to see what it is all about 🤬

Dropbox updated their terms of service (March 2026) to opt-in all users data to be trained in third-party AI services (ChatGPT, Claude, etc) and is near-impossible to opt-out of.

I used to use it in the early days because it was compatible with my Yahoo email and seemed to have a safe cloud for family photos and legal documents but since the Yahoo "breech"/theft I cannot get the code message at my Yahoo email to verify my stolen dropbox account.

Recently I joined the cast of a musical, so I got Dropbox because that’s where all the help tracks, choreography videos, etc are posted. I purchased Dropbox Plus, multiple times, in order to account for the space the musical files took up. So, there should be no problem. But every single file I try to open on Dropbox, without fail, gives me a “there was an error loading the file” message with an admittedly cute cartoon cat trying to squeeze itself into a box. This is very frustrating as someone who needs these tools to be a successful, contributing member of my cast. I’m afraid I cannot recommend Dropbox over other apps like Google Drive given these continued difficulties. Hopefully this issue gets resolved soon-119 dollars a year is not cheap!

Now, when I try to upload a file save from a freelancer company directly to dropbox it doesn’t let me one search for the file or folder. I want to put it in.
It gives me a list of folders. I cannot find it and if it’s somehow nested in another folder, even when I create a new folder, it nested it somewhere.
It should immediately put it in the drop-down folder list.. or give you a choice to search for it or if you create a new one, it doesn’t have to be nested under anything else so you don’t have to be a detective to find it (give a choice of it if you wanna be nested under something or not)
On this iPhone, there’s no choice to move it to its own folder so I can see it in the folder list to actually upload it or download it.
(yes, if I open the file, there is an upload link. That’s not what I’m talking about.)

Stop wasting my time
Because I use the free version every single time I login you hit me with all these options about how I’m almost out of storage and I’ve actually deleted files so I can keep things free the more you advertise the more you make me grin when I think about how I’m not paying for this
Mobile app kinda sucks
You cannot sort folders by any metric, hard to find stuff. The simple things every other app has are shockingly not options here.
