Phone battery killer - No camera timer
After years of requesting it and hundreds spent with Nanit devices, there is still no camera off timer.
Your phone just streams the camera in the background all day, destroying battery life, for no reason unless you unplug it or go in and manually turn the camera off every morning and back on later.
What an absurd thing to still not have done.

Save Your Money: Get an Owlet
From the start, Nanit requires a credit card just to view your child in the crib, then persistently pushes paid upgrades for expanded access. When I finally gave in and purchased the subscription, it wasn't worth it. The sleep insights (the whole point) couldn't accurately detect when my baby was actually sleeping, consistently reporting roughly 45 minutes of sleep on nights my child slept through. The alerts, such as cry detection, are reliably delayed, making them useless in the moments that matter.
The breathing monitoring, marketed as a key safety feature, relies on a bulky Velcro band around your baby's chest. It's a struggle when they're swaddled, annoying with a sleep sack, and loud enough to risk waking them. After purchase, I also learned about the privacy concerns around WiFi-enabled cameras, which now makes me uncomfortable traveling with it at all.
The hardware setup isn't much better. Without the floor stand bundle, you're looking at another $100 for Nanit's own pole, an absurd price for what it is, or you're stuck jerry-rigging a solution or damaging your wall with the mount.
After hundreds on the bundle, another hundred on the subscription, and ongoing upsell pressure, it's hard not to feel like this product is designed to prey on the anxiety of new parents; a feeling reinforced by the flood of targeted ads I received while pregnant positioning it as superior to the Owlet.
If you're considering Nanit for safety and peace of mind, save your money. Get an Owlet and a simple non-WiFi camera.

Awful
This app never works. Save your money and buy something reliable. Literally lags constantly. Can barely ever see your child on the monitor. Holy frustrating piece of garbage expensive item.
Already expensive camera and even more expensive subscription
The free plan used to give 1-3 day of memories and insights and now you can’t get anything without paying subscription. This kind of product should be illegal.
Hot Garbage
The camera + annual subscription will run you $300, which you will need to unlock basic features. HOWEVER, the most infuriating thing is after spending all that money, the app lags and the camera fails to connect ALMOST EVERY TIME, meaning you have to keep trying to close out the app and re-open, switching WiFi off, or resetting the router just to get the camera to connect briefly. Infuriating and you lose a lot of critical time when you are trying to check on your baby!

Stopped Working
Extremely disappointed. I genuinely loved this monitor while it was working, which makes this even more frustrating. Of course it stopped working immediately after I upgraded my subscription last night. It will no longer connect to WiFi or pair with my phone.
I reached out to customer service, but the support has been ineffective, I’ve been asked to repeat the same troubleshooting steps multiple times without any resolution.
At this point, I will be returning the monitor and requesting a refund for the subscription upgrade.

Disconnects middle of the night way too often
A baby monitor is supposed to give you peace of mind that you can hear your child throughout the night. There will be stretches where connectivity is good, but then there will be periods where the camera disconnects from the app constantly. And when it disconnects the app completely shuts down so you no longer have the audio feeding to your phone, until you randomly wake up and realize you have no audio and frantically reopen the app hoping your kiddo is ok. Like last night where this happened at least 5 times. A baby monitor that shuts off without alerting the parent it’s done so is incredibly bad in my opinion.
Does not work well and requires a subscription
For a device whose function is as imperative as a baby monitor to rely on such a flawed app is absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. To require a subscription on top of performing poorly is absurd.
Horrible Glitching
The sound/image cutting in and out is something from my nightmares. Please do yourself a favor and purchase any other camera system.
Horrible app. No activity tracking on iPad.
Don’t release a broken app that doesn’t function. Braindeaddevs
it always bug and we can pnly report not change time wentj
My Time went to bed is never accurate and we can only report not change it it makes it where it cannot analyze his sleep cause it need 5+ hours anyway VERY Frustrating to pay so much money for sometimes that i am not hapof
Camera feed rarely works
I’ve been a dad for 6 weeks now and in that time the video feed on my Nanit app has worked <5% of the time. When it does work I get a few seconds of live feed and then a buffering screen indefinitely. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app and turned the phone on and off a number of time, and the functionality has not changed/improved.
Cant log on
Trying to watch my baby tells me to try again later. Shes sleeping now computer. Thanks for nothing
Awful connectivity
I can’t believe how unreliable this app is and how many times I need to restart the app to MAYBE get a good feed. It’s not my camera connectivity; it’s the app. I’m so frustrated by how much time I spend waiting for the feed to pop up. You can’t hear the baby without the camera displaying. You can’t turn the light on without it loading in the app. And it takes forever. What a hunk of garbage.
Disconnects all the time
Disconnects frequently, requiring re-pairing. I have rebooted and repaired many times, and it still keeps happening. I wish they fixed this - otherwise it’s a good product.
Reviews must be fake
The reviews on this app must be fake. The app updates are literally making the app worse with every iteration. You used to be able to see a quick summary of all the activities throughout the night via a quick button on the Home Screen, and now it just says “night in progress”, the button is unclickable, and literally the only button I used is now not working anymore. You now have to scroll through all the raw footage manually to be able to give yourself a summary of all the wakes throughout the night. Why on earth would you remove the one feature that was good? I truly would not recommend this app to any new friends having a baby.
Left went back and underwhelmed
I had the Nanit with my first, went to a different brand and came back and underwhelmed. The perimeters for the being attended to aren’t accurate a majorly of the time my kids are attended to the camera or system doesn’t pick up them being attended to i.e. someone walking into the bed boundary. The night vision is okay better than others. The one thing that really makes it two stars is that you have to buy each subscription for each camera, instead of one subscription per house holder and having multiple camera under that. If that’s the way they want to operate I would definitely recommend making the subscriptions cheaper.
Also the Nanit Montior could have a better backlight so it’s easier to see and all of the features on the app being on the monitor would be a better sellling point.

Subscription to even use it
You can’t even see the video feed without signing up for a subscription first, the video feed is blocked until you do. the whole app is just ads for the premium plans, constant banners over the video feed if you don’t allow the app to find other devices on your network at all times. I have linked the camera, you don’t need to connect to other devices in my home. The camera itself is decent, and install was strait forward. But having to whip out my credit card to see my own babies crib is crazy.
Beware
You need individual plans for each nanit camera it’s rediculous considering the start of is already 100 then the top tier is 300. Giving it 2 stars for the fact that it does offer a couple of decent features but for 300 not including the camera per year you would think we could link and additional camera at the very least. Personally I’m dropping the service but if you’re a one kid or one camera household this will work for you.
Decent but subscription model is awful
I’d suggest looking elsewhere for a nanny cam. The subscription model here is awful, price gouging for basic features.
Forces you to sign up for a service trial and no one answers when you call to cancel
The camera itself isn’t that great. The quality is too low to show the temperature reading on a device we put near the crib, which we did because the temperature reading from the camera device itself is off by 4-5 degrees (checked against two other sensors)
But, you can’t even use the camera without giving your credit card for a trial of their services. Can’t cancel the trial on the app, the account created on app doesn’t work on the site, and when I called customer support I was on hold twice for 15min and no one answered either time. Email support did respond fast and cancelled the subscription.
I really don’t understand what problem we are solving with monitoring baby breathing for a monthly fee. Feels like upselling
things no one needs.

iPad App Lacking
Can you please add full functionality to the iPad app? Things such as video playback and seeing sleep score are not even an option. The iPhone app is perfect, just bring in all of those features. The iPad app is also very very bad at rescaling. Have any Nanit developers tried using it on an iPad? It is not a good experience.
Paying a lot of money for a quickly declining service.
Not sure when this all changed but the insights are wrong every night. It’s been a few weeks now.
It didn’t use to be this way. The app will say I helped my toddler to sleep when he’s clearly awake, moving around, talking. I report it every night and yet it doesn’t improve.
You can add when they went to sleep but this does not update the data.
The app use to be so accurate to when he fell asleep, when he woke up, etc.
