Not Firefox
This app is not a true update or replacement of the Firefox browser. I use Mozilla’s’ Firefox on three other platforms and I synched them all successfully. This app is not usable if you want the true Firefox app of the old browser.
It’s been a good run, but…
I’ve had to uninstall FIrefox from my iPad. There have been a few annoying bugs (features?) I’ve been tolerating for about a year now. Tapping on links open new tabs. My search prompts get deleted when I hit ‘Enter’, and refreshes the page. The last straw was this morning when I couldn’t even access the search bar as if it was frozen. Maybe some day these bugs will get fixed, but until then I’m going to look for another browser

This is supposed to be a good browser but just a gateway for someone messing around on my phone All these company’s just tell you what you want to hear but it’s never how things go down…… All of them even open source Internet is starting to become sketchy

Total Failure!
No way to reach support! Screwed it up and now I can’t find a way to start over with correct information. Hit the wrong key, don’t know which one. Need to have data purged so I can start over but no way to do that. Guess Guardio isn’t for clumsy people.
iOS Version Is A Joke
Use Brave. The only reason you’re using a browser that isn’t Safari is to get Adblock. The iOS variant of this app makes it a hurdle to do so especially when you realize this is just a fork of Safari on iOS. A literal joke compared to their desktop and android counterparts.

Very slow even i am on a 11in Magic Keyboard from apple iPad Air M2 i hate it.
Updating
When updating make sure that you copy and paste all of your open tabs into a document so else they will be lost. I just updated and all of my tabs have been deleted with no way to get them back.

abysmal on ipad
crashes constantly scrolling pages or through open tabs. recently started logging me out everywhere every time i minimize a window. the bookmarks window is tiny and so poorly designed. no customization or accessibility tools beyond a dark mode setting that doesn’t even work. truly the worst version of firefox hands down. i used to be a big fan of firefox between all this and the AI bull. already tried their common sense fixes. not posting on the forum. i’m done.

Get the damn AI out
Why on earth is there an AI summary button right in the address bar where it’s impossible to not accidentally trigger? If you’re going to shove AI down everyone’s throat, at least implement it like you did on desktop: easy to ignore and pretend it doesn’t exist.
Crashes when too many tabs open
The only other browsers i have used are chrome and safari, but holy smokes. The fact that if i have ten tabs open, nothing and i mean NOTHING works on my phone is CRAZY. It lags my entire phone so bad. I just wanted a browser that wasnt always watching me or pushing AI. i cant believe i finally try this app after all these years of being told its the best and its actually the worst on mobile. Whats the deal? This is garbage. But because no ones paying for it you dont have to make it any better, right? Just keeep pushing slop to the masses.
Can’t find remove AI Summaries option
The new AI summaries option is pissing me off.
There is no option to turn it off. The lightning bolt icon keeps getting hit on accident. And I detest AI.
I want this removed. Looking up articles says there is a way to remove it. But I cannot find the option to.

Private Mode Shares Data with Non-Private Mode Use Orion Browser instead

While the private mode bug has been fixed, there are new appalling bugs, again just use a different browser.
The current appalling bug is in the browser url bar. When typing a website like “hellgatenyc.com” the autocorrect/typeahead will suggest “helllgatenyc.com” notice the extra “l” in “helll”. This happens with every address causing it to navigate to the wrong website. How could you not notice a huge usability issue like this? Mozilla isn’t even trying. I have tried clearing data and reinstalling the app but the stupid software they changed to a “better llm algorithm” for suggestions is actually worse. Stick with what works and stop chasing brain dead AI trends.

No idea what happened in the latest update but private tabs will seamlessly collapse into no private mode and vice versa. I have logged into a service on private tab, close it and open the service in non-private tab and the session will be logged in. This suggests there is ZERO sandboxing going on and that a bug is exposing this faux “private browser”. This leaks data.
It also proves they don’t even test basic functionality.
The new UI is also slow and laggy and doesn’t recognize taps when switching tabs quickly.
Just migrate to Orion Browser instead.

Pull to refresh makes it unusable
It’s been years since people reported in 2022 that pull to refresh makes the browser unusable for filling forms where it’s so easy to lose your work by accidentally refreshing, and there is no option to turn it off. Additionally, the keyboard often covers text entry form if one has slightly larger fonts on iOS. I was using Firefox for many years and still use it on desktop, but on my iPhone it’s unusable as is!

Broken URL
I try to search something up and it keeps taking me to the broken url page I’ve tried to change my settings to see if that would work but has not. I literally can’t even search up the word “cat” without it taking me to the broken url page
Latest Version still has Problems
Short-cuts window randomly appears all black, except for the icons, with text being unreadable. Also on the shortcuts page, the Firefox name now has more empty space around it, at the top of the window which causes the shortcuts to be cut off at bottom of screen requiring scrolling to access them. (iPhone 13)

App ruining itself with AI
Every integration of AI ruins the only reason I bothered to switch to this browser in the first place. “Flash search” AI summary keeps re-enabling despite me disabling it. Will uninstall if this persists
No homepage button or bookmarks
I received a response to a previous review suggesting there is a way to out a homepage button on the interface. Perhaps you were thinking of the desktop version because there does not appear to be any way to do that on the iPad.
Similarly, the bookmarks menu is now hidden and requires multiple clicks to access. So I say again… Do you spend your time TRYING to think of ways to screw up the interface? It was fine. Go back. Go ahead and make improvements on the back end, but stop with the pointless and annoying changes.

I’m a years long user and advocate of Firefox on desktop. I hoped the iOS version would be similarly capable. But at the first site I visited (cnn) I was bombarded by ads all over the page. If I can’t install an adblocker like uBlock Origin, I can’t stand to use any browser. Firefox Focus is better, as it includes rudimentary adblocking. But there’s no account sync, so there’s really nothing to recommend it over Safari. Back to Safari (plus the Wipr adblocker) I go…

Combined with the above inability to quickly get back to the homepage, they have functionally disabled much of what was good with the Firefox browser. They’ve turned a fast and easy to use browser into a cumbersome and annoying app.

It’s a browser
Works great so far, looking to replace a broken-yet-popular AI browser (we don’t want it!!), and the only thing I don’t like is that there’s no setting to close all tabs when exiting the app. Update: I can’t with the ads! At least the broken browser blocked 98% of ads…this is just pop-ups and scrolling ads and I can’t anymore.

The new UI is so ugly. What happened to the cute little house on the bottom bar? Why is a blank slate of floating icons a better design choice than the neat, bordered windows previously used?

Not really Firefox
What makes Firefox stand apart and ahead of all the other browsers is the fact that it is customizable. The iOS version is no more customizable than Safari. Still better than Edge, though.
Please add an adblocker
I love using Firefox on windows, and would really like to use Firefox as my main browser on iOS, mainly for the syncing of my tabs, and I’ve tried multiple times but I just keep finding myself going back to safari, mainly for the fact that there is no adblocking option at all on iOS. I don’t understand why, considering other browsers like Edge, Brave, even FIREFOX FOCUS has it as an option but not Firefox? Submitting feedback isn’t going to help as this has been a feature requested for years, and there doesn’t seem to be any indication Mozilla will do it unfortunately.
Edit: Firefox, if you are actually reading this review before responding, I know extensions cannot be done on Firefox. I’m not talking about extensions. I’m talking about adblocking, which you don’t bring up in your responses. Firefox focus has it, brave, edge, etc have it onniOS. Why not Firefox?

Don’t bother paying for Mozilla services. They barely work. Sync tabs across devices? Barely functions and if a device crashes it will lose all its tabs and the other devices don’t help you recover your tabs. So why bother

Keyword search is gone
The keyword search feature is gone, it's pretty much the #1 reason why I choose Firefox over others; why do you keep removing the feature? It's been once a year for 4 years now-- Other than that problem, Firefox is great, painless bookmark and tab syncing, and especially because of the keyword search feature, it's the main reason I use Firefox both here and desktop - a minor gripe I have is pull-to-refresh, I keep accidentally reloading pages, especially ones with small text input boxes, making me lose my whole text. I wish there was a way to disable pull-to-refresh, just the refresh button on the url bar is good enough for me
